A TDK C-series number states thickness as three digits, and for a Canadian telecom buyer crossing it to Walsin, only 12 of the 23 thickness codes on TDK’s numbering page appear as a Walsin nominal thickness. The other 11, from 0.45 to 5.00 mm, appear nowhere in 24,026 Walsin rows, so a thickness match needs a band, not a number.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC parametric export: 24,026 rows, 23,601 distinct part numbers, in 16 series. This post is for a procurement or design engineer at a Canadian telecom equipment maker who has a TDK C-series line on a bill of materials and needs a second source. Every Walsin part number below is real and every count is ours. Where it states a development, it names the source, the document date and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.
What did Canada’s spectrum regulator and one carrier publish?
Spectrum for 5G was still being allocated in 2026. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada announced in notice SPB-005-25, dated August 2025, an auction of 207 unallocated licences: 3 at 2 GHz, 38 at 2300 MHz, 7 at 3500 MHz and 159 at 3800 MHz. On 9 February 2026, TELUS said it had bought 3800 MHz licences in that residual auction, mostly in British Columbia and Alberta.
For a buyer, that is context and nothing more. A spectrum licence is not a component order, neither page mentions capacitors or any supplier, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any Canadian company buys. We have no relationship with ISED or TELUS.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auction | 207 unallocated licences, including 159 at 3800 MHz, sealed-bid | ISED notice SPB-005-25, August 2025 | Match for context only |
| Winner statement | TELUS bought 3800 MHz licences in the residual auction | TELUS, 9 February 2026 | Mismatch with any component claim: no part or volume is named |
| Equipment | Neither page names radio or network equipment suppliers | both | Mismatch: nothing on passives |
How does a TDK C-series number carry thickness?
In the seventh of nine fields, as three digits. TDK’s MLCC part numbering page, dated 2025, builds a C-series number as series, case size, temperature characteristic, rated voltage, capacitance, tolerance, thickness, a special code and packaging; its printed example is C3225X7T1A107M250AC, where 250 is 2.50 mm. The page, a .pdf of TDK’s catalog number description, lists 23 thickness codes, from 020 for 0.20 mm to 500 for 5.00 mm.
Two cautions from TDK’s own page. The thickness table sits under a heading that lists the C, CA and CKG series together, so some codes may belong to the larger series. And the page leaves the order of the last two fields unclear: confirm the special code and packaging letters against TDK before relying on them. Our post on crossing TDK and Taiyo Yuden MLCC to Walsin covers the family-level method.
How many of TDK’s 23 thickness codes appear in the Walsin export?
Twelve. We parsed the thickness column of Walsin’s own export file 00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx, all 24,026 rows, into a nominal value: 23,552 rows give one, and 12 of TDK’s 23 codes match a Walsin nominal exactly, while 11 match none. Walsin has four nominal values that TDK’s list does not: 0.40 mm on 1 row, 0.95 mm on 704, 1.40 mm on 12 and 3.10 mm on 6.
| TDK code | mm | Walsin rows at that nominal | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| 020 | 0.20 | 604 | Match on nominal |
| 030 | 0.30 | 2,515 | Match on nominal |
| 045 | 0.45 | 0 | Mismatch: no Walsin nominal |
| 050 | 0.50 | 3,966 | Match on nominal |
| 055 | 0.55 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 060 | 0.60 | 1,353 | Match on nominal |
| 070 | 0.70 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 080 | 0.80 | 7,883 | Match on nominal; six Walsin thickness spellings |
| 085 | 0.85 | 646 | Match on nominal |
| 100 | 1.00 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 110 | 1.10 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 115 | 1.15 | 172 | Match on nominal |
| 125 | 1.25 | 3,169 | Match on nominal |
| 130 | 1.30 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 160 | 1.60 | 949 | Match on nominal |
| 200 | 2.00 | 872 | Match on nominal |
| 230 | 2.30 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 250 | 2.50 | 637 | Match on nominal |
| 280 | 2.80 | 63 | Match on nominal |
| 290 | 2.90 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 320 | 3.20 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 335 | 3.35 | 0 | Mismatch |
| 500 | 5.00 | 0 | Mismatch |
A match on nominal is not a match on band. We have not seen TDK’s thickness codes counted against Walsin’s anywhere. The 12 matched nominals hold 22,829 rows, 95 percent of the 24,026.
What does the Walsin thickness field actually hold?
A text string, not a number, in 44 spellings. Of the 24,026 rows, 22,665 write thickness as a nominal and a plus-or-minus band, 887 as an asymmetric band such as 0.80+0.15/-0.10, 127 as the text ≤ 1.78 on one microwave case size, and 347 leave it blank. At TDK’s 080 alone, Walsin prints six bands: 0.80 plus or minus 0.07 on 3,910 rows, 0.10 on 3,230, +0.15/-0.10 on 612, plus or minus 0.30 on 89, 0.20 on 40, and a variant of the asymmetric band on 2.
So a TDK 080 can meet a Walsin part whose upper limit is 0.87 mm or one whose upper limit is 1.10 mm, and the nominal is the same. The band decides whether the part clears a height limit, which is why we show the printed band in every candidate. Our post on the Walsin thickness symbol explains the letter that stands for it in the Walsin number.
Which worked part number shows the match and the gaps?
Take the number TDK prints on its own page, C3225X7T1A107M250AC: 3225 (1210), X7T, 1A for 10 V, 107 for 100 microfarad, M for plus or minus 20 percent, thickness 2.50 mm. TDK’s page lists X7T at minus 55 to plus 125 degrees Celsius with a change of plus 22 and minus 33 percent. Walsin has no X7T at 1210 and no X7R at 100 microfarad. The last column is for your incumbent part.
| Walsin part | Size, dielectric, value, tolerance, voltage, thickness | Match / mismatch | Your incumbent |
|---|---|---|---|
1210X107M100 |
1210, X5R, 100 uF, 20%, 10 V, 2.50 plus or minus 0.30 mm | Match on size, value, tolerance, voltage, nominal thickness; mismatch on dielectric: TDK’s page gives X5R as minus 55 to plus 85 degrees, not plus 125; not stocked | |
1210S107M100 |
1210, X6S, 100 uF, 20%, 10 V, 2.50 plus or minus 0.30 mm | Match on size, value, tolerance, voltage, nominal thickness; mismatch on dielectric: X6S is minus 55 to plus 105 degrees on TDK’s page; not stocked | |
1210A107M6R3 |
1210, X7S, 100 uF, 20%, 6.3 V, 2.50 plus or minus 0.30 mm | Match on size, value, tolerance, nominal thickness; mismatch on voltage: 6.3 V is below 10 V; X7S is the closest temperature class; not stocked | |
1210B476K100 |
1210, X7R, 47 uF, 10%, 10 V, 2.50 plus or minus 0.30 mm | Mismatch on value: 47 uF, half the capacitance; shown because no Walsin X7R reaches 100 uF at 1210; not stocked |
TDK’s page does not print the thickness tolerance of its 250 code, so the band comparison needs TDK’s delivery specification and the Walsin datasheet for the series; we hold a Walsin General Purpose datasheet and no TDK document beyond the numbering page. Neither Walsin row at 10 V is on our list as at 23 September 2026, so a 100 microfarad line at 1210 is a factory order from Walsin, and the candidates differ from the incumbent in temperature class.
What will we not tell you about Canada?
Anything about Canadian regulation, customs or product conformity. We hold no office, entity or stock in Canada; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty, border procedure, transit time or carrier, and we give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We make no claim about any TDK part or its supply.
How can Venatech help a Canadian telecom equipment maker?
We start with the cross-reference. Paste your TDK number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a list to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site.
A worked example from our own export: a 100 uF, 20 percent, 10 V, 1210 line with a 2.50 mm thickness code maps to 1210X107M100 or 1210S107M100, neither on our list as at 23 September 2026, with the dielectric difference stated; a 0603 line at 0.80 mm has far more rows and several bands. Our MLCC range lists the families. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949. Qualification stays with you.
The short version
For a TDK C-series line, read the thickness code against the band, not the nominal. 12 of TDK’s 23 listed codes appear as a Walsin nominal, covering 22,829 of 24,026 rows; 11 appear nowhere, from 0.45 to 5.00 mm. Walsin prints 44 thickness spellings, six of them at TDK’s 080, and leaves 347 rows blank.
Send us one TDK C-series number from your bill of materials and we will return the Walsin parts with every difference stated. If your thickness limit is a ceiling, which upper limit can your board take?

What does the 250 in a TDK C-series number mean?
It is the thickness code, 2.50 mm. TDK’s part numbering page lists 23 thickness codes from 020 (0.20 mm) to 500 (5.00 mm) under a heading that covers the C, CA and CKG series. It does not print the tolerance of each code, so take it from the TDK specification.
Does Walsin list the same thicknesses as TDK?
In part. Of TDK’s 23 codes, 12 match a Walsin nominal thickness and 11 match none, including 0.45, 0.55, 0.70, 1.00, 1.10, 1.30, 2.30, 2.90, 3.20, 3.35 and 5.00 mm. Walsin has four nominals TDK does not list: 0.40, 0.95, 1.40 and 3.10 mm.
Why does a matching nominal thickness not settle the cross?
Walsin prints a band as well as a nominal. At 0.80 mm there are six bands, from plus or minus 0.07 to plus or minus 0.30, and one asymmetric. The upper limit of the band is what clears a height limit. We print the band in every candidate row.
Does Walsin make a 100 microfarad X7T capacitor at 1210?
No. The export has no X7T at 1210, and no X7R at 100 microfarad. It has 100 microfarad at 1210 in X5R, X6S and X7S, at 6.3 V, 10 V and 16 V. The dielectric class differs from X7T, so the temperature range is a design decision.
Did ISED or TELUS say anything about capacitors?
No. ISED notice SPB-005-25 of August 2025 describes 207 unallocated licences, and TELUS said on 9 February 2026 that it bought 3800 MHz licences. Neither names a component. We draw no conclusion about which parts any Canadian company buys.
Do you give Canadian customs or conformity advice?
No. We hold no Canadian entity or stock. We give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We supply parts, and qualification stays with you.
