Sourcing Passive Components for Egypt Appliance Makers from Hong Kong: Beko’s Egyptian Plant Hit a Record 32,655 Units in April 2026, and Our Shelf Holds 3 of 911 Walsin Safety Capacitors and Varistors

Passive components for Egypt appliance makers hit a narrow shelf at the mains input: of 911 Walsin safety capacitors and varistors, we hold 3, all chip safety capacitors, and none of the 367 disc safety capacitors or 379 varistors. An appliance buyer should send the line-side parts first.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) exports for chip safety capacitors, disc safety capacitors and varistors, and a dated stock list. This post is for a purchasing or design engineer at an Egyptian appliance maker, or a supplier to one, who has a safety or surge part to second-source. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. The statement about Egypt names its source and the day we read it, 23 October 2026.

What did Beko report from its Egyptian plant?

A record month and a large capacity. Arab Finance, syndicated by Zawya on 30 July 2026 from a company release, said Beko’s industrial park in 10th of Ramadan City made a record 32,655 units in April 2026, has capacity above 1 million appliances a year, and builds Beko, Whirlpool, Ariston, Indesit and Hitachi products. We read the page in full.

The release says the plant supplies Beko’s MENA, European and African markets and gives no export volume or value. It gives no bill of materials, no supplier and no component.

Our view, labelled as ours: appliances take mains power, so the capacitors and varistors at the input are among the parts a maker has to qualify against safety rules. We know no appliance maker’s design and name none. Nothing in the source says any Egyptian plant or supplier is short of a part.

How many Walsin line-side parts are there, and how many are on the shelf?

There are 911, and the shelf holds 3. We parsed the Walsin MLCC export, the disc capacitor export and the varistor export, counted every chip safety capacitor, disc safety capacitor and varistor, and matched them to our stock list as at 23 September 2026: 3 of 911 are held, or 0.3%.

Part family Walsin part numbers listed Held, 23 September 2026
Chip safety capacitors, X1/Y2 (S2 series) 165 3
Disc safety capacitors, X1/Y1 and X1/Y2 (AH, AC, AS series) 367 0
Varistors (D, E, V and Industrial series) 379 0
Total 911 3

The three held parts are S242B102K502, S252B222K502 and S252B471K502ZT. The S2 export has 173 rows but 165 distinct part numbers. We have not seen this counted anywhere. Our post on X1/Y1 versus X1/Y2 safety capacitors explains the classes.

The stock list is a dated snapshot and moves. The ready-stock page shows the Hong Kong list as it stands, and the MLCC range lists the families.

Why does a stock code not always find its export row?

Because one of the three safety lines carries a suffix the export does not. We matched all 1,125 stock codes to the exports: S242B102K502 and S252B222K502 match exactly, but the third stocked code, S252B471K502ZT, finds nothing, because the S2 export lists the same part as S252B471K502. A script that joins on exact text would report two held lines, not three.

The order codes behave the same way. The first two lines are ordered with a CT suffix, which the catalogue code drops, while the third keeps its ZT. We read this as a packaging-type suffix, and we have not seen a Walsin document that says so, so treat the reading as ours. Our post on why Walsin part numbers do not paste into your bill of materials covers the wider problem.

One more trap sits in the same family. The export prints 5,000 Vdc for the S2 series, and that figure is an impulse voltage, not a working voltage. Read the Walsin S2 safety datasheet for the rating that matters. We hold it and send it on request.

Which safety and surge parts cross, and where do they differ?

The three held parts differ in size, value and suffix. We hold S242B102K502, a 1808 X7R 1 nF part, and S252B222K502, a 2211 X7R 2.2 nF part; the third held line, S252B471K502ZT, is the 470 pF variant in the same 2211 body. Fill the incumbent column from your own part.

Walsin part Fields On shelf, 23 Sept 2026 Your incumbent part Match / mismatch
S242B102K502 Chip safety, 1808, X7R, 1 nF, plus or minus 10%, 5,000 Vdc impulse Yes ___ Match on size, value, tolerance; check working voltage on the datasheet
S252B222K502 Chip safety, 2211, X7R, 2.2 nF, plus or minus 10%, 5,000 Vdc impulse Yes ___ Mismatch against the 1808 line: body and value differ
S252B471K502ZT Chip safety, 2211, X7R, 470 pF, plus or minus 10%, 5,000 Vdc impulse Yes ___ Mismatch on code: the export lists it without the ZT
S252B471K502 Chip safety, 2211, X7R, 470 pF, plus or minus 10%, 5,000 Vdc impulse Export row only ___ Match on all fields with the line above; the suffix is the difference
YP0AC102K080 Disc safety, Y5P, 1 nF, plus or minus 10%, X1 440 Vac and Y2 250 Vac No ___ Mismatch on construction: leaded disc, not a chip
SR431K10D Varistor, 10 mm, 275 Vac working, 430 Vdc varistor voltage, plus or minus 10%, 2,500 A peak No ___ Mismatch with any capacitor: a different function

A Match is a statement about the fields shown and nothing more. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit. We hold no datasheet for the disc safety or varistor lines, so every figure for them comes from the export and should be confirmed with Walsin. Our post on how to cross-reference an MLCC shows the method.

What will we not tell you about Egypt import?

Anything operational. We state no duty rate, tariff code, customs procedure, conformity-mark requirement, local-content rule, transit time, freight cost or carrier for Egypt, and we hold no office, entity or stock there. Our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. Your forwarder, customs broker and compliance team own that side, and we give no legal advice. We hold no ISO 9001 certificate and make no qualification claim for any part.

How Venatech helps

Paste your incumbent into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Load a whole BOM to run every line, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026 and is never live-synced.

Worked example from our own export: the 911 is three files counted and joined to the stock list, and the suffix problem is one join that fails. If your appliance board uses a 1 nF chip safety capacitor in 1808, S242B102K502 is the line to test first. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We serve from Hong Kong in small lots, we help with cross-referencing, and quotes are requested through the site. The 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, we hold are sent on request.

The short version

Beko reported a record month at its Egyptian plant and no source names a component. The number an appliance buyer can use is ours: 3 of 911 Walsin safety capacitors and varistors are on the shelf, none of the 367 disc capacitors and none of the 379 varistors. Join on the base part number, not the stock code.

Send us the mains-input lines on your appliance bill of materials, or paste them into the tool, and we will return the Walsin parts with the differences stated. How many of your safety lines would survive an exact-text join?

Frequently asked questions

What did Beko report from its Egyptian plant?

Arab Finance, syndicated by Zawya on 30 July 2026, said the plant in 10th of Ramadan City made a record 32,655 units in April 2026 and has capacity above 1 million appliances a year. The figures are company statements and no component is named.

How many Walsin safety capacitors and varistors does Venatech hold?

As at 23 September 2026, 3 of 911 part numbers: S242B102K502, S252B222K502 and S252B471K502ZT, all chip safety capacitors. We hold none of the 367 disc safety capacitors or the 379 varistors. Stock is a dated snapshot, so ask for the current position.

Why does S252B471K502ZT not appear in the export?

The stock code carries a ZT suffix, while the S2 export lists the same part as S252B471K502. An exact-text join reports two held lines instead of three. Join on the base part number and check the suffix with us.

Is S242B102K502 a match for S252B222K502?

Not on every field. Both are chip safety X7R parts at plus or minus 10%, but the first is a 1808 body at 1 nF and the second a 2211 body at 2.2 nF. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.

Do you state Egypt duties, conformity rules or transit times?

No. We hold no Egyptian customs or conformity content, no office or stock in Egypt, and no freight or transit data. Your forwarder, customs broker and compliance team own that side. We supply parts and, on request, a certificate of conformity per shipment.

Can I check a whole bill of materials at once?

Yes. The free cross-reference tool takes up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file and decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers. Candidates appear with each field marked match or mismatch. Qualification stays with you.
