MLCC Capacitance Values in Stock for Italy: 28 of 73 E12 Steps Are Held at All of 0402, 0603 and 0805

MLCC capacitance values in stock for an Italian design are not a full ladder. Of the 73 E12 steps from 10 pF to 10 uF, our Hong Kong snapshot holds 28 at all of 0402, 0603 and 0805, 24 at two sizes, 14 at one and 7 at none. We counted every stocked code against every step.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, publishes a dated stock snapshot, and a snapshot is a list of codes, not a promise that your value is on it. This post is written from 370 stocked codes at 0402, 0603 and 0805 in our snapshot as at 23 September 2026, set against 00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx from Walsin Technology (Walsin). We will not tell you a gap is a shortage. We will show you which steps have a stocked code and which have none. Every part number below is real, and the question for an Italian buyer is a design-in one: if your value sits between two stocked steps, what do you do?

Which E12 capacitance steps does Hong Kong stock hold at 0402, 0603 and 0805?

Between 55 and 74 percent of the ladder, depending on size. We built the E12 ladder from 10 pF to 10 uF, which is 73 steps, and checked each size against it. 0402 holds 40 of 73 steps, 0603 holds 54 and 0805 holds 52, on 98, 128 and 144 stocked codes. The export offers 60, 66 and 66 of the same steps at those sizes.

Size Stocked codes, 10 pF to 10 uF Distinct capacitance values E12 steps held, of 73 E12 steps in the Walsin export Match / mismatch (stock against export ladder)
0402 98 51 40 (54.8%) 60 Mismatch: 20 export steps have no stocked code
0603 128 68 54 (74.0%) 66 Mismatch: 12 export steps have no stocked code
0805 144 66 52 (71.2%) 66 Mismatch: 15 export steps have no stocked code

Three method notes, so you can repeat it. We converted every capacitance to picofarad first, because the export writes 1.5 nF as 1500pF and 1.5 uF as 1500nF. We counted only Walsin codes that open with the four-digit case size, such as 0603B104K100, which excludes the HH, RF and SH specialty prefixes. And we ignored dielectric, voltage and tolerance, so a step counts as held if any stocked code sits on it. That makes the figures generous, not harsh. 53 stocked codes under 10 pF, and 22 uF and 47 uF codes above the ladder, are outside the count.

How many steps are held at all three sizes, and which seven are held at none?

28 steps are held at all three sizes and 7 at none. We counted, for each of the 73 steps, how many of the three sizes have a stocked code. The split is 28, 24, 14 and 7 for three, two, one and no sizes. Six of the seven empty steps are also absent from the export at all three sizes, so they are gaps in the range, not gaps in the stock.

Sizes holding the step Steps Which steps Match / mismatch
All three 28 for example 100 nF (0603B104K100, 0402B104K160, 0805B104K160) Match across sizes
Two of three 24 Mismatch: one size has no stocked code
One of three 14 Mismatch: two sizes have no stocked code
None 7 560 nF, 1.2 uF, 1.8 uF, 2.7 uF, 3.9 uF, 5.6 uF, 8.2 uF Mismatch: no stocked code at any of the three sizes

Only 560 nF is on offer in the export at one or more of the three sizes: it exists at 0603 (0603B564J100) and 0805 (0805B564K100) and not at 0402. The other six, 1.2 uF to 8.2 uF, appear in the export at none of 0402, 0603 or 0805 under this code pattern. We have not seen this counted anywhere: a distributor’s stock set against the E12 ladder at the three commonest sizes, with the empty steps named and separated into stock gaps and range gaps.

Which E6 values have no stocked code at each size?

0402 lacks 12 of 37 E6 steps, 0805 lacks 5 and 0603 lacks 4. The E6 values (1.0, 1.5, 2.2, 3.3, 4.7, 6.8 in each decade) are the ones most designs pick first. We checked all 37 against each size. 0603 misses only 1.5, 3.3, 4.7 and 6.8 uF, all at the top of the range. 0402 misses steps in five of its six decades.

Size E6 steps held, of 37 E6 steps with no stocked code Match / mismatch
0402 25 33 pF, 47 pF, 680 pF, 1.5 nF, 3.3 nF, 6.8 nF, 150 nF, 680 nF, 1.5 uF, 3.3 uF, 6.8 uF, 10 uF Mismatch: 12 gaps
0603 33 1.5 uF, 3.3 uF, 4.7 uF, 6.8 uF Mismatch: 4 gaps, all at 1.5 uF and above
0805 32 22 pF, 33 pF, 68 pF, 150 nF, 2.2 uF Mismatch: 5 gaps

The export has a code for most of these. At 0402 it lists 0402N470F100 at 47 pF and 0402X684K100 at 680 nF, and at 0805 it lists 0805B225K100 at 2.2 uF, none of which is on the stock list.

Where in the capacitance range does each size go thin?

0402 is complete in the 10 to 100 nF decade and nearly empty in the next one down. We split the ladder into six decades and counted held steps in each. At 0402, the 10 to 100 nF decade holds 12 of 12 steps and the 1 to 10 nF decade holds 4 of 12. At 0603, every decade from 10 pF to 100 nF holds 10 or 11 of 12.

Decade 0402 0603 0805 Match / mismatch across the three sizes
10 to 100 pF 7 of 12 10 of 12 6 of 12 Mismatch: 0805 and 0402 thin
100 pF to 1 nF 9 of 12 11 of 12 11 of 12 Mismatch: 0402 lags
1 to 10 nF 4 of 12 11 of 12 11 of 12 Mismatch: 0402 has 8 empty steps
10 to 100 nF 12 of 12 10 of 12 10 of 12 Mismatch: 0402 is the only complete decade
100 nF to 1 uF 5 of 12 9 of 12 8 of 12 Mismatch: 0402 lags
1 to 10 uF (13 steps) 3 of 13 3 of 13 6 of 13 Mismatch: all three thin

Every decade differs between sizes. None of the six decades has the same count at all three sizes, so a value that is stocked at one size says little about the next.

What does Walsin’s export offer where the stock holds nothing?

Often a code exists. We listed, for each size, the steps the export has and the stock lacks: 20 at 0402, 12 at 0603, 15 at 0805. That is 47 size-and-step pairs where Walsin lists a code and our snapshot does not. A selection of them, each checked in the export:

Size and step Stocked? A Walsin export code at that step Match / mismatch
0402, 1.5 nF No 0402B152J160 Mismatch: in the export, not in stock
0402, 6.8 nF No 0402B682J160 Mismatch: in the export, not in stock
0603, 1.5 uF No 0603X155K100 Mismatch: in the export, not in stock
0603, 4.7 uF No 0603B475K100 Mismatch: in the export, not in stock
0805, 150 nF No 0805B154K100 Mismatch: in the export, not in stock
0402, 4.7 uF Yes 0402X475M100 Match: stocked and in the export
0603, 2.2 uF Yes 0603X225K100 Match: stocked and in the export

A code that is in the export and not on the snapshot is not an out-of-stock part. It is a part we have not listed as held on 23 September 2026. Ask us, and cross it with the free cross-reference tool to see the Walsin range around your value.

How should an Italian buyer read a gap in a stock ladder?

As a question to ask, not a verdict. A gap at 0402 on your value does not mean the part is unobtainable, and a stocked step does not mean your voltage and dielectric are stocked. On our snapshot, the 40 held steps at 0402 carry 98 codes, so each held step has about two stocked variants and your voltage or tolerance may still be missing.

Three checks, each measured above:

  1. Check the next size up or down. 28 steps are held at all three sizes, but 38 are held at one or two, so a value missing at 0402 is often held at 0603.
  2. Check the E6 neighbour. 0603 lacks only four E6 steps, all at 1.5 uF and above.
  3. Check the export. 47 size-and-step gaps have a Walsin code listed, and the stock list is a dated snapshot, not the whole range.

We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, covering the 26 MLCC and 2 chip resistor series, and the datasheet is what to qualify against. Ask for the sheet covering your part number and it will be in your inbox. For case-size codes in metric and imperial, see passive component case sizes, imperial and metric, and for the cross-reference method itself, how to cross-reference an MLCC. What is in Hong Kong is on ready stock, 1,125 part numbers as at 23 September 2026, a dated snapshot and not a live feed. The capacitor range sits on the MLCC page.

The short version

Of the 73 E12 steps from 10 pF to 10 uF, our Hong Kong snapshot of 23 September 2026 holds 40 at 0402, 54 at 0603 and 52 at 0805. 28 steps are held at all three sizes, 24 at two, 14 at one and 7 at none, and six of those seven are not in the export at these sizes either. 0603 lacks only four E6 steps, all at 1.5 uF and above; 0402 lacks 12. 0402 holds all 12 steps in the 10 to 100 nF decade and 4 of 12 in the 1 to 10 nF decade. Walsin lists a code where our snapshot has none on 47 size-and-step pairs. We will not tell you a stocked step matches your design. We will show you which steps have a code. Qualification stays with you; confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.

Send us the capacitance, size and voltage of the three values on your BOM you cannot find, and we will tell you which are stocked, which are listed by Walsin and which are neither. And a question back: when a value is missing at 0402, does your design rules permit 0603?

Which MLCC capacitance values are in Hong Kong stock for an Italian buyer?

At 0402, 0603 and 0805 together, 28 of the 73 E12 steps from 10 pF to 10 uF have a stocked code at all three sizes, 24 at two, 14 at one and 7 at none. The count uses the snapshot dated 23 September 2026 and ignores dielectric, voltage and tolerance.

How many E12 steps does 0402 hold in stock?

40 of 73, on 98 stocked codes. The 10 to 100 nF decade is complete at 12 of 12 steps, while the 1 to 10 nF decade holds 4 of 12. The Walsin export lists 60 of the 73 steps at 0402, so 20 steps have a Walsin code and no stocked code.

Which E6 values are missing at 0603?

Four of 37: 1.5 uF, 3.3 uF, 4.7 uF and 6.8 uF. All four are at the top of the ladder. The export lists codes for 1.5 uF, 3.3 uF and 4.7 uF at 0603, for example 0603X155K100 and 0603B475K100, so those are stock gaps rather than range gaps.

Which steps are stocked at none of the three sizes?

Seven: 560 nF, 1.2 uF, 1.8 uF, 2.7 uF, 3.9 uF, 5.6 uF and 8.2 uF. Only 560 nF is listed in the export at these sizes, at 0603 and 0805. The other six are not listed at 0402, 0603 or 0805 under the four-digit code pattern we counted.

Does a stocked step mean my voltage is stocked too?

No. We counted a step as held if any stocked code sits on it, whatever its voltage, dielectric or tolerance. At 0402 the 40 held steps carry 98 codes, about 2.5 per step, so check the voltage and tolerance against the specific code.

Why does the export write 1.5 nF as 1500pF?

The export mixes units. We converted every capacitance to picofarad before matching, so a value written 1500nF is read as 1.5 uF. A filter that compares the unit text rather than the value will miss it, which is why a step can look absent from the export when it is not.
