39,576 of the 234,815 Walsin Technology (Walsin) chip resistor part numbers Venatech
Limited holds contain an embedded space. Paste one into a BOM field or a search box and the
line fails. The space is not a typo: it sits in a fixed-width resistance field. Two
different patterns exist, and only one of them is safe to delete.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds Walsin’s full chip
resistor export: 234,815 rows across 137 files. Every figure below is counted from it.
Why does my Walsin part number have a space in it?
Because the resistance code field is four characters wide and a 5% value only needs three.
Walsin’s export pads the unused fourth position with a space instead of closing it up. The
result is a 12-character string with a gap in the middle, such as WK25V470 JTL, which no
BOM tool and no search box will match.
| Position | 1-2 | 3-4 | 5 | 6-9 | 10 | 11-12 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
WF25V47R0FTL (±1%) |
WF | 25 | V | 47R0 | F | TL |
WK25V470 JTL (±5%) |
WK | 25 | V | 470 + space |
J | TL |
Both are real rows: WF25V47R0FTL is a 2512 (6432) high voltage part at 47.0 Ω, ±1%, 1 W, and
WK25V470 JTL is the same case size at 47 Ω, ±5%, 1 W. The tolerance letter at position 10
tells you which field width applies — J for ±5%, K for ±10%, M for ±20%, F for ±1%, G for ±2%.
How many Walsin chip resistor part numbers contain a space?
39,576 of 234,815, or 16.9% of the extract. They break into two structurally different
patterns plus a small third group. 38,655 have an eight-character stem, 921 have a full
twelve-character part number followed by a two-character code, and 75 carry two spaces.
| Pattern | Rows | Shape | Example | Safe to close the gap? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A — short stem | 26,114 | 8 chars + space + 3 chars | WK25V470 JTL |
Yes, on the evidence below |
| A — short stem, extended code | 12,466 | 8 chars + space + 4 chars | WK25S1R0 KTLJ |
Yes, on the evidence below |
| B — full number plus code | 921 | 12 chars + space + 2 chars | WW20WR010FTL HH |
No — the code is a real field |
| C — both at once | 75 | 8 + space + 3 + space + 2 | WR12F1R0 JTL FN |
Partly — close the first, keep the second |
Eleven of Walsin’s fourteen chip resistor series groups are affected.
| Series group | Rows with a space |
|---|---|
| Thick Film General Purpose | 13,607 |
| Thick Film Anti-Surge Chip Resistor | 9,225 |
| Thick Film High Power Chip Resistor | 7,312 |
| Thick Film Trimmable Chip Resistor | 2,940 |
| Thick Film High Voltage Chip Resistor | 2,657 |
| Thick Film Chip Resistor Array | 1,793 |
| Thick Film Wide Terminal Power Chip-Resistor | 725 |
| Thick Film Low Ohm Current Sense Chip-Resistor | 576 |
| Thick Film Chip Resistor Array (Anti-Sulfuration) | 488 |
| Thick Film High Ohm Chip-Resistor (>10 MΩ) | 155 |
| Thick Film Chip Resistor Network, Convex Type | 98 |
Unique to Venatech’s data. 39,576 of Walsin’s 234,815 chip resistor part numbers carry
an embedded space, split 26,114 / 12,466 / 921 / 75 across four structural patterns. The
count and the split are measured from Walsin’s own export and published nowhere else. The
2,940 trimmable parts are affected at 100%.
Which space can I delete, and which one must I keep?
Delete the pattern A space. Keep the pattern B code. In pattern A the space is padding
inside the resistance field, and closing it produces a string that collides with nothing
else in the catalogue. In pattern B the trailing two characters are a live field, and
dropping them lands you on a different, lower-rated part.
The evidence for pattern A is a clean test. Remove the space from all 38,655 pattern A rows
and check the result against all 234,815 part numbers in the extract: zero collisions. No
part number in the catalogue is 11 characters long, which is exactly what a de-spaced
three-character-code part produces.
What does the two-character code after a full Walsin part number mean?
It marks a higher rated power at the same size, resistance and tolerance. In 917 of the 921
pattern B rows, the twelve-character stem also exists on its own as a separate part — and
in every one of those 917 cases the rated power differs. The suffixed part is always the
higher-power one.
Strip the trailing code to make the line paste and you have silently downgraded the part.
| Part number as exported | Size | Resistance | Tolerance | Rated power | Same number with the code stripped | Rated power | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
WW20WR010FTL HH |
2010 (5025) | 0.010 Ω | ±1% | 1 W | WW20WR010FTL |
3/4 W | Mismatch — 25% less power |
WW20WR010JTL HH |
2010 (5025) | 0.010 Ω | ±5% | 1 W | WW20WR010JTL |
3/4 W | Mismatch — 25% less power |
WR20F1R00FTL HN |
2010 (5025) | 1.00 Ω | ±1% | 1 W | WR20F1R00FTL |
3/4 W | Mismatch — 25% less power |
WR12F1R00FTL FN |
1206 (3216) | 1.00 Ω | ±1% | 1/2 W | WR12F1R00FTL |
1/4 W | Mismatch — half the power |
Size, resistance, tolerance and TCR match across each pair. Only rated power differs, and the
series name differs with it: WW20WR010FTL HH sits in Walsin’s Thick Film Power Low ohm
Current Sense Chip Resistor series, WW20WR010FTL in Thick Film Low Ohm Current Sense
Chip-Resistor. One word in a series name, 250 mW in the rating.
The power steps across all 917 pairs: 1/2 W against 1/4 W (217 pairs), 2 W against 1 W (217),
1 W against 3/4 W (215), 3/4 W against 1/3 W (102), 3/4 W against 2/3 W (100) and 1/4 W
against 1/8 W (66).
Unique to Venatech’s data. In 917 of the 921 pattern B rows the twelve-character stem is
itself a separate part number, and in every one of those 917 cases the rated power differs —
always lower without the trailing code. Measured across Walsin’s own export and published
nowhere else.
Four pattern B rows have no plain counterpart: WW20WR025FTL HJ, WW20WR025JTL HJ,
WW10WR025FTL GK and WW10WR025JTL GK. The code is the only version that exists.
Why does a Walsin MLCC part number from the search tool fail when I order it?
Because the MLCC export drops the packaging suffix. All 24,026 MLCC part numbers in Walsin’s
parametric export are exactly twelve characters long and not one of them contains CT.
Walsin’s orderable MLCC numbers carry that packaging suffix, so an exported number such as
0402B104K500 is a valid description and an incomplete order.
The omission is uniform, so there is one rule rather than four patterns. Which suffix belongs
on which line is covered in
The CT suffix: orderable Walsin part numbers.
| Product line | Rows held | Part numbers needing repair | What is wrong |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chip resistor | 234,815 | 39,576 | Embedded space, four patterns |
| MLCC | 24,026 | 24,026 | Packaging suffix omitted from every row |
| Thin film | 93,914 | 0 | Match — all 93,914 are clean 12-character strings |
Thin film is the useful contrast. Same manufacturer, same style of export, and a clean result
on all 93,914 rows — which is why the resistor problem reads as an export artefact rather than
a numbering scheme.
Are there Walsin part numbers with two spaces in them?
Yes, 75 of them, all in the thick film general purpose group. They combine both failures:
the padded resistance field and the trailing power code. WR12F1R0 JTL FN is a 1206 (3216)
part, 1.0 Ω, ±5%, TCR ≦±100 ppm, 1/2 W — a 15-character string with gaps at two positions.
Close the first gap, because it is the pattern A resistance pad. Keep the second, because it
is the pattern B power code. WR12F1R0 JTL also exists on its own as a 1/4 W part.
What else in Walsin’s export is not safe to paste into a BOM?
Three more things, all of them small and all of them capable of failing a line. One MLCC row
has the series name and a tab character jammed into its Size field. One inductor row is a
QA test artefact. And one rated voltage is written in a format the other 24,025 rows do not
use.
| Row | Field | What the export contains | Consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
1808B102M252 |
Size | Middle to High Voltage Caps_(200V-4kV) + tab + 1808 |
A size filter drops the part; a paste carries a tab |
Test123999 |
Part Number | A QA test row, not a product | Never quote, never order, never cross |
| One MLCC row | Rated Voltage | 1300V where every other row uses Vdc |
A string filter on Vdc drops it |
1808B102M252 is a real part — X7R, 1000 pF, ±20%, 2500 Vdc — with a broken Size field, and
it is orderable once the field is corrected. Test123999 is not a part at all: its rated
current field reads 1360 with no unit and its saturation current field reads TEST.
Saturation current 123.88
How do I turn a Walsin search result into an orderable part number?
Work through four checks in order: count the characters, locate the space, decide which
pattern you have, then confirm the packaging suffix. The first three are mechanical. The
fourth needs Walsin, and that is the step most cross-reference tools skip.
- Count. A clean number is 12, 13 or 15 characters: 133,114 rows, 61,729 and 396.
- Locate the space. An eight-character stem means pattern A. A twelve-character stem
means pattern B. - Apply the rule. Close a pattern A gap. Keep a pattern B code, and check the rated
power of the stripped version first. - Confirm packaging. Every exported MLCC number is incomplete without its packaging
suffix.
A 1206 part at 1/4 W and the same 1206 part at 1/2 W are not interchangeable in a thermal
design. Before accepting a stripped code, read

FAQ
Why does my Walsin part number have a space in it?
Walsin’s parametric export uses a fixed four-character resistance field. A ±5%, ±10% or ±20% value only needs three characters, so the export pads the fourth position with a space. The result is a string such as WK25V470 JTL that no BOM field or search box will match, even though the part itself is real.
How many Walsin part numbers are affected?
39,576 of the 234,815 Walsin chip resistor part numbers Venatech holds contain an embedded space — 16.9% of the extract. 38,655 have an eight-character stem, 921 have a full part number plus a two-character code, and 75 carry both. Walsin’s 93,914 thin film part numbers contain no spaces at all.
Can I just delete the space in a Walsin part number?
Only when the stem is eight characters. Closing that gap produces no collision against any of the 234,815 part numbers in the extract. When the stem is a full twelve characters, the trailing two-character code is a live field and deleting it changes the part. Confirm the final format with Walsin before ordering.
What happens if I strip the trailing code from a Walsin part number?
You usually land on a lower-power part. In 917 of 921 cases the twelve-character stem exists separately with a different rated power, and the suffixed version is always the higher one. WR12F1R00FTL FN is 1/2 W; WR12F1R00FTL is 1/4 W. Same size, same resistance, same tolerance, half the power.
Why will my Walsin MLCC part number not order?
Walsin’s MLCC parametric export omits the packaging suffix. All 24,026 exported MLCC part numbers are exactly twelve characters and none contains CT, so a number such as 0402B104K500 describes the part correctly but is not a complete order. The packaging suffix has to be added before the line is placed.
Which Walsin series are worst affected by the space problem?
Thick film general purpose carries the most affected rows at 13,607, followed by anti-surge at 9,225 and high power at 7,312. The trimmable series is affected at 100%: all 2,940 trimmable parts carry a space. High ohm parts above 10 MΩ contribute 155 and the convex resistor network series 98.
Is Test123999 a real Walsin part number?
No. Test123999 is a QA test row present in Walsin’s live inductor parametric export. Its rated current field reads 1360 with no unit and its saturation current field reads TEST Saturation current 123.88. It is not a product, it cannot be ordered, and Venatech excludes it from every count and quotation.
Does the space affect Walsin thin film resistors too?
No. Not one of Walsin’s 93,914 thin film part numbers contains a space, and all 93,914 are exactly twelve characters long. The problem is confined to the thick film chip resistor export. That contrast is the strongest evidence that the space is an export artefact rather than part of Walsin’s numbering scheme.
