Search on the catalogue code and order on the order code. Venatech Limited, an authorised
Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, held 1,125 part numbers in the 23 September 2026 stock
snapshot, and 865 of those order codes carry a CT packaging suffix the catalogue code does
not. Send the catalogue code to check; confirm the order code before you buy.
This is the procedure, not a survey of the shelf. For the shape of the holding, read
Walsin passive components held in Hong Kong stock.
How do I check whether a Walsin MLCC is in stock?
Send the part number without its packaging suffix. That is the form a stock list, a
parametric export and a datasheet all agree on. Then ask for the orderable form back. The
snapshot behind this article held 732 general MLCC part numbers, 132 specialty MLCC, 254
chip resistor, three safety capacitor, two inductor, one resistor array and one further line.
The check itself takes one message. What makes it fail is almost never availability. It is
the part number format. A buyer pastes what the PO system holds, a stock file holds a
different string for the same physical part, and the search returns nothing. The reader
concludes the part is not held. It is.
Stock is a snapshot dated 23 September 2026 and it moves. Treat the counts above as the
shape of the holding and nothing more. Use the enquiry form for current
availability.
Why does my Walsin part number return nothing against a stock list?
Because the same physical part has two written forms and you are probably holding the wrong
one for searching. Across the 864 MLCC and specialty MLCC lines in the snapshot, zero
order codes matched a part number in Walsin’s parametric extract. 762 of the catalogue
codes did. The failure rate on the order code is total.
That is structural, not a rounding problem. Walsin’s parametric export omits the packaging
suffix entirely, so an exported part number is a specification code. Our stock file records
what was physically received, so it carries the suffix. Paste one into the other and you get
nothing, on every MLCC line.
The split is confined to the capacitor families. All 254 chip resistor lines in the snapshot
have an order code identical to the catalogue code, because the TL, AL and TR packaging
codes already sit inside the Walsin resistor part number.

Unique to Venatech’s data. Every one of the 864 MLCC and specialty MLCC order codes in
the 23 September 2026 snapshot fails to resolve against Walsin’s own parametric extract,
while 762 of the 864 catalogue codes resolve cleanly. The two forms differ by exactly one
thing — theCTsuffix on 865 of the 1,125 lines. The suffix is what makes the part
orderable and what makes it unsearchable.
For the full anatomy of the suffix, read
The CT suffix: turning a Walsin spec code into an orderable part number.
Which form of the part number do I search, and which do I order?
Search the catalogue code. Order the order code. The catalogue code is the specification —
series, case size, dielectric, capacitance, tolerance, voltage. The order code adds how the
part arrives on your line. Both are correct; they answer different questions, and a purchase
order needs the second one.
Write the procedure into your own process and the problem disappears. Strip the trailing
suffix before you search any catalogue, datasheet or parametric export. Restore it, confirmed
per line rather than copied from a neighbour, before the PO goes out. Copying a suffix
sideways across a BOM is a common failure: the snapshot holds S252B222K502CT and
S252B471K502ZT as two safety capacitors with different suffixes.
What does SPQ tell me about how much I can order?
SPQ is the standard packaging quantity — the reel or tape increment the part ships in.
Where the snapshot carries one, it tracks case size almost perfectly, and it is the number
that decides whether your build quantity rounds up. 501 of the 1,125 lines carry an SPQ.
The other 624 do not.
| Case size | MLCC SPQ observed | Chip resistor SPQ observed | Match / mismatch with case size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0201 | 15,000 | 15,000 | Match — both lines use the same increment |
| 0402 | 10,000 | 10,000 | Match |
| 0603 | 4,000 | 5,000 | Mismatch — the resistor reel is larger |
| 0805 | 3,000 or 4,000 | 5,000 | Mismatch — MLCC splits across two increments |
| 1206 | 2,000, 3,000 or 4,000 | 5,000 | Mismatch — MLCC splits across three increments |
| 1210 | 1,000 or 3,000 | — | no resistor line held at this size |
| 1808 / 1812 | 1,000 | — | no resistor line held at this size |
| 2512 | — | 4,000 | no MLCC line held at this size |
The practical reading: a 12,000-piece requirement on an 0402 MLCC at SPQ 10,000 is two
reels, not one and a bit. Ask for the SPQ before you fix the build quantity, not after.
Be aware. 624 of the 1,125 lines carry no SPQ figure at all. That is not a small gap
and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Those lines need the packaging confirmed
per part before you size an order against them. Ask.
What does the date code mean for a part I am reserving?
Walsin’s MLCC application guide says the products should be used within 12 months upon
receipt. A date code on a stock line is therefore not a curiosity; it is the start of your
own use-by clock. 683 of the 1,125 lines carry one. 442 do not.
Read the date code before you reserve against a build that is months out. If a reel has been
sitting, the 12-month window has already been consuming itself. The storage conditions behind
that rule — 5 to 40 °C, 20 to 70% RH, no dew condensation — are in
MLCC shelf life, storage and handling.
Where is the stock held, and does that matter to me?
It matters, because the holding point determines which fields the line carries. 442 lines
sit at Venatech’s own point, 624 at a second holding point, and 59 at both. Every
Venatech-held line carries an SPQ and no date code. Every line at the second point carries a
date code and no SPQ.
That is the honest explanation for both gaps above. The missing SPQ on 624 lines and the
missing date code on 442 lines are not random data quality noise. They are two record systems
with different fields, merged into one sheet. Which field is blank tells you where the part is
sitting, and the 59 lines held at both points are the only ones with a complete row.
The consequence for a buyer is short. A line with an SPQ and no date code needs the date code
confirmed. A line with a date code and no SPQ needs the packaging confirmed. Ask for whichever
is missing.
How do I actually reserve a Walsin part number?
Send the catalogue code, the quantity and the date you need it on site. We come back with
the orderable code including its packaging suffix, the SPQ, the date code position and
whether the line is held at one point or both. A reservation is then a written confirmation
against that specific position.
Include the constraints you care about. If the build has a height ceiling, say so; if it needs
AEC-Q200, say so. Those change which part number we come back with, and it is cheaper to hear
about a mismatch now than after a first article inspection. Certificate of Conformity is
available on request, and every line is supplied through the authorised channel with full lot
and date code traceability.
FAQ
Is a Walsin MLCC in stock if the part number returns no result?
Very possibly yes. Strip the trailing packaging suffix and search again. In the 23 September 2026 snapshot, none of the 864 MLCC order codes resolved against Walsin’s parametric extract while 762 of the catalogue codes did. The suffix is what breaks the search, not availability.
What is the difference between a Walsin order code and a catalogue code?
The catalogue code is the specification: series, case size, dielectric, capacitance, tolerance and rated voltage. The order code adds the packaging suffix that tells the factory how the part ships. On 865 of the 1,125 stocked lines the order code carries a CT suffix that the catalogue code does not.
Do Walsin chip resistor part numbers have the same suffix problem?
No. All 254 chip resistor lines in the snapshot have an order code identical to the catalogue code, because the TL, AL or TR packaging code already sits inside the Walsin resistor part number. The two forms diverge on the MLCC and safety capacitor families, not on resistors.
What does SPQ mean on a Walsin stock line?
SPQ is the standard packaging quantity, the reel or tape increment the part ships in. Across the 501 stocked lines that carry one it tracks case size: 15,000 at 0201, 10,000 at 0402, 4,000 to 5,000 at 0603. Confirm it before you fix a build quantity.
Why do some stocked lines have no SPQ and some no date code?
Because the two holding points keep different fields. All 442 lines at Venatech’s own point carry an SPQ and no date code. All 624 at the second point carry a date code and no SPQ. Only the 59 lines held at both have a complete row. Ask for whichever field is blank.
How long can a Walsin MLCC sit in stock before it should be used?
Walsin’s MLCC application guide states the products should be used within 12 months upon receipt. A date code on a stock line starts that clock. If a reel has been held for some time, the window has already been consuming itself, so check the code before reserving against a distant build.
How current is the stock information in this article?
The part-number counts come from a snapshot dated 23 September 2026 and are already historical. The structure — two written forms, SPQ by case size, two holding points — is the stable part. No piece quantities are published here because a published quantity is wrong within hours.
Can I reserve a part that is not in the snapshot?
Yes. Venatech holds parametric data for 359,974 Walsin part numbers across eight product lines, against 1,125 stocked part numbers. Anything in the catalogue can be ordered against. Send the catalogue codes and we will confirm the route, the packaging and the orderable form per line.
