What Is Actually in Walsin’s Thin Film Catalogue: Every Walsin Thin Film Resistor Series We Hold

Venatech Limited holds 93,914 Walsin Technology (Walsin) thin film resistor parts, in three
series: WF precision at 58,314, tantalum nitride MF at 20,520 and anti-sulfuration SF at
15,080. Nine of Walsin’s twenty thin film parametric exports return zero rows, including the
whole AEC-Q200 WF-Q professional series. What is downloadable and what exists are not the
same list.

Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Every figure below is
counted from Walsin’s own thin film parametric exports, twenty files in total.

How many Walsin thin film resistors are there?

93,914 in the data Venatech holds, across three series. That is the number of individual
part numbers with a size, resistance, tolerance, TCR and rated power attached. It is not
Walsin’s own headline figure for the thin film catalogue, which is far larger and counts
differently.

Series as Walsin names it Parts held Sizes Rated power
Thin Film Precision Chip Resistor /WF Series 58,314 0201 to 2512, eight sizes 1/32 W to 1 W
Tantalum nitride Thin Film Chip Resistor / MF Series 20,520 1206 only 2/5 W only
Anti-Sulfuration Thin Film Chip Resistor /SF Series 15,080 2010 and 1206 1/8 W to 3/4 W
Total 93,914 — —

All 93,914 part numbers are exactly twelve characters long and none contains a space, unlike
the thick film chip resistor export where 39,576 of 234,815 carry an embedded space.

Unique to Venatech’s data. Nine of Walsin’s twenty thin film exports return zero rows,
and the 93,914 parts held come from the eleven that return data. The empty nine include the
entire AEC-Q200 WF-Q professional series, the TTL high power low-TCR current sensor series,
the SF-A series, the AEC-Q200 anti-sulfuration SF series, and the WF 0204 and 0207 sizes.

Which Walsin thin film series actually exist in the data?

Three, and only three. WF is the general precision family and carries almost two thirds of
the rows. MF is tantalum nitride, a single size at a single power rating. SF is
anti-sulfuration, weighted almost entirely to 2010. Walsin’s public thin film section implies
more series than the exports deliver.

The eleven that return data:

Export Rows
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_1206 8,427
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_0805 7,985
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_2512 7,823
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_0603 7,562
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_2010 7,436
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_1210 7,216
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_0402 6,359
Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_0201 5,506
Tantalum_nitride_Thin_Film_Chip_Resistor_MF_Series_1 20,520
Anti_Sulfuration_Thin_Film_Chip_Resistor_SF_Series_2 14,810
Anti_Sulfuration_Thin_Film_Chip_Resistor_SF_Series_1 270

WF is split one file per case size, because Walsin’s export fails above roughly 10,000 rows.
MF and SF are split by index number, and in both families some numbered slices come back empty.

Why do nine of Walsin’s twenty thin film exports return zero rows?

Because the series exists on Walsin’s pages but the parametric search has no data behind it.
The file downloads, the header row is present, and the body is empty. From a buyer’s point of
view the part is invisible: it cannot be filtered, compared or specified from the public tool.

Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_0207 WF at 0207 No 0207 thin film part in the data

WF-Q and TTL matter most. WF-Q is the AEC-Q200 route into Walsin thin film, so no
automotive-qualified candidate list can be built at all. TTL is the high power, low-TCR current
sensor family, which leaves thick film and metal as the only Walsin shunt options selectable
parametrically.

How do I tell a Walsin thin film part from a thick film part with the same prefix?

Read the fifth character. Walsin reuses WF, MF and SF as part number prefixes in both the
thick film and the thin film catalogues, so the prefix alone tells you nothing. The fifth
character does, and across 234,815 thick film and 93,914 thin film rows the two sets never
overlap.

Prefix Thick film rows Thin film rows Thick film fifth character Thin film fifth character
WF 76,968 58,314 A, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, S, V B, F, Q, R, T, U, W, Z
MF 14,791 20,520 E, H, P F, Q, R, W
SF 10,690 15,080 H, P Q, R, T, U, W

Unique to Venatech’s data. Walsin’s WF, MF and SF prefixes each appear in both the thick
film and the thin film catalogue, with zero exact part number collisions. The discriminator is
the fifth character, and the two letter sets do not overlap on any of the three prefixes.

WF12K1001BTL and WF12T1001TTL are both 1206 (3216) parts at 1 kΩ, both starting WF12, and
they are different technologies.

Same prefix, same size, same resistance, same TCR — different technology, different tolerance,
half the power. If the BOM says WF12 and nothing else, it is not specified. The technology

What is in the WF precision thin film series?

58,314 parts across eight case sizes from 0201 (0603) to 2512 (6432), with TCR classes down
to ≦±3 ppm and rated power from 1/32 W to 1 W. Resistance runs 1 Ω to 3 MΩ. It is the only
thin film series in the data with a size spread, and the only one that reaches single-digit
TCR.

Case size Parts Rated power in the data
0201 (0603) 5,506 1/20 W, 1/32 W
0402 (1005) 6,359 1/10 W, 1/16 W

2010 (5025) 7,436 1/2 W, 3/4 W
2512 (6432) 7,823 1 W, 3/4 W

TCR classes present are ≦±3, ≦±5, ≦±10, ≦±15, ≦±25 and ≦±50 ppm. The tightest, ≦±3 ppm, covers
3,064 parts and is carried by a B at the fifth character: WF04B10R0TTL is a 0402 (1005) part
at 10.0 Ω, ≦±3 ppm, 1/10 W. WF25F10R0TTL is a 2512 (6432) part at 10.0 Ω, ≦±15 ppm, 1 W.

What is in the tantalum nitride MF series?

20,520 parts, all of them 1206 (3216) and all of them rated 2/5 W. One size, one power, and
20,520 combinations of resistance, tolerance and TCR. Tantalum nitride is the film choice
where moisture resistance matters, and Walsin offers it in exactly one footprint.

Five tolerance classes at 4,104 parts each and four TCR classes at 5,130 each give a full
5 × 4 grid over 1,026 resistance values from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ.

Tolerance Parts TCR class Parts
±0.05% 4,104 ≦±10 ppm 5,130
±0.1% 4,104 ≦±15 ppm 5,130
±0.25% 4,104 ≦±25 ppm 5,130
±0.5% 4,104 ≦±50 ppm 5,130
±1% 4,104 — —

MF12Q10R0ATL is the first row of the grid: 1206, 10.0 Ω, ±0.05%, ≦±50 ppm, 2/5 W.
MF12W1001ATL is the same tolerance at ≦±10 ppm and 1000 Ω. The tolerance letter sits at
position 10 — A for ±0.05%, B for ±0.1%, C for ±0.25%, D for ±0.5%, F for ±1%.

What is in the anti-sulfuration SF series?

15,080 parts, 14,810 of them at 2010 (5025) and only 270 at 1206 (3216). Rated power runs
1/8 W to 3/4 W and TCR is ≦±25 or ≦±50 ppm on all but four parts. Anti-sulfuration
construction protects the internal silver from sulphur attack, which is why it appears in
automotive and industrial environments.

The size weighting is the headline: 98.2% of the range is 2010, so a layout with no room for a
2010 leaves 270 parts, not 15,080.

Field SF20T1001ATL SF20R1001CTL Match / mismatch
Case size 2010 (5025) 2010 (5025) Match
Resistance 1000 Ω 1000 Ω Match
Tolerance ±0.05% ±0.25% Mismatch — five times looser
TCR ≦±50 ppm ≦±25 ppm Mismatch — R class is tighter
Rated power 1/2 W 3/4 W Mismatch — R class carries more power
Termination Sn base (lead free) Sn base (lead free) Match

The trade sits in the fifth character. T gives the tighter tolerance at lower power; R gives
the tighter TCR and more power.

SF12T1R00ATL is the 1206 entry point: 1.00 Ω, ±0.05%, ≦±50 ppm, 1/8 W. Anti-sulfuration also
exists as a thick film array family under the SA prefix, in a different catalogue.

What is the difference between 93,914 parts and 1,169,070 parts?

93,914 is what Venatech can hand you as structured data. 1,169,070 is Walsin’s own listed
total for thin film, which on Walsin’s figures is about 82% of a roughly 1,433,800-part full
catalogue. The two numbers answer different questions and must never be used as if they were
the same number.

1,169,070 is a catalogue claim, not a selectable list. 93,914 is what can be filtered, compared
and specified today. Venatech uses the second for engineering work and names the first only as
Walsin’s own total. The same distinction applies across every product line and is set out in

FAQ

How many Walsin thin film resistors are there?

Venatech holds 93,914 Walsin thin film parts with full parameters: 58,314 in the WF precision series, 20,520 tantalum nitride MF parts and 15,080 anti-sulfuration SF parts. Walsin’s own listed total for thin film is 1,169,070 parts, which is a catalogue claim rather than a selectable, parameterised list.

Which Walsin thin film exports return no data?

Nine of twenty. The AEC-Q200 WF-Q professional series, the TTL high power low-TCR current sensor series, the AEC-Q200 anti-sulfuration SF series, the SF-A series, one SF slice, two MF slices, and the WF 0204 and 0207 size files all download with a header row and no body.

Does Walsin make an AEC-Q200 thin film resistor?

Walsin names a Thin Film Professional AEC-Q200 Chip Resistor WF-Q series, but its parametric export returns zero rows, so no candidate list can be built from the public search tool. Venatech holds no public datasheet URL for it either. Ask Venatech to obtain the current WF-Q part list and datasheet directly from Walsin.

What sizes does the Walsin WF thin film series come in?

Eight: 0201 (0603) with 5,506 parts, 0402 (1005) with 6,359, 0603 (1608) with 7,562, 0805 (2012) with 7,985, 1206 (3216) with 8,427, 1210 (3225) with 7,216, 2010 (5025) with 7,436 and 2512 (6432) with 7,823. The 0204 and 0207 exports return zero rows.

What is a tantalum nitride thin film resistor used for?

Tantalum nitride film resists moisture-driven drift better than nichrome, which suits humid and condensing environments. Walsin’s MF series is the tantalum nitride family: 20,520 parts, all 1206 (3216), all rated 2/5 W, in a complete grid of five tolerance classes from ±0.05% to ±1% and four TCR classes from ≦±10 to ≦±50 ppm.

What is the tightest TCR Walsin offers in thin film?

≦±3 ppm, carried by 3,064 parts in the WF precision series and identified by a B at the fifth character of the part number. WF04B10R0TTL is one of them, a 0402 (1005) part at 10.0 Ω and 1/10 W. The MF and SF series stop at ≦±10 ppm and ≦±10 ppm respectively.

How do I know if a Walsin WF part number is thin film or thick film?

Read the fifth character. Thin film WF parts use B, F, Q, R, T, U, W or Z; thick film WF parts use A, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, S or V. The sets do not overlap across 76,968 thick film and 58,314 thin film WF rows. The same test works for MF and SF.

Can I get anti-sulfuration thin film in a 1206?

Yes, but the choice is narrow. Only 270 of the 15,080 anti-sulfuration SF thin film parts are 1206 (3216); the other 14,810 are 2010 (5025). SF12T1R00ATL is a 1206 example at 1.00 Ω, ±0.05%, ≦±50 ppm and 1/8 W. If the layout cannot take a 2010, confirm availability on the specific 1206 value early.
