A Kyocera KGM cross reference for Taiwan can be answered with a short list. KGM03CR50J225MH decodes to a 0201 X5R capacitor at 2.2 microfarad and 6.3 V, and we counted 2 Walsin part numbers that answer it. One is on our Hong Kong shelf, and both list a thickness of 0.30 plus or minus 0.09 mm.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC export of 24,026 rows, 23,601 of them distinct part numbers. This post is for a procurement or design engineer in Taiwan, in a server board or power-conversion supply chain, who has a Kyocera KGM line in 0201 and wants a Hong Kong second source in small lots. We decode one Kyocera string from Kyocera’s own catalogue and test it against Walsin’s export. The market figure is sourced and dated, and every Walsin part number is real.
Why does Taiwan’s server forecast matter to a capacitor buyer?
Because the volume is large and the boards are dense. The Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute forecast, reported by the Taipei Times on 9 September 2026, has global server shipments rising 15.1% to 16.6 million units in 2026, and AI server shipments rising 20.7% to 4.6 million units. We read the report on 23 October 2026.
For 2027 the same report gives an estimate of 18.6 million servers, up 12.4%, and about 5.4 million AI servers, up about 18%. It says Taiwan’s server makers, including Hon Hai, Quanta, Inventec, Wistron, Wiwynn, Pegatron and Giga Computing, are spreading production across Taiwan, China, the United States, Southeast Asia and Mexico, while Taiwan stays the main base for AI servers. It lists “power and cooling systems” among the areas where buyers are spending more, and says nothing about capacitors or any shortage. Our view, labelled as ours: a board that moves between plants needs a bill of materials line that more than one source can fill, and the smallest, highest-capacitance parts are where a second source is hardest to find. The example below tests exactly that.
What does a Kyocera KGM part number say, field by field?
Eight fields, and every one has a Walsin counterpart or an honest gap. Kyocera’s catalogue, marked as of October 2026, decodes the example KGM 03 C R5 0J 225 M H as: KGM general series, size 03 (0201), thickness code C (0.39 mm maximum for 0201), R5 (X5R), 0J (6.3 Vdc), 225 (2.2 microfarad), M (plus or minus 20%) and H (paper tape, 8 mm, 2 mm pitch). We joined the boxes into KGM03CR50J225MH ourselves and have not checked the string on Kyocera’s lookup.
| Kyocera field | Code | Meaning (Kyocera’s catalogue) | Walsin side | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series | KGM | General series | Walsin general purpose | Match |
| Size | 03 | 0201 | 0201 at the start of the part number |
Match |
| Thickness | C | 0.39 mm maximum at this size | Export column T: 0.30 plus or minus 0.09 | Match on the maximum, see below |
| Dielectric | R5 | X5R | Letter X, shown as X5R |
Match |
| Voltage | 0J | 6.3 Vdc (the first character is the digit zero) | 6R3 |
Match, different code |
| Capacitance | 225 | 22 x 10^5 pF, 2.2 microfarad | 225 |
Match |
| Tolerance | M | plus or minus 20% | M |
Match |
| Packaging | H | Paper tape, 8 mm, 2 mm pitch, 180 mm reel | Order code adds CT to the export number |
Not comparable: confirm the tape |
Kyocera’s catalogue omits the capital letters I and O from part numbers, which is why the voltage code starts with a digit zero. The part number is not in the Walsin export and is not a Walsin number. Our post on crossing TDK and Taiyo Yuden MLCC to Walsin covers the family-level method for other Japanese makers.
How many Walsin parts answer a 0201, X5R, 2.2 microfarad, 6.3 V line?
Two parts exist at 2.2 microfarad in 0201 X5R, and one fits the voltage. We parsed the 178 Walsin 0201 X5R rows in the MLCC export and found 2 at 2.2 microfarad: 0201X225M6R3 at 6.3 V and 0201X225M100 at 10 V, both plus or minus 20%, both general purpose. There is no 0201 X5R row above 2.2 microfarad at any voltage.
| Walsin part | Dielectric | Capacitance | Voltage | Height (export) | Hong Kong shelf, 23 September 2026 | Match / mismatch against Kyocera |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
0201X225M6R3 |
X5R | 2.2 microfarad | 6.3 V | 0.30 plus or minus 0.09 mm | Yes | Match on case, dielectric, capacitance, tolerance, voltage and height ceiling |
0201X225M100 |
X5R | 2.2 microfarad | 10 V | 0.30 plus or minus 0.09 mm | No | Match on all but voltage; mismatch: 10 V, a higher rating and a different part |
The 10 V part is not a replacement at the same voltage, and whether a higher rating helps your design is for your engineer. We give no derating advice. Confirm capacitance change over voltage and temperature against the Walsin datasheet and the Kyocera catalogue, and qualify in your own circuit. We could not find an X6S or X7R part at this value in 0201 in our index, which is a statement about our index and not about what Walsin can make.
Why does the height ceiling agree at 0.39 mm?
Because the highest-capacitance 0201 parts sit at the thick end of a very thin case. Of 2,544 Walsin 0201 rows, 2,477 list a thickness of 0.30 plus or minus 0.03 mm, and only 12 list 0.30 plus or minus 0.09, a ceiling of 0.39 mm; all 12 are among the 25 rows at 330 nanofarad or more, and both 2.2 microfarad parts are among them. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
| Walsin 0201 part | Dielectric | Capacitance | Voltage |
|---|---|---|---|
0201X225M6R3 |
X5R | 2.2 microfarad | 6.3 V |
0201X225M100 |
X5R | 2.2 microfarad | 10 V |
0201X105M4R0 |
X5R | 1 microfarad | 4 V |
0201X105M100 |
X5R | 1 microfarad | 10 V |
0201X105K100 |
X5R | 1 microfarad | 10 V, plus or minus 10% |
0201X105M160 |
X5R | 1 microfarad | 16 V |
0201S105M4R0 |
X6S | 1 microfarad | 4 V |
0201S105M6R3 |
X6S | 1 microfarad | 6.3 V |
0201X334M160, 0201X334K160 |
X5R | 330 nanofarad | 16 V |
0201X334M250, 0201X334K250 |
X5R | 330 nanofarad | 25 V |
For a Kyocera line coded C, the 0.39 mm maximum and Walsin’s 0.30 plus 0.09 agree at the ceiling. They are two different statements: Kyocera gives a maximum, Walsin gives a nominal and a tolerance, and the export does not say how the actual lot is distributed. If your board has a height limit below 0.39 mm, none of these 12 is a safe assumption.
What do we hold in stock in 0201?
One part at 2.2 microfarad, out of 70 lines. As at 23 September 2026 our list holds 1,125 part numbers, 70 of them 0201 MLCC lines, and 0201X225M6R3 is the only one at 2.2 microfarad. Its order code on our list carries the packaging suffix CT.
The stock list is a dated snapshot, and we quote part-number counts, never piece counts. The ready stock page shows what we hold. The 0201 lines we hold run from picofarads upward, and the 0201 export has no part above 2.2 microfarad in X5R. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 26 of them for MLCC series, 451 pages in all, and none names a production site. The 10 V twin 0201X225M100 is a factory order.
How can Venatech help a Taiwanese buyer cross a Kyocera capacitor?
By answering the tiny-case question quickly, in small lots. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Walsin is our only authorised line, and the other lines we supply are Stackpole and Viking.
- Cross-reference. Paste your Kyocera number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read each Walsin candidate with match and mismatch stated field by field.
- BOM check. Upload a server or power-board bill of materials to /bom/ and have each line checked against the same engine.
- Ready stock. The ready stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026, never live-synced.
- Service. Hong Kong-based, small lots, cross-referencing help, and a quote requested through the site. Our address is Unit 207, 2/F, Sun Ling Plaza, 30 On Kui Street, Fanling, N.T., Hong Kong, telephone (852) 2628 4777.
A worked example from our own export: a KGM line that reads 0201, X5R, 2.2 microfarad, 6.3 V maps to 0201X225M6R3, the part we hold, and the same value at 10 V maps to 0201X225M100 as a different-voltage candidate. Our MLCC range lists the families, and how to cross-reference an MLCC sets out the order of the checks. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit. Ask your compliance team about any import or product rule; we give no legal advice.
The short version
The Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute expects 16.6 million servers in 2026, per the Taipei Times on 9 September 2026. For a Kyocera KGM03CR50J225MH line the useful number is 2: the Walsin parts at 0201, X5R, 2.2 microfarad, with 1 on the shelf, and a 0.39 mm height ceiling that only 12 of 2,544 Walsin 0201 rows share.
Send us the 0201 lines from one server board and we will return the Walsin candidates with every difference stated. When your highest-capacitance 0201 part is the one line with one source, which board are you willing to hold for it?
