Industrial Automation Electronics for Spain: 4,300 Robots Installed in 2025, and 66 of 260 Stocked X7R and X5R Capacitor Lines Have an NP0 Twin, None Above 100 nF and 21 of the Twins on the Shelf

Industrial automation electronics for Spain often need a capacitor whose value holds, and X7R to NP0 is a common swap. Matching our 23 September 2026 stock list to Walsin’s export, 66 of 260 stocked X7R and X5R lines have an NP0 twin, none above 100 nF, and 21 twins are on our shelf.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, wrote this from the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC parametric export (24,026 rows, 23,601 distinct part numbers), our stock list as at 23 September 2026 (1,125 part numbers) and the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages. It is for a design engineer or buyer at a Spanish machine, drive or controls maker. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. The market statements name the source, its date and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.

What did the IFR report about robot installations in Spain?

Spain installed 4,300 industrial robots in 2025. The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) reported in September 2026 that Spain took a 7 percent share of EU installations, with the automotive industry at 43 percent of national demand. The same release put France at 4,500 robots and Italy at 7,800.

For the EU as a whole it reported annual installations down 11 percent to 60,500 units, and an operational stock that passed 700,000 robots. It says nothing about electronic components, shortages or any named supplier, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any Spanish company buys. We have no relationship with the IFR.

Why would an automation design swap X7R for NP0?

Because NP0 does not drift with temperature or voltage the way X7R does. Our view, not the IFR’s: a sensor input filter, a timing network or an oscillator load on a drive or controller wants a value that holds, and NP0 is the dielectric that holds it. Walsin’s general purpose sheet prints the capacitance characteristic as plus or minus 30 ppm for NP0 and plus or minus 15 percent for X7R.

The price of the swap is capacitance. NP0 reaches only a fraction of the value of X7R in the same case, so the swap works at the small values of filters and timing, not at bulk decoupling. Our post on NP0 against X7R against X5R covers the dielectrics, and how to cross-reference an MLCC the method; this one counts what our shelf can cross to.

How many stocked Walsin X7R and X5R lines have an NP0 twin?

66 of 260. We joined all 864 MLCC lines in our stock list, as at 23 September 2026, to the export, kept the 260 general purpose X7R and X5R lines and, for each, looked for a general purpose NP0 part with the same size, capacitance and rated voltage: 66 have one, all X7R, and 21 of the NP0 twins are themselves stocked. We have not seen this counted anywhere.

The ceiling decides it. Of the 148 stocked lines at 100 nF or below, 66 have an NP0 twin; of the 112 above 100 nF, 0 do. In the export, the largest NP0 value is 1 nF at 0201 and 0402, 10 nF at 0603, 22 nF at 0805, 47 nF at 1210 and 100 nF at 1206 and 1812. None of the 51 stocked X5R lines has an NP0 twin.

Stocked size X7R and X5R lines With an NP0 twin NP0 twin also stocked Match / mismatch
0201 29 3 0 Match on size, value, voltage; mismatch on dielectric and tolerance code
0402 57 9 4 Match on three fields; mismatch on dielectric
0603 62 20 9 Match on three fields; mismatch on dielectric
0805 59 23 8 Match on three fields; mismatch on dielectric
1206 34 10 0 Match on three fields; mismatch on dielectric
1210 and 1812 19 1 0 Mismatch for 18: NP0 ceiling is 47 nF and 100 nF
All 260 66 21 194 lines have no NP0 twin

Which worked part numbers show the NP0 twins, and what differs?

Take the stocked 0603 line 0603B103K500: X7R, 10 nF, 50 V, plus or minus 10 percent. 0603N103J500 shares its size, value and voltage as an NP0 part at plus or minus 5 percent, and it is on the shelf; the plus or minus 10 percent NP0 part, 0603N103K500, is not. The same pattern holds at 0805 and 22 nF. The last column is for your incumbent part.

Walsin part Dielectric, value, voltage, tolerance Stock, 23 September 2026 Match / mismatch Your incumbent
0603B103K500 X7R, 10 nF, 50 V, 10% Held Reference line
0603N103J500 NP0, 10 nF, 50 V, 5% Held Match on size, value, voltage; mismatch on dielectric and tolerance
0603N103K500 NP0, 10 nF, 50 V, 10% Not held Match on four fields; mismatch on dielectric and stock
0805B223K500 X7R, 22 nF, 50 V, 10% Held Reference line
0805N223J500 NP0, 22 nF, 50 V, 5% Held Match on size, value, voltage; mismatch on dielectric and tolerance
0402B102K500 X7R, 1,000 pF, 50 V, 10% Held Reference line
0402N102J500 NP0, 1,000 pF, 50 V, 5% Held Match on three fields; mismatch on dielectric and tolerance
1206B104K500 X7R, 100 nF, 50 V, 10% Held Reference line
1206N104K500 NP0, 100 nF, 50 V, 10% Not held Match on four; mismatch on dielectric and stock
0603B104K500 X7R, 100 nF, 50 V, 10% Held Stocked; mismatch: NP0 stops at 10 nF at 0603

A twin is a catalogue match on three fields, not a qualification. The NP0 part is physically the same case but a different ceramic, and its tolerance steps are different; the export also lists some parts twice, among them 0805N103J500. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.

What do Walsin’s documents say about dielectric behaviour?

They print the temperature figure and, in the files we hold, nothing per part about bias. We converted all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text and searched them: the phrase DC bias appears in 1 of 28, as a heading in the full catalogue, and we found no table of capacitance against voltage for any part number. The temperature characteristic is printed in the general purpose sheet: plus or minus 30 ppm for NP0 and plus or minus 15 percent for X7R.

So the case for NP0 on drift is in the documents, and the size of the X7R shift under your bias is not. Walsin’s wording for automotive parts is “compliant”, never “certified”.

What can a Hong Kong distributor not tell a Spanish automation maker?

Anything about Spanish or European machinery, safety or controls rules. We hold no office, entity or stock in Spain; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty, customs position, transit time or carrier, and we give no legal, customs or compliance advice; confirm with your compliance team. We make no claim that any Walsin part is qualified for a safety function.

How Venatech helps

Start with the cross-reference. Paste the capacitor from your sensor or timing circuit into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a bill of materials to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. We offer lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment on request. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949. The tables above came from our own export; the MLCC range lists the series. Qualification stays with you.

The short version

For a Spanish controls board, NP0 is an option on 66 of the 260 X7R and X5R lines we hold, only at 100 nF and below, and only 21 of the twins are on the shelf. Above 100 nF the answer is no, for all 112 lines. Of 28 Walsin datasheets, 1 names DC bias, as a heading.

Send us one filter or timing capacitor from your board and we will return the X7R and NP0 candidates with every difference stated. If your value does not fit under the NP0 ceiling, what will you do about the drift?
