Passive components for Armenia’s industrial electronics makers, from Hong Kong, start with knowing which resistor family you are really in. Of 2,940 Walsin Technology (Walsin) trimmable chip resistors, 1,843 have a General Purpose neighbour on case size, resistance and rated power. 336 have a neighbour on our 23 September 2026 shelf. None of the 2,940 is itself stocked.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, wrote this for a design or purchasing engineer at an Armenian company that builds its own industrial or measurement products and calibrates them. We do not know your products. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. The one development we cite names its source, its date and the day we fetched it (23 October 2026).
What did Armenia’s high-tech ministry say about making products?
It said Armenia should build more of its own. ARKA News Agency reported on 20 May 2026 that the minister of high-tech industry said the country should move from providing technology services toward developing, manufacturing and exporting its own products, at an event, RISE Powered by Silicon Mountains, set for 3 and 4 June in Yerevan with a second stage on 3 and 4 November.
The article says the government would co-finance the event with about 60 million drams, that more than 40 companies would exhibit, and that the organiser, the Union of Employers in Information and Communications Technology, has over 130 member companies employing over 30,000 people. It carries no detail about electronics, hardware, components or shortages, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any Armenian company buys. We have no relationship with the ministry, the organiser or ARKA, and we have not confirmed that the November stage went ahead as announced.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Policy direction | Move from technology services to own products | ARKA, 20 May 2026 | Match for the building-your-own-product context; mismatch with any parts claim, none is made |
| Event | RISE, 3 to 4 June, second stage 3 to 4 November | ARKA, 20 May 2026 | Mismatch: dates are as announced, not confirmed by us |
| Scale | Over 40 exhibitors; organiser has 130 plus members | ARKA, 20 May 2026 | Match for context only |
| Components | Not mentioned | ARKA, 20 May 2026 | Mismatch: no part, supplier or shortage is named |
How many trimmable resistors have a General Purpose neighbour?
1,843 of 2,940, or 63 percent. We parsed all 234,815 chip resistor rows and pulled the 2,940 in the Thick Film Trimmable series: 781 at 0603, 829 at 0805, 823 at 1206 and 507 at 2010. We matched each to the General Purpose series on case size, resistance and rated power, with resistance read as a number so that “1.0” and “1” compare equal.
1,843 match, and every one of them is also offered at plus or minus 1 percent. The 1,097 without a neighbour fall into three blocks that differ only in rated power: 274 at 0603 and 1/8 W, because General Purpose 0603 is 1/10 W; 316 at 1206 and 1/8 W, because General Purpose 1206 starts at 1/4 W; and all 507 at 2010 and 1/2 W, where General Purpose offers 3/4 W and 1 W. 336 of the 2,940 have a neighbour that is on the 23 September 2026 list, spread across 115 stocked lines: 162 at 0603, 105 at 0805 and 69 at 1206. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
| Group | Rows | Result | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trimmable series, all sizes | 2,940 | 0 on the shelf; every part number carries a space | Mismatch: nothing stocked, and the space breaks pasted BOMs |
| Neighbour on size, resistance, power | 2,940 | 1,843 yes, 1,097 no | Match on three fields; mismatch on tolerance behaviour |
| No neighbour | 1,097 | 274 at 0603 (1/8 W), 316 at 1206 (1/8 W), 507 at 2010 (1/2 W) | Mismatch: power rating differs from every General Purpose row at that size |
| Neighbour on the shelf | 2,940 | 336 trimmables, 115 stocked lines | Match on three fields; shelf status is a dated snapshot |
Which worked part numbers show the neighbours, and what differs?
Take WK08M101 XTL: 0805, 100 ohm, 0/-30%, 1/8 W. WR08X1000FTL, a plus or minus 1 percent General Purpose part, shares its size, resistance and rated power and is on our shelf; WR08X101 JTL shares the same three fields at 5 percent. What differs is the tolerance field itself: a trimmable part is written 0/-30%, one-sided, so it can only sit at or below nominal, while a neighbour is symmetric. The last column is for your incumbent part.
| Trimmable part | Size, resistance, band, power | General Purpose neighbour(s) | On shelf | Match / mismatch | Your incumbent |

The same size, resistance and power often appears on five trimmable rows: a WK and a WF prefix, in up to three bands, 0/-10%, 0/-20% and 0/-30%. We counted the bands: 676, 1,129 and 1,135 rows. Our existing guide on trimmable chip resistors covers the bands, and E24 and E96 values explains why a neighbour at a standard step may not sit on your trimmed value. The chip resistor range lists the families.
What do Walsin’s documents say about trimmable resistors and industrial use?
Nothing about the trimmable series. We converted all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text and searched them: the trimmable series is described in 0 of 28 files, and the word trimmed appears in 2, the MR and WR resistor sheets, only in their account of how resistor paste is adjusted during manufacture.
Industrial equipment is named as an application in 2 of the 28, the MG and HT capacitor sheets. We hold no datasheet for any trimmable part, and the WR general purpose resistor sheet is ASC_WR_V24, September 2016, ten years old. That means every trimmable fact in this post comes from the parametric export, not from an approval sheet, and we have no tolerance-test or reliability statement for the series.
What will we not tell you about Armenia?
Anything about Armenian customs, tariffs or export control. We hold no office, entity or stock in Armenia; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty, certification requirement, transit time or carrier, and we give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949, and we make no claim that any Walsin part is approved for an industrial, measurement or other end use.
How Venatech helps
Start with the resistor you trim. Paste its part number, with the space as printed, into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload the BOM to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site; tell us your trim band and we will say what the export holds. Lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment are available on request. The neighbour table above is our worked example. Qualification stays with you.
The short version
A trimmable part is a one-sided tolerance, not a looser tolerance. 1,843 of 2,940 Walsin trimmable resistors have a General Purpose neighbour on three fields, 336 have one on the Hong Kong shelf, and 1,097 have none because the power rating differs. Armenia’s minister of high-tech industry said in May 2026 that the country should make and export more of its own products.
Send us the resistor lines you trim or calibrate and we will return the neighbours with every difference stated and the shelf status of each. Do you trim because the application needs it, or because the part you started with offered it?

Frequently asked questions
What did ARKA report on Armenia’s product-making push?
On 20 May 2026 ARKA reported that the minister of high-tech industry said Armenia should move from technology services toward developing, manufacturing and exporting its own products, at an event on 3 to 4 June with a second stage on 3 to 4 November. It names no components.
How many Walsin trimmable resistors have a General Purpose neighbour?
1,843 of 2,940, as at 23 September 2026, share case size, resistance and rated power with a General Purpose part. 1,097 do not, because their rated power differs at 0603, 1206 and 2010. A neighbour is a catalogue match, not a substitute.
Are any trimmable resistors on your shelf?
No. 0 of the 2,940 are on the list. 336 of them have a General Purpose neighbour that is, across 115 stocked lines. Shelf status is a dated snapshot, not live stock, and carries no lead-time or stock guarantee.
What does 0/-30% mean on a trimmable part?
It is a one-sided band: the part sits at or below its coded resistance, never above. The export carries three bands, 0/-10% (676 rows), 0/-20% (1,129) and 0/-30% (1,135). A General Purpose neighbour is symmetric, plus or minus 1 or 5 percent.
Does Walsin publish a datasheet for the trimmable series?
Not in the documents we hold. We searched all 28 datasheets, 451 pages: the series is described in 0 of 28. We hold no tolerance-test or reliability statement for it, and any request to Walsin for one is on our request list.
Do you give customs or export advice for Armenia?
No. We hold no Armenian customs or export-control content, and no office or stock in Armenia. We give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We supply parts, lot and date-code traceability and, on request, a certificate of conformity per shipment.
