Walsin Inductors for Spanish Solar Inverter Manufacturing: The Current Ladder and Where the Data Stops

A current filter on Walsin’s inductor data does not return what a Spanish string inverter programme needs. Asking Walsin Technology (Walsin)’s export for 5 A or more returns 162 of 5,366 part numbers, and only 111 of those are power inductors — we checked all 162. The other 51 are ferrite beads and rows whose rated current is not physically credible.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds Walsin’s inductor parametric export: 5,411 rows, of which one is a QA test artefact and 5,410 are real parts. We hold no Walsin inductor datasheet. The counts below are taken over 5,366 rows — the 5,410 real parts less the 44 WLFI Series rows whose rated current we have already published as physically implausible for their package. Every part number is real. Counts are of part numbers, never pieces.

Does Venatech have a Spanish entity or Spanish stock?

No. The group’s operating entities are Venatech Limited in Hong Kong, the Shenzhen trading company, VENATECH PTE LTD in Singapore and the Jiangmen factory in Guangdong, with Chengdu in preparation. There is no Spanish entity, no Spanish warehouse, no Spanish-held inventory, no local office and no local support hours. Everything ships from Hong Kong.

Spain builds inverters, trackers and balance-of-system electronics for solar and wind at volume, and those boards are current-led in a way a consumer board is not. An auxiliary rail inside a string inverter enclosure runs hot, runs continuously for a design life measured in years, and carries more current than the chip inductor catalogue was built for. So the first honest question is how much of Walsin’s inductor line reaches that current at all.

How many Walsin inductors are rated above 2, 3, 5 and 10 amps?

Fewer than the row count suggests, and the population changes character as the threshold rises. This is the measurement we established for this post, counted over 5,366 rows.

Rated current threshold Part numbers µH-class power inductors Ferrite bead rows nH-class chip inductors Match / mismatch for an inverter power stage
1 A or more 1,118 — — — Match — already published by us
2 A or more 488 298 150 40 Mismatch — 39% of the set is not a power inductor
3 A or more 337 222 89 26 Mismatch — 34% is not a power inductor
5 A or more 162 111 34 17 Mismatch — 31.5% is not a power inductor
10 A or more 49 32 0 17 Mismatch — 17 of 49 are not credible at their case size

The 1 A figure is ours and already published; the rest of the ladder and its composition is new. Read the bottom row carefully. Across the whole of Walsin’s inductor catalogue, 32 part numbers are µH-class power inductors rated 10 A or more. That is the real selection for a high-current rail, and it is 0.6% of the line.

Why does a 5 amp filter return parts a power stage cannot use?

Two reasons, and both are visible in the data once you know to look.

34 of the 162 are ferrite beads, not inductors. Walsin’s inductor export shares one fourteen-column schema with its bead parts. On a bead row the Inductance column reads a literal 0, the Unit column reads Ω instead of nH or µH, and the real figure sits in Impedance (100MHz). WLBD2012HCU300TH is one of them: inductance 0, unit Ω, impedance 30, rated 6 A. It is a perfectly good EMI part and it will not store energy in a buck stage. That the impedance column is bead data rather than inductor data is already established in our work; what is new here is how much of a high-current filter result it occupies.

17 of the 162 are nH-class chip inductors whose rated current does not look credible. All 17 are WQCW Series rows at 1005(0402) and 1608(0603), and they are the same 17 rows that make up a third of the 10 A set.

Which Walsin inductors actually carry a string inverter rail?

Two families, and one of them is undocumented. The AIP series reaches 30 A and the VEFL series reaches 19.2 A, both at µH values and single-digit milliohm DC resistance. Those are the parts an inverter auxiliary rail would shortlist.

VEFL is one of the five inductor series — with WIP, SCM, SCA and BIH — for which Walsin publishes no datasheet anywhere we have located. That is our established finding, and it lands awkwardly here: some of the highest-current parts in the catalogue sit in the series with the least documentation behind them. For an inverter running at elevated ambient for a decade, that is the gap to close before design-in, not after. See the 208 Walsin inductors with no datasheet.

Note also that both families use a hyphen before the value block. Hyphenated part numbers do not validate against a master part list and frequently will not paste into a BOM tool intact, so quote the series and the full code together when you enquire.

Where does Walsin’s published inductor data stop?

At temperature. The export has fourteen columns — Part Number, Series, Size, Size LW (mm), Thickness (mm), Inductance, Impedance (100MHz), Unit, Tolerance, Q Min, SRF(min), RDC, Rated Current and Saturation Current — and not one of them is a temperature.* There is no operating temperature range, no temperature rise, no derating curve and no ambient reference for the rated current.

For a string inverter that is the decisive omission. Rated current is a thermal limit, so a rated current with no stated ambient is a number without its conditions. The magnetic limit is missing too: only 146 of 5,410 part numbers publish a saturation current, and AIP and VEFL are not among them.

What does Venatech add for a Spanish inverter programme?

A filter result you can act on. Walsin’s own parametric search will return 162 rows for 5 A and tell you nothing about the 51 that are beads or implausible. We counted them, we mark the bead rows, and we mark the rows whose figure we do not believe rather than passing them through.

Our cross-reference tool returns the comparison field by field. We will not tell you a part is equivalent. We will show you where it differs — and on this line the difference is sometimes that one of the two rows is not an inductor. The catalogue sits on the Walsin inductor range page.

The short version

32 part numbers in Walsin’s inductor line are µH-class power inductors rated 10 A or more. A 5 A filter returns 162 rows of which 111 are power inductors, 34 are ferrite beads carrying a literal zero inductance, and 17 publish a rated current we do not believe. The highest credible currents sit in AIP and VEFL, and VEFL has no datasheet at all. The export has no temperature field of any kind, so every rated current is quoted without its ambient.

Send the inductor and filter lines from your inverter BOM and we will return the current-sorted shortlist with the bead rows separated out, the implausible rows marked, and the written document request we will put to Walsin for the rest. Qualification stays with you. Ready stock shows what is physically in Hong Kong as a dated snapshot, so you can see whether a line is a stock pull or a production slot.

Frequently asked questions

Does Venatech have an entity or warehouse in Spain?

No. The operating entities are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and the Jiangmen factory in Guangdong, with Chengdu in preparation. There is no Spanish entity, warehouse, local stock, sales office or local support line. A Spanish ship-to is served from Hong Kong, and delivery terms should be quoted and compared at enquiry.

How many Walsin inductors are rated 10 amps or more?

49 part numbers clear 10 A in the export, but only 32 are µH-class power inductors. The other 17 are nanohenry-class WQCW rows at 0402 and 0603 whose rated current Venatech does not believe and has asked Walsin to confirm. So the credible high-current selection is 32 part numbers, or 0.6 percent of the line.

Why does a 5 amp inductor filter return ferrite beads?

Because Walsin’s inductor export shares one fourteen-column schema with its bead parts. On a bead row the Inductance column reads a literal zero, the Unit column reads an ohm symbol, and the real figure sits in Impedance at 100 MHz. 34 of the 162 rows returned by a 5 A filter are bead rows of that kind.

Which Walsin inductor series reaches the highest rated current?

The AIP series, at 30 A for a 0.15 microhenry part in a 7066 package with 1.8 milliohm DC resistance. VEFL reaches 19.2 A at 0.33 microhenry. Both use a hyphen before the value block, so the full code often will not paste into a BOM tool intact. Confirm both against Walsin’s own document before design-in.

Does Walsin publish a datasheet for the VEFL inductor series?

No. VEFL is one of five inductor series — with WIP, SCM, SCA and BIH — for which Venatech has located no Walsin datasheet anywhere. That is an established finding of ours. It matters here because VEFL holds some of the highest-current parts in the catalogue, so the documentation gap sits exactly where an inverter design needs it least.

Does Walsin’s inductor export give an operating temperature range?

No. None of the fourteen columns is a temperature. There is no operating range, no temperature rise, no derating curve and no ambient for the rated current. Since rated current is a thermal limit, the figure arrives without its conditions and the ambient has to be requested from Walsin against the exact part number.

Three ways to get this answered today

1. Cross a part, free. Paste up to 500 part numbers, or drop an Excel or CSV file, into the free cross-reference tool. It is matched against Walsin’s published catalogue and returns candidates field by field, with every difference from your original stated rather than hidden. Filter by commercial or automotive grade, or for soft termination, high temperature, safety certified, high Q / low ESR or low profile. There is no login and no charge.

2. Send the whole BOM. Upload a BOM and request a quote and we will come back line by line — including the lines we cannot help with, which is usually the more useful half of the answer.

3. Check the shelf before you commit. Ready stock shows what was physically in Hong Kong as at 23 September 2026. It is a dated snapshot, never a live feed, and quantities are never permanent.

Why take our word for any of this? Don’t — check it.

Venatech Limited (威納電子有限公司) is an authorised Walsin Technology distributor in Hong Kong. Confirm that with Walsin rather than with us. On the safety capacitor series we hold UL file E182369, which is searchable in UL’s own public database, together with TUV certificates R50381780 and R50195920 and CQC CQC20001280137 and CQC20001280136, against EN 60384-14:2023, IEC 60384-14:2023 and UL 60384-14. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and we will send the one covering your part number. Shipments arrive in original sealed Walsin packaging with lot and date-code traceability, and a certificate of conformity is available per shipment on request.

We will also tell you what we do not hold, which no competitor publishes. REACH, SVHC, conflict minerals, PFAS, China RoHS, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PPAP, IMDS and a Declaration of Conformity appear nowhere in those 451 pages. You would rather hear that from us now than from your own supplier-approval team later. AEC-Q200 is compliant in Walsin’s own words and never certified, we hold no manufacturer’s end-of-life or allocation list for any brand, and qualification in your own circuit stays with you. We will not tell you a part is equivalent. We will show you where it differs.
