Zero Ohm Resistor Current Rating: Only 34 of Walsin’s 108 Jumper Rows Resolve to One

A zero ohm resistor current rating does not exist in Walsin’s parametric export. We opened all seven named jumper export files — 108 rows — and matched each against the two chip resistor datasheets Venatech holds. Only 34 resolve to a documented current figure; 74 carry a resistance of 0 Ω and nothing that states the current they can take.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds all 137 of Walsin Technology (Walsin)’s chip resistor export files and both of the chip resistor datasheets on file, Walsin_MR_Automotive_Thick_Film_Chip_Resistor.pdf and Walsin_WR_General_Purpose_Chip_Resistor.pdf. This post is measured from the seven export files whose name contains “jumper” — HighPower__jumper__ONE_FIFTH_W.xlsx, High_Precision_Thick_Film_chip_resistor_Jumper.xlsx, Thick_Film_Anti_Surge_Chip_Resistor_Jumper.xlsx, Thick_Film_General_Purpose_Jumper.xlsx, Thick_Film_High_Power_Chip_Resistor_Jumper.xlsx, Thick_Film_High_Power_Chip_Resistor_Jumper_1_5W.xlsx and Thick_Film_High_Voltage_Chip_Resistor_Jumper.xlsx — plus both resistor datasheets, and every part number below is real.

How many rows do Walsin’s seven named jumper export files actually return?

108, across only three of the seven files. We opened all seven and counted every row: Thick_Film_General_Purpose_Jumper.xlsx returns 74, Thick_Film_High_Power_Chip_Resistor_Jumper.xlsx returns 33, and HighPower__jumper__ONE_FIFTH_W.xlsx returns 1. The other four — High Precision, Anti-Surge, High Power 1.5 W and High Voltage — return nothing. This matches a finding already on record and we reuse it here rather than re-claim it: four of the seven named jumper files are empty.

Jumper export file Rows Prefixes present
Thick_Film_General_Purpose_Jumper.xlsx 74 MR, WR, SR
Thick_Film_High_Power_Chip_Resistor_Jumper.xlsx 33 WF, MF
HighPower__jumper__ONE_FIFTH_W.xlsx 1 WF
High Precision, Anti-Surge, High Power 1.5 W, High Voltage 0 each —

What does the Resistance column say on all 108 jumper rows, and why is that not the answer?

0Ω on every one of the 108 rows, with Tolerance reading the literal text Jumper rather than a percentage. We checked all 108 rows across the three populated files and found no exception. Reading 0Ω as “no current limit” is the error a naive BOM check makes: a real jumper carries a maximum resistance of 50 mΩ or 30 mΩ, and the current it can take depends on that residual resistance and the case size, neither of which the export states as a current.

Field Value on all 108 jumper rows
Resistance 0Ω
Tolerance Jumper (text, not a percentage)
Rated Power Present — inherited from the resistive series, see the companion post below
Rated current column None exists in the 10-column schema

How many of the 108 jumper rows resolve to a published current rating at all?

34, and every one of them is an MR or WR row at a case size the matching datasheet actually tabulates. We matched all 108 rows against both resistor datasheets by prefix and case size. The MR datasheet tabulates jumper current at MR04, MR06, MR08, MR10 and MR12; 14 of the file’s 18 MR rows sit at those five sizes. The WR datasheet tabulates it at WR04, WR06, WR08 and WR12; 20 of the file’s 47 WR rows sit at those four sizes. Every SR row (9) and every WF or MF row (34) falls outside both datasheets’ coverage, because neither PDF carries the SR, WF or MF prefix. We have not seen this 34-of-108 figure counted anywhere else.

Prefix Rows in the 108 Rows at a datasheet-tabulated size Rows with no current figure Venatech holds
MR 18 14 4
WR 47 20 27
SR 9 0 9
WF / MF 34 0 34
Total 108 34 (31.5%) 74 (68.5%)

What does the WR general purpose jumper current table actually say?

Rated current of 2 A at WR12, 1.5 A at WR08, 1 A at WR06 and 1 A at WR04, with peak current roughly 2.3 to 2.5 times higher at each size. We opened page 9 of Walsin_WR_General_Purpose_Chip_Resistor.pdf, headed “TEST CONDITION FOR JUMPER (0Ω)”, and read the table directly rather than inferring it from the rated-power figure the export carries. This table has not been quoted in Venatech’s published content before; the companion post on the 000 jumper code pulled the MR table only.

Does the WR jumper current table agree with the MR automotive one?

Yes, exactly, at every shared case size. We lined up both tables side by side, WR’s single jumper rating against MR’s P-tolerance jumper rating, and the two match to the ampere at WR12/MR12, WR08/MR08, WR06/MR06 and WR04/MR04. Neither datasheet says this match is intentional — it is the first time the two have been placed next to each other.

Case size WR..X000 PTL rated current MR..X000 PTL P-tolerance rated current Match / mismatch
1206 (3216) 2 A 2 A Match
0805 (2012) 1.5 A 1.5 A Match
0603 (1608) 1 A 1 A Match
0402 (1005) 1 A 1 A Match

That agreement does not extend to the MR F-tolerance jumper, which runs up to a third higher — 2.9 A at MR08 against 1.5 A on both the WR and MR P-tolerance rows at the same case size. WR publishes only one jumper tolerance; MR publishes two, and only the looser of the two matches WR.

Which jumper rows have no current figure anywhere Venatech holds?

74 of the 108: all 9 SR rows, all 34 WF/MF rows, 4 MR rows at sizes outside the MR datasheet (0201, 1218, 2010, 2512) and 27 WR rows at sizes outside the WR datasheet (0201, 1210, 1218, 2010, 2512, 01005). We checked each row’s case size against both datasheets’ own quick-reference tables rather than assuming coverage from the prefix alone.

Requirement: a documented zero ohm jumper current rating Part number Prefix Case size Current rating held Match / mismatch

Four of six same-case-size candidates fail the one requirement that actually matters for a jumper. We will not tell you the other four are interchangeable with the two we can document; we are telling you which two we can back with a PDF today.

What should you do with a jumper position that has no documented current?

Ask us for it by prefix and case size before you commit a footprint, because for 74 of 108 named-export jumper rows the gap sits in our documentation, not necessarily in Walsin’s own files. The trade press has reported passive component lead times stretching through 2026 as AI server and EV production draw on the same capacity, which is exactly the moment a second source needs confirming rather than assuming.

  1. State the prefix, not just the case size. MR, WR, SR, WF and MF all make a 0 Ω part in the same footprint, and only two of those five prefixes have a current table in Venatech’s hands today.
  2. Cross your BOM in one pass on the free cross-reference tool. It decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers and matches against 800,000+ crossable Walsin part numbers, returning every field we hold.
  3. Check ready stock before committing to a production slot — a dated snapshot as at 23 September 2026, not a live feed.
  4. Ask us for the SR, WF or MF datasheet. We hold two resistor PDFs today, MR and WR, and neither covers those three prefixes; your request is what puts it on the list to Walsin.

The short version

A zero ohm resistor current rating is never in Walsin’s export — it is in a datasheet, and Venatech holds exactly two. Of the 108 rows across the seven named jumper export files, only 34 sit at a case size either the MR or WR datasheet tabulates for current; the other 74, including every SR, WF and MF row, have no current figure we can show. Where MR and WR do overlap, the WR jumper current table matches the MR P-tolerance table exactly at all four shared sizes — a cross-check we have not seen made before.

Send us the jumper positions off your BOM with the prefix and case size for each, and we will tell you — honestly — which ones we can back with a current rating today and which ones are still a request to Walsin.

Frequently asked questions

Where does a zero ohm resistor’s current rating come from, if not the Walsin export?

From a datasheet, never from the parametric export. All 108 rows across Walsin’s seven named jumper export files carry a Resistance of 0 Ω and a Rated Power figure, but none of the 137 chip resistor export files has a current column at all. Only the MR and WR datasheets Venatech holds tabulate jumper current, and only for the case sizes each one covers.

How many of Walsin’s 108 named jumper rows have a documented current rating? 14 MR rows at MR04, MR06, MR08, MR10 and MR12, and 20 WR rows at WR04, WR06, WR08 and WR12 — the case sizes each datasheet’s own quick-reference table covers. The remaining 74 rows, including all 9 SR rows and all 34 WF or MF rows, have no current figure in either datasheet Venatech holds. What current can a 0603 zero ohm jumper carry?

1 A continuous and 3 A peak, on both the Walsin WR general purpose jumper table and the MR automotive P-tolerance jumper table at the 0603 case size — the two datasheets agree exactly at this size. The MR F-tolerance jumper at 0603 is rated higher, 1.8 A continuous.

Does the WR jumper current table match the MR one?

Yes, at every case size the two datasheets share. WR12 matches MR12’s P-tolerance rating at 2 A, WR08 matches MR08 at 1.5 A, and WR06 and WR04 both match MR06 and MR04 at 1 A. The match does not extend to the MR F-tolerance jumper, which is rated up to a third higher at the same sizes.

Does Walsin publish a current rating for an SR, WF or MF jumper?

Not in anything Venatech holds. Venatech’s two chip resistor datasheets cover the MR and WR prefixes only. All 9 SR rows and all 34 WF or MF rows in the named jumper exports have a Rated Power figure and no current figure, and we flag the gap as our documentation’s rather than necessarily Walsin’s.

Why does the Resistance column read 0Ω on a jumper if it has a real resistance?

Because 0 Ω is the nominal label Walsin applies to a jumper in the parametric export, not the specified ceiling. The datasheets define the real figure as 50 mΩ maximum for P tolerance and 30 mΩ for F tolerance, and neither of those ceilings appears anywhere in the 108 export rows.

What is the fastest way to confirm a zero ohm jumper’s current rating?

State the exact prefix and case size, then check it against the matching datasheet before designing to it. The free cross-reference tool takes a pasted list of up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file, decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers and matches against more than 800,000 crossable Walsin part numbers, stating every field we hold.
