Fishing vessel electronics for Fiji include sensor and display boards that may use a resistor network. We counted the Walsin Technology (Walsin) convex network series: 98 rows, all 98 part numbers contain a space, all 97 values have a discrete 0402 twin, 27 of the 97 have a stocked one, and none of the 98 networks is on our Hong Kong shelf.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin chip resistor export of 234,815 rows and a ready-stock list dated 23 September 2026. This post is for a design or procurement engineer at a Fijian boatyard, marine-electronics workshop or fisheries operator who has a resistor network on a bill of materials and wants a second source in small lots from Hong Kong. Every Walsin part number is real, every count is ours, and the news statement names its source and the day we fetched it, 2 November 2026.
What does Fiji’s tuna fleet financing mean for a vessel electronics buyer?
It means a government that is looking at the cost of keeping boats working. PINA reported on 2 October 2025 that Fiji’s Fisheries Minister told Parliament the Ministry is in talks with the Fiji Development Bank on financing, including upgrades to the ageing fleet, and is negotiating access for Fiji-flagged vessels to Kiribati and Tuvalu waters with landings processed at PAFCO in Levuka.
The article, which we fetched on 2 November 2026, gives no vessel count and no tonnage, and it names no equipment, electronics or supplier, so we draw no link between it and any part number. Our view, labelled as ours: an ageing fleet is repaired and refitted in small steps, and the small parts on a navigation or sensor board are the ones that get replaced first. We have no relationship with the Ministry, PAFCO or any Fijian operator.
What is in the Walsin convex network series?
Ninety-eight rows, one case size and one power rating. We parsed the series and found 98 rows, all in a 1206 body, all rated 1/16 W and all on a 7 inch reel: one 0 ohm jumper and 97 values at plus or minus 5% from 10 ohm to 100 kilohm, which are the 24 E24 steps across four decades plus 100 kilohm. We have not seen this series counted anywhere.
The 1206 general-purpose discrete resistor at plus or minus 5% is rated 1/4 W on 1,691 of 1,716 rows, so a 1/16 W network in the same body is a different part, not a drop-in; the export does not state how many elements sit inside it. Our post on resistor arrays against discrete resistors explains the trade, and chip resistor arrays explained covers the families.
Why do all 98 part numbers contain a space?
Because the code is printed in two parts. All 98 network part numbers read like WT04X472 JTL, with a space between the value code and the tail, so a paste into a spreadsheet or a join on part number splits or misses every one of them.
We checked the whole series, not a sample: 98 of 98 contain the space. The space is one reason a part-number search can return nothing, and our post on why Walsin part numbers do not paste into your BOM explains the rest. If your upload returns no match, remove the space or keep it exactly as exported, and ask us.
How do the candidates compare with a 4.7 kilohm network line?
One is a network, the others are single resistors. The table sets one network and four discrete rows against a 4.7 kilohm, plus or minus 5%, 1/16 W network line.
| Walsin part | Series, case | Value, tolerance, power | On shelf 23 Sep 2026 | Match / mismatch against a 4.7 kilohm, 5%, 1/16 W network line |
|---|---|---|---|---|
WT04X472 JTL |
Convex network, 1206 | 4.7 kilohm, 5%, 1/16 W, 200 ppm | No | Match on every field |
WR04X472 JTL |
General purpose, 0402 | 4.7 kilohm, 5%, 1/16 W, 100 ppm | No | Mismatch: a single 0402 resistor, not a network; TCR 100 ppm |
WR04X472 JTLJ |
General purpose automotive-labelled, 0402 | 4.7 kilohm, 5%, 1/16 W | No | Mismatch: a single resistor, and the J grade |
WR04X4701FTL |
General purpose, 0402 | 4.7 kilohm, 1%, 1/16 W | Yes | Match on value and power; mismatch on tolerance, 1% is tighter, and it is a single resistor |
WR04X472 JTR |
General purpose, series name says LF 100ppm, 0402 | 4.7 kilohm, 5%, 1/16 W, TCR column 200 ppm | No | Mismatch: a single resistor; the series name and the TCR column disagree |
Replacing a network with discrete 0402 resistors changes the board: the pad count, the placement count and the matching between elements all change, and that is a design decision that stays with you.
Which network values have a stocked discrete twin?
Twenty-seven of 97. All 97 network values have a discrete 0402, plus or minus 5% row in the general-purpose series, 970 rows in all, and none of the 970 is on our shelf; 26 of the values do have a stocked 0402 at plus or minus 1%, and the 12 kilohm value has a stocked 0402 at plus or minus 0.5%.
As at 23 September 2026 our list holds 1,125 distinct part numbers, 254 of them chip resistors, and none of the 98 networks. A network is therefore a factory order, requested through the site, while 27 values can be had as single resistors from the dated snapshot. The ready stock list is never live-synced, and we quote part-number counts, never piece counts. Our chip resistor range lists the families.
What will we not tell you about vessel electronics?
Anything about a boat, a salt atmosphere or a network’s internal layout. We hold 2 chip resistor datasheets, WR and MR, and none for the convex network series, and we searched all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, for marine, salt, tropic and vessel and found 0 matches.
We therefore cannot give you the number of elements, the voltage rating or the element-to-element tolerance for any of the 98 rows. The WR sheet we hold is ASC_WR_V24, dated September 2016, so we say plainly that it is ten years old. We hold no office, entity or stock in Fiji; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We give no legal, customs or conformity advice; confirm with your compliance team.
Why do buyers in Fiji choose Venatech?
Because we show a Fijian buyer the mismatches as well as the matches, and we can prove the rest: 28 Walsin datasheets held, 451 pages, and one named authorised line. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong; Walsin is our only authorised line, and Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We confirm nothing we cannot show.
Fijian boatyards and workshops tend to buy a handful of parts for a known job, and we are comfortable with that. For a resistor network:
- We find the part that will not paste. All 98 network codes contain a space, and we tell you before your upload comes back empty.
-
We offer the single-resistor route honestly. Twenty-seven of the 97 values are on the shelf as 0402 singles, and we mark every difference from a network.
-
Hong Kong-based service, small lots welcome. A prototype or pilot quantity is a normal order for us, requested through the site.
- Breadth you can count. Our Walsin extracts (00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx, Walsin_Inductor_ALL.xlsx, Walsin_MOV_ALL.xlsx, Walsin_DiscCap_ALL.xlsx, Walsin_Antenna_ALL.xlsx and the chip-resistor, thin-film and RF files) hold 359,135 distinct part numbers, and the VenaMatch tool covers 800,000+ crossable parts.
- Honest cross-referencing. Every candidate is shown with each field marked match or mismatch, so you see the gap before you lay out a board.
- Checkable credentials. We are an authorised Walsin Technology distributor in Hong Kong, which you can confirm with Walsin. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and send the relevant one on request.
How can Venatech help a Fijian buyer with a vessel-electronics resistor line?
By showing the differences instead of hiding them, across 800,000+ crossable parts, in small lots. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Walsin is our only authorised line; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply.
- Cross-reference. Paste your incumbent number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch.
- BOM check. Upload the whole bill of materials to /bom/, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file.
- Ready stock. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026, not live.
- Service. Hong Kong-based, small lots, help with cross-referencing by hand when the tool returns no clean candidate, and a quote requested through the site.
Worked example from our own export: a 4.7 kilohm, plus or minus 5%, 1/16 W network line maps to WT04X472 JTL, to four stocked-value singles such as WR04X4701FTL if you accept changing the board and a tighter tolerance, and to nothing exact on the shelf. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
The short version
For a Fijian vessel-electronics buyer, Walsin’s convex network series is 98 rows, every part number contains a space, every value has a discrete 0402 twin, 27 of the 97 values have a stocked one, and none of the 98 networks is on the Hong Kong shelf.
Paste one resistor network from a vessel board into the free cross-reference tool, or upload the board to /bom/, and we will return the Walsin candidates with every difference stated and the stock position named. If your board uses a network to save pads, would you spend them back on discrete 0402 singles?

Frequently asked questions
What did Fiji’s Fisheries Minister say about the tuna fleet?
PINA reported on 2 October 2025 that the Ministry is in talks with the Fiji Development Bank on financing, including upgrades to the ageing fleet, and is negotiating access to Kiribati and Tuvalu waters. The article gives no vessel count and names no equipment.
How many Walsin convex resistor network rows are there?
We counted 98: one 0 ohm jumper and 97 values at plus or minus 5% from 10 ohm to 100 kilohm, all 1206, all 1/16 W. Every part number contains a space, such as WT04X472 JTL.
Do Walsin discrete resistors replace a network?
Not as a drop-in. All 97 network values have a discrete 0402 row at plus or minus 5%, but a single resistor is not a network, and the pad count, placement and matching change. That is a design decision that stays with you.
Is a Walsin resistor network on the Hong Kong shelf?
No. As at 23 September 2026 none of the 98 networks is on our stock list; 27 of the 97 values have a stocked discrete 0402. The list is a dated snapshot and is never live-synced, and each network is a quote requested through the site.
Why does a Walsin network part number not paste into my spreadsheet?
Because all 98 network part numbers contain a space between the value code and the tail. A join on part number can split or miss them. Keep the space as exported, or ask us to check the list.
Does Venatech have an office in Fiji?
No. We hold no office, entity or stock in Fiji. Venatech Limited is based in Hong Kong with locations in Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, and Chengdu in preparation. We serve Fijian buyers from Hong Kong in small lots.
