Electric motorbike electronics for Vietnam rest on one small case size. Of 155 stocked 0603 MLCC lines in our 23 September 2026 list, 88 have an AEC-Q200 twin in Walsin’s export on size, dielectric, capacitance and voltage. X5R has none of 9. No automotive-series part is on the shelf.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC export, 24,026 rows and 23,601 distinct part numbers, and a ready-stock list dated 23 September 2026. This post is for a purchasing or design engineer at a Vietnamese maker of electric two-wheelers, battery packs or controllers who wants a second source for the 0603 capacitors on a battery-management or controller board. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. The market statements name their sources and the day we read them, 23 October 2026.
What do the April 2026 reports say about Vietnam’s electric motorbikes?
Demand is real, and the city rules are in flux. Viet Nam News reported on 14 April 2026 that VinFast received over 135,000 orders and delivered over 93,000 electric motorbikes in March 2026, a record, and that total electric two-wheeler sales were estimated at about 700,000 in 2025. The VinFast figures come from the company’s 3 April announcement as relayed by the paper.
On Hanoi, two April reports disagree on timing. Tuoi Tre reported on 7 April that a city official said there would be no blanket petrol-motorbike ban on Ring Road No. 1 from 1 July and no time-based enforcement in the pilot areas on that date. Vietnam News Agency reported on 24 April on a draft low-emission-zone proposal with a pilot from 1 July to 31 December 2026. We make no claim about what is enforced today. Neither report mentions capacitors, and we draw no conclusion about what any maker buys. We have no relationship with VinFast, the city of Hanoi or either outlet.
How many stocked 0603 lines have an automotive-series twin?
Eighty-eight of 155. We joined the 864 MLCC lines in our 23 September 2026 stock list to Walsin’s export, kept the 155 in the 0603 case, and looked for a part in the three automotive series with the same dielectric, capacitance and rated voltage: 95 have one, 88 in an AEC-Q200 series (MT or ST), 7 only in MG, and 60 have none. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
The split by dielectric is the useful part. NP0 and X7R are covered; X5R is not.
| Dielectric | Stocked 0603 lines | With an MT or ST twin | MG only | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NP0 | 85 | 48 | 1 | Match on size, capacitance, voltage; mismatch on series and qualification |
| X7R | 61 | 40 | 4 | Same four fields |
| X5R | 9 | 0 | 2 | Mismatch: neither MT nor ST offers X5R |
| All | 155 | 88 | 7 | 60 lines have no automotive part at all |
Of the 88, 85 also match on the tolerance field. We compared tolerance only for MT and ST: the MG rows print values such as -0.1 and -0.05 in the Tolerance column, which are not tolerances. For 9 stocked lines, a twin prints a different height from the stocked line.
Which worked 0603 lines show the twins, and what differs?
Three kinds of answer appear: a clean twin, a twin that changes the printed height, and no twin. 0603B104K160CT, a 100 nF 16 V X7R line, has an MT twin that matches on every listed field; 0603B104K500CT has MT and ST twins, and the ST part prints a looser height. The last column is for your incumbent part.
| Stocked line | Automotive-series part | Fields as exported | Match / mismatch | Your incumbent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
0603B104K160CT, X7R, 100 nF, 16 V, plus or minus 10%, 0.80±0.07 mm |
MT18B104K160 |

0603B104K500CT, X7R, 100 nF, 50 V, plus or minus 10%, 0.80+0.15/-0.10 mm |
MT18B104K500 |
Same fields | Match on all listed fields; mismatch on series | |
0603B104K500CT |
ST18B104K500 |
Soft termination, 0.80±0.30 mm | Match on capacitance, voltage, tolerance; mismatch on height and termination | |
0603B224K160CT, X7R, 220 nF, 16 V, 0.80±0.07 mm |
MT18B224K160 |
0.80+0.15/-0.10 mm | Match on capacitance, voltage, tolerance; mismatch on printed height | |
0603N101J500CT, NP0, 100 pF, 50 V, plus or minus 5% |
MT18N101J500 |
0.80±0.07 mm | Match on every listed field; mismatch on series | |
0603B105K250CT, X7R, 1 uF, 25 V |
MG18B105K250 |
MG series, not AEC-Q200 | Mismatch: no MT or ST part at 1 uF and 25 V in 0603 | |
0603X105K250CT, X5R, 1 uF, 25 V |
MG18X105K250 |
MG series, not AEC-Q200 | Mismatch: dielectric X5R has no MT or ST option | |
0603X106K6R3CT, X5R, 10 uF, 6.3 V |
none | No automotive row | Mismatch: no automotive part |
A height printed as a tolerance band is a ceiling and a floor, not a measurement of your part. Our post on the MT and MG series sets out the split, and the one on soft-termination MLCC explains why the ST height and termination differ.
What does the AEC-Q200 label ask of you?
Paperwork, not our word. Walsin’s MT sheet, 11_Automotive_MT.pdf, carries the header “Qualified to AEC-Q200” and says the series meets the requirement; its ST sheet, 12_Soft_Term_Automotive_ST.pdf, says the series is AEC-Q200 compliant. We make no qualification claim of our own. Ask Walsin for the qualification report for the exact part number you intend to use. MG is sold as automotive without AEC-Q200; its sheet is 14_MG_Series_High_Reliability.pdf.
Our post on what AEC-Q200 actually certifies covers the wording. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and none is a qualification report for a named part number.
What will we not tell you about Vietnam?
Anything about Vietnamese customs, import duty or vehicle-component rules. We hold no office, entity or stock in Vietnam; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty rate, transit time or carrier, and we give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We make no claim that any Walsin part is approved for a particular vehicle.
How Venatech helps
Start with one line from your bill of materials. Paste it into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a list to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced; it holds no automotive-series MLCC line, so an AEC-Q200 part is a quote request. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. The MLCC range lists the series. Qualification stays with you.
The short version
For a 0603 position on an electric motorbike board, check the dielectric first. 88 of 155 stocked lines have an AEC-Q200 twin, 7 have only an MG part, 60 have none, and X5R has no MT or ST option at all. None of the twins is on the shelf, 9 print a different height, and the qualification report is yours to request. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
Send us your 0603 lines and we will return the Walsin parts with every difference stated. Which of your X5R positions would survive a move to X7R?

Frequently asked questions
How many stocked 0603 lines have an AEC-Q200 twin?
88 of 155, as at 23 September 2026. We matched size, dielectric, capacitance and rated voltage between our stock list and Walsin’s export. 85 of the 88 also match on tolerance. A twin is a catalogue match on listed fields, not a qualification.
Does X5R have an automotive option at 0603?
Not in an AEC-Q200 series. None of the 9 stocked X5R lines has an MT or ST twin, and 2 have only an MG part, which is automotive without AEC-Q200. Moving to X7R is a design decision about capacitance under bias, not a swap.
Are any automotive-series MLCC on the Hong Kong shelf?
No. None of the 864 MLCC lines in our 23 September 2026 list sits in an MT, MG or ST series, so an AEC-Q200 part is a quote request, not a shelf item. Walsin lead times are not in the documents we hold.
Why did you not compare tolerance on MG parts?
The MG rows print values such as -0.1 and -0.05 in the Tolerance column. Those are not tolerances, so a comparison would mislead. We compared tolerance only for MT and ST, where the column reads plus or minus 10 percent and similar.
Is an AEC-Q200 part certified?
Walsin’s MT sheet is headed qualified to AEC-Q200 and its ST sheet says compliant. Neither is a report on a named part number. We make no qualification claim. Ask Walsin for the qualification report for the exact part number, and confirm with your own quality team.
Do you advise on Vietnamese customs or vehicle rules?
No. We hold no Vietnamese customs or vehicle-component rule content, and no office or stock in Vietnam. We give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We supply parts from Hong Kong in small lots and match them to your list.
