Nigerian solar and battery assemblers who want a C0G capacitor in place of a 100 V X7R one will find a twin for about half the catalogue. Of 854 Walsin 100 V X7R part numbers, 439 have a C0G twin on size and value. None of the 201 above 100 nF does.
On 4 August 2026 Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency announced a joint development agreement for local solar panel and battery assembly. Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) multilayer ceramic capacitor export: 24,026 rows, 23,601 distinct part numbers. This post is for a purchasing or design engineer at a Nigerian charge-controller, inverter or battery-pack assembly site who wants to know which 100 V X7R parts can be swapped for a stable C0G part, and which cannot. Every part number below is real, every count is ours, and every news statement names its source, its date and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026. The export writes the dielectric as NPO; C0G is the same class.
What did Nigeria announce about solar and battery assembly?
Local assembly, with an offtake target. Nairametrics reported on 4 August 2026 that the Rural Electrification Agency signed a joint development agreement for a solar panel and battery assembly and manufacturing facility, with annual offtake of up to 200 MW of modules and up to 200 MWh of battery storage, and that more than eighty-five million Nigerians lack reliable grid electricity. The agreement is non-exclusive.
The article quotes the agency’s head arguing that importing equipment costs Nigeria jobs and technical capacity. It names no capacitor, no shortage and no component supplier, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any Nigerian company buys. We have no relationship with the agency or the firm it names.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agreement | Joint development agreement for panel and battery assembly | Nairametrics, 4 August 2026 | Mismatch with any component claim: no part named |
| Offtake | Up to 200 MW of modules and 200 MWh of storage a year | Nairametrics, 4 August 2026 | Mismatch: a target, not a bill of materials |
| Access gap | More than eighty-five million Nigerians lack reliable grid power | Nairametrics, 4 August 2026 | Match for context only |
| Terms | Non-exclusive; does not override public procurement rules | Nairametrics, 4 August 2026 | Mismatch: nothing about electronics sourcing |
How many 100 V X7R capacitors have a C0G twin?
439 of 854. We parsed all 23,601 distinct export part numbers and took the 854 rated 100 V in X7R. Matching a C0G part on case size and capacitance at 100 V, 439 have a twin; 282 also share the tolerance code. Of the 246 rows at 100 nF or more, 5 have a twin, all at exactly 100 nF in 1812; of the 201 above 100 nF with a readable cell, 0 do. C0G has no capacitance loss under DC bias, which is why an assembler asks. Four of the 854 rows have an unreadable capacitance cell: three hold a datasheet address and one reads 820OpF. Their part codes give 470 nF for three and 8,200 pF for one. As exported, none matches a C0G part. Read as 8,200 pF, the fourth would match four C0G parts at 1206 and the total would be 440. That row also carries 100 Vdc in its voltage cell against 631 in its part code. We use every cell as exported.
Our 23 September 2026 shelf holds 36 of the 854 as stocked lines. Sixteen have a C0G twin, and only one of those twins is itself stocked: 0805B471K101 and 0805N471J101. C0G caps out at 100 nF in 1812 and 1825, 47 nF in 1206 and 1210, and 22 nF in 0805. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
| Case size | X7R 100 V rows | With a C0G twin | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0402 | 32 | 9 | Match on size and value; mismatch on tolerance for many |
| 0603 | 180 | 107 | Match up to 10 nF; mismatch above |
| 0805 | 212 | 135 | Match up to 22 nF; mismatch above |
| 1206 | 200 | 114 | Match up to 47 nF; mismatch above |
| 1210 | 103 | 32 | Mismatch above 47 nF |
| 1812 | 86 | 42 | Match to 100 nF; thickness differs at 100 nF |
| 1825, 2220, 2225 | 41 | 0 | Mismatch: no C0G twin at these sizes |
Which worked part numbers show the twins, and what differs?
Take the stocked 0805 line 0805B102K101: 1,000 pF, plus or minus 10 percent, 100 V, X7R. 0805N102K101 shares its size, value, tolerance, voltage and thickness of 0.80 plus or minus 0.10 mm; only the dielectric differs. The 1812 case at 100 nF is different: 1812N104K101 is 2.50 mm thick against 1.25 mm for the X7R. The last column is for your incumbent part.

What do Walsin’s documents say about solar and batteries?
Nothing. We converted all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text: solar and photovoltaic appear in 0 of 28 files, and inverter appears in 4, where the context is display back-lighting. The datasheets describe parts, not solar or storage applications.
A sheet that does not name an application is not evidence against it, and it is not evidence for it. Venatech makes no application or qualification claim.
What will we not tell you about Nigeria?
Anything about Nigerian import duty, local-content, customs or solar policy. We hold no office, entity or stock in Nigeria; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty rate, transit time, carrier or lead time, we give no legal or customs advice, and you should confirm with your compliance team. We do not say who is short of any part.
How Venatech helps
Start with the cross-reference. Paste your incumbent 100 V capacitor into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a bill of materials to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, and is not live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. We offer lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment on request. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949. The tables above came from our own export; the MLCC range lists the families. Qualification stays with you.
The short version
For a Nigerian solar or battery assembler, a 100 V X7R capacitor has a C0G twin about half the time: 439 of 854 on size and value, 282 with the tolerance code too, and none of the 201 above 100 nF. Of 36 stocked X7R lines, 16 have a twin and 1 twin is stocked. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
Send us one 100 V capacitor from your bill of materials and we will return the Walsin candidates with every difference stated. Is your value under 47 nF, where a C0G swap is open?

How many Walsin 100 V X7R capacitors have a C0G twin?
439 of 854 match a C0G part on case size and capacitance at 100 V, and 282 also share the tolerance code. The export writes the dielectric as NPO. A twin is a catalogue match, not a qualification or a stock claim.
Does a C0G twin exist above 100 nF?
No. Of 201 X7R rows above 100 nF at 100 V, 0 have a C0G twin at the same size and value. Exactly 100 nF has one, in 1812 only, and that part is 2.50 mm thick against 1.25 mm for the X7R.
How many stocked 100 V X7R lines have a C0G twin?
As at 23 September 2026 we hold 36 stocked 100 V X7R lines. Sixteen have a C0G twin on size and value, and one twin is itself stocked: 0805B471K101 with 0805N471J101. Stock is a dated snapshot and never live-synced.
Do Walsin datasheets mention solar or batteries?
No. We converted all 28 datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text. Solar and photovoltaic appear in 0 of 28 files. Inverter appears in 4, where it means display back-lighting. A sheet without an application is not evidence either way.
