A 0201 MLCC cross reference in the United States starts from 2,544 Walsin Technology (Walsin) capacitors, not the 27,153 parts a loose size filter can return. We counted every Size cell in the catalogue: 0201 is spelled five ways across four families, and 01005 exists in only two of eight.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds all 203 parametric export files from Walsin. This post is written from the Size column of the MLCC, chip resistor, thin film, inductor, varistor and RF exports, read as raw strings, plus the value columns behind each size. We hold datasheets for the MLCC series and two chip resistor series, and none for thin film, inductor or RF. Every part number below is real. Counts are of part numbers, not pieces.
How many Walsin parts sit at 0201 or 01005, and in which families?
28,516 of 359,135 distinct part numbers, or 7.9 percent, in four of the eight families. We counted every row whose Size cell names 0201 or 01005 in any spelling: 27,153 at 0201 and 1,363 at 01005. Four families have a 0201 shelf. Only two have a 01005 shelf. Disc capacitors, varistors, RF parts and antennas have neither.
| Family | Parts at 0201 | Parts at 01005 | Size string used | Match / mismatch against a literal filter on 0201 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MLCC | 2,544 | 608 (written 01R5) |
0201 |
Match — the only family that writes the bare string |
| Chip resistor | 18,215 (17,827 single, 388 in arrays) | 755 | 0201(0603), 0201*2, 0201*4, 01005(0402) |
Mismatch — suffix on every string |
| Thin film | 5,506 | 0 | 0201(0603) |
Mismatch — suffix |
| Inductor | 888 | 0 | 0603(0201) |
Mismatch — metric code first, 0201 in brackets |
| Varistor, RF, antenna, disc | 0 | 0 | not applicable | Mismatch — nothing at this size |
The MLCC export carries no metric code on any of its 24,026 rows, which is why the imperial and metric spellings below never collide inside one file. They collide across files.
How many ways does the catalogue spell 0201, and what does a literal filter return?
Five spellings, and three different answers depending on how a filter is written. We ran three string tests over every Size cell in six exports: an exact match on 0201 returns 2,544 parts, a starts-with test returns 26,265, and a contains test returns 27,153. The gap between the first and last is 24,609 parts, or 90.6 percent of the true 0201 population. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
| Spelling | Family | Parts | What it means | Match / mismatch against 0201 as an exact string |
|---|---|---|---|---|
0201 |
MLCC | 2,544 | imperial code alone | Match |
0201(0603) |
Chip resistor, thin film | 17,827 and 5,506 | imperial, metric in brackets | Mismatch — 23,333 parts missed |
0201*2 and 0201*4 |
Chip resistor arrays | 194 each | imperial size, element count | Mismatch — 388 parts missed |
0603(0201) |
Inductor | 888 | metric first, imperial in brackets | Mismatch — missed by exact and starts-with tests |
The inductor spelling is the trap. 0603 is a metric code there and the same four digits mean 0603 imperial in the MLCC, chip resistor and thin film exports. A filter that finds 0201 inductors by the string 0603 returns 0603-imperial resistors instead. Our earlier post on metric case sizes covers that collision.
Where does the 0201 MLCC shelf stop?
At 2.2 microfarad, on one series. We parsed the capacitance of all 2,544 rows at 0201 in 00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx, across six series: the highest value is 2.2 microfarad, in the General Purpose series, and it is X5R at 6.3 V. Every other series stops far lower.
| Series at 0201 | Parts | Highest capacitance | Real part | Your incumbent part | Match / mismatch for a 100 nF requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| General Purpose | 1,118 | 2.2 uF | 0201X225M6R3 |
Match — 100 nF exists, for example 0201X104K6R3 |
|
| Microwave RF | 763 | 18 nF | Mismatch — stops at 18 nF | ||
| High Q and Low ESR (HH) | 217 | 100 pF | Mismatch — 1,000 times below | ||
| Ultra Microwave UF | 206 | 10 pF | Mismatch | ||
| Automotive MT | 204 | 10 nF | MT03B102K160 is 1 nF |
Mismatch — a decade below | |
| Automotive MG | 36 | 10 nF | Mismatch |
100 nF at 0201 exists only in the General Purpose series, on 21 parts, and we reproduced that count. Across all 21 the dielectric is X5R, X6S or X7S. None is NPO, and none is in an automotive series. Our published post on the AEC-Q200 0201 ceiling shows why: MT and MG both stop at 10 nF.
Where do the 0201 resistor and inductor shelves stop?
Resistors span 500 million to one on thick film and 444 to one on thin film. We parsed the resistance of 17,827 thick film chip resistors, the resistance of 5,506 thin film parts in Thin_Film_Precision_Chip_Resistor_WF_Series_0201_060.xlsx, and the inductance of 888 rows in Walsin_Inductor_ALL.xlsx. The three shelves stop in very different places.
| Family at 0201 | Parts | Low end | High end | Real part at an end | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chip resistor, 7 series | 17,827 | 0.020 ohm | 10 megohm | WW02CR020JAL, WR02W1005FAL |
Match on range |
| Thin film, 1 series (WF) | 5,506 | 27 ohm | 12 kilohm | WF02Q27R0DTL, WF02T1202BTL |
Mismatch — nothing below 27 ohm or above 12 kilohm |
| Inductor, 3 series | 888 | 0.3 nH | 100 nH | WLCM0603Z0B0N3TB |
Mismatch — no saturation current on any row |
On thin film, 5,506 parts offer only 0.1, 0.5 and 1 percent tolerances, and the temperature coefficient is plus or minus 25 or 50 ppm per degree. For the inductors, all 888 rows publish a DCR and none publishes a saturation current. A sense or filter design at 0201 that needs saturation behaviour has to ask Walsin. Only 26 of the 17,827 chip resistors are the 1/10 W low-ohm current-sense series; the rest are 1/20 W.
Which families have nothing at 01005?
Six of eight. We searched every Size cell in all six exports for 01005 and for its MLCC code 01R5: 755 chip resistors and 608 capacitors, and nothing else. Thin film has no 01005 rows, and the inductor exports have none either, so the smallest inductor is the 0201 part.
| Family | Parts at 01005 | Series | Range | Match / mismatch for a 01005 BOM line |
|---|---|---|---|---|
MLCC 01R5 |
608 | 2 (Ultra-small 317, Microwave RF 291) | 0.2 pF to 100 nF | Match — X5R reaches 100 nF, for example 01R5X104K6R3 |
| Chip resistor | 755 | 1 (thick film general purpose, 1/32 W) | 1 ohm to 1 megohm | Match — tolerance 1 and 5 percent only |
| Thin film, inductor, varistor, disc, RF, antenna | 0 | none | none | Mismatch — no shelf |
Notice that 01005 MLCC reaches 100 nF on X5R while the 0201 General Purpose shelf reaches 2.2 microfarad, so the smaller size gives up a factor of 22 in capacitance. At 01005 the Microwave RF series stops at 22 pF. For the full 01005 resistor grid, see our E96 case-size post.
What should a United States buyer compare when crossing a 0201 part?
Seven fields, and the case string is not one of them. We counted that the Size string alone fails as a selector on 24,609 of 27,153 parts. Our free cross-reference tool decodes the part number and states differences from your original instead of hiding them. Compare these, field by field:
- Capacitance or resistance value at 0201. The shelf stops at 2.2 microfarad, 10 megohm or 100 nH depending on family.
- Dielectric. 2,039 of 2,544 capacitors are NPO; 100 nF and above is X5R, X6S or X7S only.
- Rated voltage. 4 V to 100 V at 0201, and the 100 V group holds 101 parts.
- Thickness. Walsin writes 0.30 plus or minus 0.03 mm on 2,477 of 2,544 rows and four other spellings or widths on the rest.
- Series and grade. Automotive MT and MG stop at 10 nF.
- Power or current. 1/20 W on most resistors, 1/32 W at 01005.
- Your incumbent part’s own datasheet. We do not state any other manufacturer’s specification.
What is in Hong Kong is on ready stock as a dated snapshot of 1,125 part numbers as at 23 September 2026, not a live feed. The capacitor range sits on the MLCC page. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
The short version
27,153 Walsin parts sit at 0201 and 1,363 at 01005, 28,516 of 359,135 in all. A 0201 filter returns 2,544 if exact, 26,265 if starts-with and 27,153 if contains, because the catalogue spells 0201 five ways and the inductor file puts the metric code first. The MLCC 0201 shelf stops at 2.2 microfarad; 100 nF is General Purpose only, on 21 parts. Thin film at 0201 spans 27 ohm to 12 kilohm. Inductors publish no saturation current at 0201. We will not say a 0201 part matches until value, dielectric, voltage and thickness do.
Send us the 0201 and 01005 lines off your BOM and we will return Walsin candidates field by field. And a question back: when your last size filter returned 2,544 parts, did anyone tell you it had missed 24,609?
Frequently asked questions
How many Walsin parts are 0201?
27,153 distinct part numbers: 2,544 MLCC, 17,827 single chip resistors plus 388 in arrays, 5,506 thin film resistors and 888 inductors. A further 1,363 parts are 01005. Together that is 28,516 of 359,135 part numbers, or 7.9 percent. Varistor, disc, RF and antenna parts have no 0201 shelf.
Why does a size filter for 0201 miss most Walsin parts?
Because five different strings denote 0201. An exact match on 0201 returns 2,544 MLCC parts and nothing else. A starts-with test returns 26,265 and misses the 888 inductors written 0603(0201). Only a contains test returns all 27,153. The result depends on how the filter is written.
What is the highest capacitance Walsin offers at 0201?
2.2 microfarad, in the General Purpose series, X5R at 6.3 V or 10 V. 100 nF at 0201 exists only in General Purpose, on 21 parts. The automotive MT and MG series stop at 10 nF, the Microwave RF series at 18 nF and the High Q series at 100 pF.
Does Walsin make 01005 capacitors?
Yes, 608 of them, written 01R5 in the Size column. They sit in the Ultra-small series with 317 parts and the Microwave RF series with 291. The highest value is 100 nF, X5R. Chip resistors also reach 01005 with 755 parts. Thin film and inductors have nothing at that size.
What resistance range does Walsin offer at 0201?
Thick film chip resistors span 0.020 ohm to 10 megohm across 17,827 parts in seven series. Thin film spans only 27 ohm to 12 kilohm across 5,506 parts, with tolerances of 0.1, 0.5 and 1 percent. If your 0201 requirement sits outside the thin film range, thick film is the only Walsin shelf there.
Do 0201 inductors publish saturation current?
No. We checked all 888 inductors at 0201: the DCR column is filled on every row and the saturation current column is empty on every row. Their inductance spans 0.3 to 100 nH in three series. Ask Walsin for saturation behaviour before using one in a power path.
What documentation does Venatech hold for 0201 parts?
We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages: 26 MLCC and 2 chip resistor. We hold none for thin film, inductor or RF, so the 5,506 thin film and 888 inductor rows at 0201 are known only from the export. Every figure here is flagged for confirmation against Walsin’s own datasheet.
