UAE data centre and solar passive components start with board area. Matching our 23 September 2026 stock list to Walsin’s export, 19 of 20 stocked class II MLCC lines at 1 uF or more in 1206 and 1210 have a smaller-case twin on dielectric, capacitance, tolerance and voltage. For only 5 of the 19 is that smaller twin on our shelf.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC parametric export: 24,026 rows, 23,601 distinct part numbers. This is for a procurement engineer at a UAE data-centre, power-conversion or solar-equipment programme who has a large-case bulk capacitor on a dense board and wants to know whether a smaller case exists at the same value and rating. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. Where we state a development we name the source, its date and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.
What are the UAE’s data centre and solar builds?
Very large ones, both reported as under way. The National reported on 13 July 2026 that Masdar secured funding for a 5.2 GW solar plant with 19 GWh of battery storage in Abu Dhabi, expected to operate in 2027; Gulf News, updated 16 October 2025, reported that the first 200 MW phase of the 1 GW Stargate UAE cluster is expected to be completed by 2026.
The National mentions data centres only as a general driver of rising electricity demand and links neither project to the other, and Gulf News says the rest of the cluster has no confirmed completion timeline. Neither page names a capacitor or any component supplier, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any company buys. We have no relationship with any company named.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Masdar solar and storage | 5.2 GW solar, 19 GWh battery, expected to operate in 2027 | The National, 13 July 2026 | Match for context only; no component named |
| Data centres in that article | A general driver of electricity demand, not a stated customer | The National, 13 July 2026 | Mismatch with any link between the two |
| Stargate UAE | 1 GW cluster, first 200 MW expected by 2026 | Gulf News, updated 16 October 2025 | Match for context only |
| Rest of the cluster | No confirmed completion timeline | Gulf News, updated 16 October 2025 | Mismatch: no volume or part detail |
How many stocked 1 uF-and-up lines have a smaller-case twin?
19 of 20. We joined the 1,125 lines in our stock list, as at 23 September 2026, to the MLCC export: 764 lines match a distinct export part number, and 20 of those are X7R or X5R at 1 uF or more in case size 1206 or 1210 (11 are 1206 and 9 are 1210; 15 are X7R and 5 are X5R; voltages run from 6.3 V to 100 V). For each we searched the general purpose series for a smaller case with the same dielectric, capacitance, tolerance and rated voltage.
19 have one. The 20th, SH31B475K500, is a soft-termination part with no general purpose twin. For only 5 of the 19 is a smaller-case twin itself on the shelf: 1210X106K100, 1206X476M6R3, 1206X106K500, 1210B105K500 and 1206B105K250 each have one. We counted this from our own list; we have not seen it counted anywhere. A smaller case is a layout decision, not a swap: pad size, height, capacitance at bias and ripple capability all change.
| Stocked 1 uF-and-up class II lines, 1206 and 1210 | Count | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|
| All such lines | 20 | Reference group |
| With a smaller-case general purpose twin | 19 | Match on dielectric, capacitance, tolerance, voltage; mismatch on case size |
| Where a smaller-case twin is on the shelf | 5 | Match on the same four; mismatch on case size and part number |
| With no smaller-case twin | 1 | Mismatch: SH31B475K500 has no general purpose twin |
Which worked part numbers show the twins, and what differs?
Take the stocked 1206 line 1206X476M6R3: 47 uF, X5R, plus or minus 20 percent, 6.3 Vdc, thickness 1.60 mm with a +0.30/-0.10 tolerance as exported. 0805X476M6R3 shares its dielectric, capacitance, tolerance and voltage in a smaller 0805 case at 1.25 mm plus or minus 0.20 and is stocked; 0603X476M6R3 does the same in 0603 and is not. The last column is for your incumbent part.

0805B105K250 |
0805, 1.25 ±0.20 mm | Same four fields | Match on four fields; mismatch on case; thickness is higher in the export; twin is stocked | |
SH31B475K500 |
1206, 1.60 ±0.50 mm | X7R, 4.7 uF, 10%, 50 Vdc, soft termination | Reference line, stocked; no smaller-case twin |
The thickness column is the point: the smaller case is not always the thinner part, as 0805B105K250 shows. Our post on passives for AI server power stages covers the circuit side, and passives for a solar string inverter covers the inverter. Class II capacitance falls under DC bias and a smaller case usually loses more of it: confirm against both datasheets and your own bias and ripple conditions.
What do Walsin’s documents say about data centres and solar?
Nothing. We converted all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text and searched them: data centre, server and solar each appear in 0 of 28 files, while power supply appears in 8 and DC-DC converters in 2. The General Purpose sheet lists power supply bypass among its uses.
DC bias appears in 1 of 28 files, the full catalogue, as a chart of typical characteristics by dielectric that we read as general rather than per part, and ripple appears in 0 of 28. We do not claim that any Walsin series suits a server board or a solar inverter.
What will we not tell you about the UAE?
Anything about UAE import, free-zone, tariff or standards rules. We hold no office, entity or stock in the UAE; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty rate, customs procedure, transit time or carrier, and we give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We make no claim that any Walsin part is approved for a data centre or a solar plant.
How Venatech helps
We start with the cross-reference. Paste your incumbent bulk capacitor into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a list to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. We offer lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment on request. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949. The tables above came from our own export; the MLCC range lists the series. Qualification stays with you.
The short version
For a 1 uF-and-up class II capacitor in 1206 or 1210 on a UAE power board, a smaller case exists in the export for 19 of our 20 stocked lines and is on the shelf for 5. The smaller case changes pad, height and bias behaviour, so the cross is yours to prove.
Send us one large-case capacitor from your bill of materials and we will return the Walsin parts, with the smaller-case rungs and every difference stated. Is board area, or capacitance at bias, the limit on your design?
