Semiconductor Back-End Equipment Electronics for Malaysia from Hong Kong: About 13 Percent of Global Assembly and Test Is Malaysian and 0 of 14 Walsin 0603 10 kilohm Precision Resistors Are on Our Shelf

Semiconductor back-end equipment electronics in Malaysia sit in the part of the chip chain where Malaysia is strongest. We counted 14 Walsin Technology (Walsin) 0603, 10 kilohm precision resistors at plus or minus 0.1 percent or tighter: 8 thin film and 6 high-precision thick film. Our shelf as at 23 September 2026 holds 0 of them.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin chip resistor and thin film exports (328,729 rows across 157 files), two Walsin resistor datasheets, and a stock list dated 23 September 2026. This post is for a design or purchasing engineer at a Malaysian maker of assembly, handling or test equipment who needs a precision resistor cross for a measurement or reference circuit. Every part number is real and every count is ours. The news statements name their source and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.

Where does Malaysia sit in semiconductor back-end and equipment?

Malaysia holds about 13 percent of global back-end assembly, testing and packaging and about 7 percent of global semiconductor trade, according to Malay Mail on 4 September 2026, quoting the Malaysian Investment Development Authority. The same article says semiconductor exports rose from 141.23 billion ringgit in January to April 2025 to 212.12 billion ringgit in January to April 2026, which is 50.2 percent more by our arithmetic.

The article also says the National Semiconductor Strategy, launched in 2024, targets 500 billion ringgit of semiconductor investment by 2030 and 60,000 trained engineers, and that the strategy seeks a bigger role in equipment and advanced packaging. It notes that investment is shifting from back-end assembly toward front-end design and equipment. A Malaysian Investment Development Authority article dated 2 October 2025 gives the same 13 percent back-end share, calls Malaysia the sixth-largest semiconductor exporter, and says the electrical and electronics sector, which relies on specialised machinery and equipment, is over 40 percent of national exports.

We draw one conclusion, and it is ours: machines that assemble, handle and test chips are bought by people who already know their precision-resistor needs, and what they lack is a second source and a clear list of what differs. We have no relationship with the authority or any Malaysian equipment maker.

Which Walsin 0603 10 kilohm precision resistors cross a test-equipment brief, and what differs?

Fourteen Walsin part numbers sit at 0603, 10 kilohm and plus or minus 0.1 percent or tighter, and only one matches a brief of plus or minus 0.1 percent and 25 ppm or better: WF06J1002BTL, a high-precision thick film part, which is not on our shelf. Our post on high-precision thick film against thin film explains the two constructions.

The brief is an assumption of ours, so swap in yours: 0603, 10 kilohm, plus or minus 0.1 percent, temperature coefficient of 25 ppm per degree or better, 1/10 W.

Walsin part Family Tolerance, TCR, power On shelf 23 Sep 2026 Match / mismatch with the brief Your incumbent
WF06J1002BTL High-precision thick film TC25 plus or minus 0.1%, 25 ppm or better, 1/10 W No Match on size, value, tolerance, TCR and power
WF06R1002TTL Thin film plus or minus 0.01%, 25 ppm or better, 1/10 W No Mismatch: tolerance ten times tighter, thin film
WF06U1002TTL Thin film plus or minus 0.01%, 25 ppm or better, 1/16 W No Mismatch: rated 1/16 W, tighter tolerance
WF06B1002TTL Thin film plus or minus 0.01%, 3 ppm or better, 1/10 W No Mismatch: much tighter tolerance and TCR
WF06K1002BTL High-precision thick film TC50 plus or minus 0.1%, 50 ppm or better, 1/10 W No Mismatch: TCR 50 ppm
WF06H1002BTL High-precision thick film TC100 plus or minus 0.1%, 100 ppm or better, 1/10 W No Mismatch: TCR 100 ppm
SF06H1002BTL High-precision anti-sulfuration plus or minus 0.1%, 100 ppm or better, 1/10 W No Mismatch: TCR 100 ppm, anti-sulfuration series

We counted the set from the exports by filtering size 0603, resistance 10,000 ohm and tolerance: the thin film file returns 8 part numbers, all at plus or minus 0.01 percent, and the chip resistor files return 6 at plus or minus 0.1 percent. The other seven are WF06F1002TTL, WF06Q1002TTL, WF06T1002TTL, WF06W1002TTL, WF06Z1002TTL, WF06H1002BTR and WF06K1002BTLJ, which differ in coefficient, power, series or an extra trailing letter. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.

Why does the WF prefix not tell you which family you are buying?

Because thin film and high-precision thick film share the WF06 prefix and differ in letters later in the number: the thin film parts above end in a T tolerance letter and the thick film ones in B, and a prefix search returns both. We read the part numbers side by side in the table.

The consequence for a precision circuit is practical. A buyer who searches the prefix for a 10 kilohm 0603 resistor gets 8 thin film parts at plus or minus 0.01 percent and 6 thick film parts at plus or minus 0.1 percent, two constructions with different tolerance grids, in one list. There is no thin film part at plus or minus 0.1 percent at this size and value in the file: the 8 are all at the tighter grade. If your brief says 0.1 percent, the in-family match is thick film.

We also owe you a gap. We hold two Walsin resistor datasheets, the WR general purpose sheet and the MR automotive sheet, and none for thin film or high-precision thick film, so every figure in the table comes from the export, not from a datasheet we can send. The datasheets for these families are on our request list. Until they arrive, treat tolerance, TCR and power as export values to confirm with Walsin.

What does a Hong Kong shelf hold for a Malaysian equipment maker?

None of the 14, and none of the 93,914 thin-film rows; the nearest on the shelf is 5 high-precision thick film parts out of 52,027 in that family: WF12H1202BTL, WF12H5762BTL, WF08H8203BTL, WF04H1202DTL and WF04H3302DTL. All five are 100 ppm parts at plus or minus 0.1 or 0.5 percent, so none crosses a 25 ppm brief.

For a precision build we therefore quote against the export through a request, from Hong Kong, in small lots, and we promise no lead time here. The ready stock list is a dated snapshot, never live-synced, and our post on thin film against thick film covers the choice. The thin film range lists the families.

We make no claim that any Walsin part suits semiconductor equipment: 0 of the 28 datasheets we hold mention semiconductors, test equipment or handlers. We hold lot and date-code traceability, a certificate of conformity per shipment on request and original sealed Walsin packaging. We hold no office, entity or stock in Malaysia, and we give no customs or compliance advice; confirm with your compliance team.

How Venatech helps

Paste your incumbent into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Load a whole BOM, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file, to run every line at once. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026.

Worked example from our own export: the 0603, 10 kilohm, plus or minus 0.1 percent or tighter filter returned 14 distinct part numbers in two families, and our shelf covers none of them. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We serve from Hong Kong in small lots, and a quote is requested through the site. We send the Walsin datasheets we hold, 28 files of 451 pages, on request.

The short version

For a Malaysian equipment maker, the national story is strong and the component story is narrow: 14 Walsin 0603 10 kilohm precision resistors exist, only 1 matches a 0.1 percent, 25 ppm brief, 0 are on our shelf, and we hold no datasheet for either family.

Send us one reference or divider resistor from your test head and we will return the Walsin candidates with the differences stated and the datasheet gap named. If a thin film part is ten times tighter than your brief, do you pay for the grade or specify the one you need?

Frequently asked questions

What share of global back-end semiconductor work is in Malaysia?

Malay Mail reported on 4 September 2026 that the Malaysian Investment Development Authority estimates about 13 percent of global back-end assembly, testing and packaging and about 7 percent of global semiconductor trade. The Authority’s own article of 2 October 2025 gives the same 13 percent back-end share.

Which Walsin resistor crosses a 0603, 10 kilohm, 0.1 percent, 25 ppm brief?

WF06J1002BTL, a high-precision thick film part, matches on size, value, tolerance, temperature coefficient and power, and it is not on our shelf as at 23 September 2026. Thin film neighbours are all at plus or minus 0.01 percent. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.

Is there a thin film Walsin resistor at plus or minus 0.1 percent in 0603 at 10 kilohm?

Not in the export. We counted 8 thin film part numbers at that size and value and all 8 are at plus or minus 0.01 percent. The 6 high-precision thick film parts at that size and value are at plus or minus 0.1 percent.

Do you hold a datasheet for these precision resistors?

No. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets of 451 pages, and the only two resistor sheets are the WR general purpose and MR automotive ones. The precision families are on our request list, so their tolerance, TCR and power are export values to confirm with Walsin.

Do you claim these parts suit semiconductor equipment?

No. None of the 28 datasheets we hold mentions semiconductors, test equipment or handlers. We make no claim of suitability for any machine. Qualification stays with you.

Do you hold stock or an office in Malaysia?

No. We hold no office, entity or stock in Malaysia; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen. We give no customs or compliance advice. Confirm with your compliance team.
