Passive components for Greece from Hong Kong, for a ship-electronics line, turn on one question: does the resistor need an anti-sulfuration series? We matched our 23 September 2026 stock to 234,401 resistor part numbers. 171 of 183 matched lines have an anti-sulfuration twin on the same five fields. None of the 254 resistor lines we stock carries the marker.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) chip resistor exports: 137 files, 234,815 rows, 234,401 distinct part numbers. This post is for a buyer in Greece who builds or services electronics for ships, ports or marine equipment and wants to know what a Hong Kong source can and cannot give. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. Where it states a rule or a development, it names the source, the date of the document and the day we fetched it. Where it makes an engineering judgement, it says the judgement is ours.
What does a Greek ship-electronics buyer need from a Hong Kong distributor?
Three things, in this order: a part that survives the environment, a second source you can see, and paperwork that says what it covers. For resistors the first item has a name in the Walsin catalogue: 9 series are named anti-sulfuration, holding 56,227 part numbers across thick film and thin film. The environment decision is yours; the catalogue gives you the label.
We make no claim that a ship’s equipment needs these series. That depends on where the board sits and what air reaches it. We say only that Walsin names a family for it, that the family is large, and that our stock does not hold it. Our own post on anti-sulfuration resistors lists the series, and the chip resistor range shows the rest.
Which published developments touch Greek maritime electronics buyers?
Three, and none names a component. The Piraeus Port Authority listed five port businesses in a release dated 2 June 2026, the same authority announced wider cooperation with a Greek technical university on 16 June 2026, and the European Commission’s FuelEU Maritime page sets an at-berth power duty from 1 January 2030. We read each source in full before writing this section.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | What it means for a component buyer | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Piraeus Port Authority at Posidonia 2026 | Cruise Terminal, Container Terminal, Car Terminal, Ship Repair Zone and Coastal Shipping described as progressing; no figures or projects given | Release dated 2 June 2026 | Context only: the release names no component, no supplier and no investment | Mismatch with any demand claim: the source states no volume |
| Piraeus Port Authority and the National Technical University of Athens | Cooperation to expand on green ships, ports, logistics, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, after an 11 June visit by the chairman | Ports Europe report dated 16 June 2026 | A research agreement, not a purchasing programme | Mismatch: the source gives no timetable or budget |
| FuelEU Maritime | Fully applied from 1 January 2025 to ships above 5,000 gross tonnage calling at European ports, whatever the flag; passenger and container ships at berth must use onshore power or a zero-emission alternative from 1 January 2030 in ports covered under article 9 of the AFIR regulation, and from 1 January 2035 in all EU ports that develop it | Commission page, undated; fetched 20 October 2026 | Power electronics on ships and at quays is a design topic for the equipment maker | Match for scope: it covers ships calling at Greek ports; mismatch for parts: no component is named |
Our view, labelled as ours: none of these three sources says a Greek shipyard, ship manager or equipment maker is short of any part. We name none and imply none. Whether a vessel or a quay product needs a given resistor series is for the design owner. If the point is compliance with a regulation, confirm with your compliance team.
How many Walsin chip resistors have an anti-sulfuration twin?
Most of them. We parsed all 234,401 distinct chip resistor part numbers, set aside the arrays and networks, and compared the rest on five fields: size, resistance, tolerance, TCR and rated power. Of 185,883 resistors in a plain series, 78,220 (42.1%) have an anti-sulfuration part on all five fields, and 107,663 have none. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
The reverse count is sharper. Of 38,375 anti-sulfuration resistors outside the arrays, 35,370 (92.2%) have a plain-series part on the same five fields. So anti-sulfuration is rarely a new value. It is a second part number for a value you can already buy. The gaps sit in particular sizes: 0201 has a twin for 68% of plain parts, 2010 for 29%, and the 1218, 0612, 1225 and 1020 sizes have none at all.
| Case size | Plain-series part numbers | With an anti-sulfuration twin | Share | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0201 | 15,889 | 10,789 | 67.9% | Match for most values |
| 0603 | 30,758 | 12,700 | 41.3% | Match for 4 in 10 |
| 0805 | 31,504 | 13,260 | 42.1% | Match for 4 in 10 |
| 1206 | 30,928 | 14,001 | 45.3% | Match for 4 in 10 |
| 2010 | 18,169 | 5,260 | 29.0% | Mismatch for 7 in 10 |
| 1218, 0612, 1225, 1020 | 7,629 | 0 | 0% | Mismatch: no anti-sulfuration series in these sizes |
A twin is a catalogue statement about five fields. It is not a qualification. The twin may differ in series, termination detail, surge behaviour and the datasheet that governs it.
Which Walsin resistor swaps for a stocked line when sulfur is the problem?
For a 0603 10 kilohm line, four. WR06X1002FTL is a general purpose 0603, 10,000 ohm, plus or minus 1%, 1/10 W, 100 ppm part, and four anti-sulfuration parts share every one of those fields: SR06X1002FTL, SR06X1002FTLW, WR06X1002FTLV and WR06X1002FTLZ. The table adds the automotive parts that look like candidates and are not.
| Walsin part | Series as exported | Size, value, tolerance, TCR, power | Anti-sulfuration series | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
WR06X1002FTL |
General Purpose | 0603, 10,000 ohm, plus or minus 1%, 100 ppm, 1/10 W | No | Reference line; stocked as at 23 September 2026 |
SR06X1002FTL |
High Grade Anti-Sulfuration (Automotive) | Same five fields | Yes | Match on five fields; mismatch on series |
SR06X1002FTLW |
High Grade Anti-Sulfuration (Automotive) | Same five fields | Yes | Match on five fields; the last letter differs |
WR06X1002FTLV |
General Purpose Anti-Sulfuration (Automotive) | Same five fields | Yes | Match on five fields; mismatch on series |
WR06X1002FTLZ |
General Purpose Anti-Sulfuration (Automotive) | Same five fields | Yes | Match on five fields; the last letter differs |
MR06X1002FTL |
General Purpose (Automotive) | 0603, 10,000 ohm, plus or minus 1%, 100 ppm, 1/8 W | No, by series name | Mismatch: rated power differs, and the series is not named anti-sulfuration |
The last letter is not a safe guide. Across all 234,401 part numbers, 17,227 end in V. In 10,938 of them, the WR and WF prefixes, the series is an anti-sulfuration one. In 6,289, the MR and WW prefixes, it is not. The same letter carries opposite meanings, so read the series column, not the suffix. Our post on the automotive suffix rule shows the wider trap.
What do we hold in stock, and what do our datasheets say about sulfur?
We hold plain-series resistors and no anti-sulfuration lines. Of the 254 chip resistor lines in our stock list as at 23 September 2026, 183 join to an export row, 171 of those 183 (93.4%) have an anti-sulfuration twin in the catalogue, and none of the 254 ends in V, W or Z or begins SA or SF. So the twins exist at Walsin, not on our shelf.
| What we looked for | Lines held, 23 September 2026 | Example | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chip resistor lines in the stock list | 254 | WR06X1002FTL |
Baseline |
| Lines that join to an export row | 183 | WR08X1002FTL |
Match for series lookup; 71 lines do not join |
| Joined lines with an anti-sulfuration twin | 171 | WR06X1002FTL |
Match on five fields, not held |
| Joined lines with no twin | 12 | MF12E1R00FTL |
Mismatch: its twins are plain or automotive only |
| Lines carrying an anti-sulfuration marker | 0 | none | Mismatch: an anti-sulfuration need is a factory order |
Two documents on file bear on the question. The MR sheet carries the sulfuration test; the WR general purpose sheet (ASC_WR_V24, September 2016) does not, and both print a storage caution against sulfide, chloride gas and acid. So one of the two resistor sheets we hold names the test. We hold no datasheet for the SR, WR-V, SF or SA series themselves. Our stock page shows what is on the shelf now, and the list is a dated snapshot that moves.
What will we not tell you about Piraeus and Greek import?
Anything operational. We state no duty rate, tariff code, customs procedure, port charge, transit time, freight cost or carrier, and we hold no office, entity or stock in Greece. Our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. Your forwarder and customs broker own the Piraeus side; confirm with your compliance team.
What we can do is the cross-reference. Paste your resistor line into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, or load a BOM of up to 500 lines. We supply lot and date-code traceability, a certificate of conformity per shipment on request and original sealed Walsin packaging. REACH, SVHC, PFAS, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PPAP and IMDS documents do not appear in the 451 pages of the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
The short version
For Greek ship electronics, the resistor question is a series question. Walsin names 9 anti-sulfuration series with 56,227 part numbers, 42.1% of plain-series resistors have a twin in them, and the letter V means opposite things on WR and MR. In our stock list as at 23 September 2026, 0 of 254 resistor lines carry the marker, so a sulfur-resistant requirement is a factory order.
Send us one resistor line from your marine BOM and we will return the Walsin parts with the differences stated. If your design file says anti-sulfuration, which datasheet does it point to?
