208 Walsin Inductors With No Datasheet: What the Export Still Publishes

208 Walsin inductors across the VEFL, WIP, SCM, SCA and BIH series have no walsin inductor
datasheet published anywhere Venatech has located.
That gap is already on record. What has
not been measured before is what the parametric export publishes for them instead: every one of
these parts carries a full row of fields, but several of those fields hold a literal zero where
a real figure should be, and that zero looks identical to a genuine measurement unless you check
the series.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the full inductor
parametric export published by Walsin Technology (Walsin) — 5,411 rows, one of which (Test123999) is a QA
test row excluded from every count below. Of the 5,410 real parts, our own export carries 129
part numbers across the five series named for having no datasheet at all: 27 VEFL, 53 WIP
(across four sub-series), 18 SCM, 18 SCA and 13 BIH. This post audits exactly those 129, field
by field. Every part number named below is real.

Which Walsin inductor series have no datasheet at all?

VEFL, WIP, SCM, SCA and BIH. This is an established finding, not new: Venatech has checked
Walsin’s own site and found no datasheet download for any of these five series, across 208
parts in Walsin’s published range. Being fair to Walsin here matters — the parametric data for
these parts still exists and is not wrong, it is simply not backed by a document a qualification
file can cite.

If there is no datasheet, is there any specification data at all?

Yes. Every one of the 129 part numbers in our own export under these five series carries a
non-empty value in all twelve exported fields — Size, Thickness, Inductance, Impedance,
Tolerance, Q Min, SRF(min), RDC and Rated Current included. Nothing is a blank cell. The
question worth asking is which of those twelve are a real measurement and which are a
placeholder number sitting in a field that is not blank by type, only blank in substance.

Which fields does the export actually fill in for these parts?

Three fields are real and usable on all 129 rows without exception: Size, Thickness and
RDC and Rated Current. Every row gives a real case size, a real thickness in millimetres and
a real DC resistance and rated current figure you could use to shortlist a part today.

Impedance at 100 MHz is real on 49 of the 129 — all 18 SCM, all 18 SCA and all 13 BIH rows
publish a genuine non-zero figure, from 67 Ω up to several hundred Ω depending on the part. The
other 80 — all 27 VEFL and all 53 WIP rows — read a literal 0 in that column.

Series Parts Impedance (100 MHz) real? Tolerance real?
SCM Series 18 Yes, 18/18 Yes, ±20%
SCA Series 18 Yes, 18/18 Yes, ±20%
BIH Series 13 Yes, 13/13 No — literal 0, not a percentage, on 13/13
VEFL Series 27 No — 0/27 Yes, ±20%
WIP Series 22 No — 0/22 Yes, ±20%
WIP_S Series 19 No — 0/19 Yes, ±20%
WIP_A Series 8 No — 0/8 Yes, ±20%
WIP_Y Series 4 No — 0/4 Yes, ±20%

Which fields are blank in all but name?

Tolerance is the clearest case. 116 of the 129 rows publish ±20%, a real figure. All 13 BIH
rows instead carry the literal number 0 in the Tolerance column — not 0%, not a blank cell,
a bare integer zero that a spreadsheet treats as a valid numeric tolerance rather than a missing
one. Reading that column without checking its type would tell you a BIH part has zero tolerance,
which is not a real claim Walsin or Venatech can stand behind.

Q Min and SRF(min) follow the same pattern. Both are genuinely populated on only 5 of the 129
rows, all in WIP_S Series; the other 124 read 0 in both columns. Saturation Current is blank
on every one of the 129 — consistent with the wider catalogue, where only 146 of all 5,410
inductors publish it at all.

Are SCM and SCA really two different products?

On every field we can check, no. All 18 SCM part numbers have an exact SCA counterpart sharing
the same suffix code, and every electrical field matches:

SCM part number SCA part number Impedance (100 MHz) RDC Rated current Match / mismatch
SCM2012FS670M SCA2012FS670M 67 Ω / 67 Ω 0.25 Ω / 0.25 Ω 400 mA / 400 mA Match on every published field
SCM2012FS750M SCA2012FS750M 75 Ω / 75 Ω 0.3 Ω / 0.3 Ω 400 mA / 400 mA Match on every published field
SCM2012FS900M SCA2012FS900M 90 Ω / 90 Ω 0.35 Ω / 0.35 Ω 330 mA / 330 mA Match on every published field

All 18 pairs match this way — same impedance, same tolerance, same RDC, same rated current,
same 2012(0805) case size and 1.2 mm thickness. The only difference between an SCM part and its
SCA counterpart is the four letters at the front of the part number and the series label
attached to it. Neither series has a datasheet, so there is nothing in writing that explains why
Walsin maintains two series names for what the export shows as one electrical part.

What should I do with a part from one of these five series?

Treat Size, Thickness, RDC and Rated Current as usable for a first pass, because all 129 rows
publish real values there. Treat Impedance as usable only on SCM, SCA and BIH rows — VEFL and
WIP read zero. Treat Tolerance as usable everywhere except BIH, where it reads a bare zero
instead of a percentage. Treat Q Min and SRF(min) as usable only on the 5 WIP_S Series rows
that carry them. For anything outside that list, request the figure from Walsin directly before
you qualify the part — see
rated current vs saturation current in chip inductors
for the same gap measured across the full 5,410-part catalogue, and
why Walsin part numbers do not paste into your BOM
for other places the export needs a second look before it goes in a BOM. Browse the
Walsin inductor range or send us the part number and we will tell you
exactly which fields we can confirm.

The short version

208 Walsin inductors across VEFL, WIP, SCM, SCA and BIH have no datasheet — that much was
already known. What is new here: of the 129 such parts in our own export, every row is fully
populated by field count, but Impedance is real on only 49, Tolerance is a literal zero rather
than a percentage on all 13 BIH rows, and Q Min/SRF(min) are real on only 5. SCM and SCA publish
identical specifications under two different series names.

Send us your BOM line from any of these five series and we will tell you exactly which fields
are measured and which are placeholders, before you put a number from this export into a design
review.

Check it against the catalogue yourself. Cross-reference accepts one part number or a whole BOM column and prints the mismatches as plainly as the matches — qualification stays with you, which is the honest division of labour. Ready stock covers the inductor lines held in Hong Kong.

Frequently asked questions

Which Walsin inductor series have no datasheet published anywhere?

VEFL, WIP, SCM, SCA and BIH — 208 parts across Walsin’s published range, confirmed by checking Walsin’s own product pages directly. Venatech holds no datasheet PDF for any Walsin inductor series, but these five have none published at all, by anyone.

If there’s no datasheet, does the parametric export still have useful data?

Yes. Of the 129 such part numbers in Venatech’s own export, every row publishes a real Size, Thickness, RDC and Rated Current. Those four fields are usable for a first pass even without a datasheet. Other fields vary by series — see the field-by-field table above.

Does the Impedance column mean anything for VEFL and WIP parts?

No. All 27 VEFL rows and all 53 WIP rows (across its four sub-series) read a literal 0 in the Impedance (100 MHz) column. Impedance is only a real, non-zero figure for SCM, SCA and BIH parts in this group of five series.

Why does the BIH series show a Tolerance of 0?

All 13 BIH rows carry the literal integer 0 in the Tolerance column rather than a percentage like the ±20% every other row in this group publishes. It is not a true zero-tolerance claim; it reads as a numeric placeholder and should not be quoted as a specification.

Are SCM and SCA the same inductor under two names?

On every field the export publishes, yes. All 18 SCM part numbers have an SCA counterpart with an identical impedance, tolerance, RDC and rated current at the same case size. Venatech has not found a Walsin document explaining the two series names and flags this for confirmation.

Can I design in a part from the WIP_S series and use its Q Min figure?

WIP_S is the only one of the five series where Q Min and SRF(min) are genuinely populated — on 5 of its 19 rows. The other 14 WIP_S rows, and all of VEFL, WIP, WIP_A and WIP_Y, read a literal 0 in both columns.

What should I ask Walsin for before qualifying a part from these five series?

The datasheet does not exist, so ask for whichever specific field is missing for your part: Impedance for a VEFL or WIP part, a real Tolerance for a BIH part, or Q Min/SRF(min) for anything outside the five populated WIP_S rows. Venatech will make the request on your behalf.
