Sourcing Passive Components for Kazakhstan’s Solar and Industrial Builders from Hong Kong: 8 of 14 BOM Lines Have a Stocked Walsin Part, and All 3 Lines at 250 V and Above Do Not

Passive components for Kazakhstan’s solar and industrial builders, sourced from Hong Kong, come down to the BOM line. We ran a 14-line sample bill of materials through the Walsin Technology (Walsin) export and our 23 September 2026 stock list: all 14 lines have a Walsin candidate, 8 have a stocked one, and none of the three lines at 250 V or above does.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, wrote this for a procurement engineer in Kazakhstan who is choosing between “send the whole BOM” and “send nothing”. The 14 lines are our own illustrative composition for a monitoring or combiner-type board, not a customer’s design. Every part number below is real, every count is ours, and the one development we cite names its source, its date and the day we fetched it (23 October 2026).

What did Kazakhstan’s 2026 solar figures say, and why should a parts buyer care?

Solar is small but moving. pv magazine reported on 3 August 2026, citing Ministry of Energy data for the second quarter, about 1,375 MW of solar across 52 operating plants above 200 kW, inside 3,750 MW of renewables across 169 facilities. Renewables generated 8.6 billion kWh in 2025, 7 percent of national output.

The same article says 245 MW of renewables is planned for commissioning in 2026 across ten projects, five of them solar at 92.6 MW combined, with three solar plants already online: 20 MW in Mangystau, 20 MW in Zhetisu and 22.6 MW in Kostanay. It adds a pipeline of 97 projects, 3,013.921 MW in all, and that net-metered contracts for systems up to 200 kW rose from 103 to 172 during 2025. The article gives no component, shortage or supplier detail, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any Kazakh company buys. We have no relationship with the Ministry or with pv magazine.

Point What the source says Source date Match / mismatch
Solar installed About 1,375 MW, 52 plants above 200 kW pv magazine, 3 August 2026 Match for market size; mismatch with any parts claim, none is made
2025 generation Renewables 8.6 billion kWh, 7 percent of production pv magazine, 3 August 2026 Match for context only
2026 plan 245 MW across ten projects, five solar at 92.6 MW pv magazine, 3 August 2026 Mismatch: no bill of materials or volume is named
Small systems Net-metering contracts 103 to 172 in 2025 pv magazine, 3 August 2026 Match for the small-system trend

How did a 14-line sample BOM fare against Walsin’s export and our shelf?

All 14 lines have a candidate; 8 have a stocked one. We matched each line on every field the export carries: for the nine capacitors, case size, dielectric, capacitance, rated voltage and tolerance; for the five resistors, case size, resistance, tolerance and rated power. That returned 132 distinct Walsin part numbers across the 14 lines, 60 of them outside the automotive and soft-termination series, and 9 on the shelf.

We parsed all 24,026 MLCC export rows (23,601 distinct part numbers) and all 234,815 chip resistor rows, and joined the result to the 1,125 part numbers on the stock list as at 23 September 2026. The last column is for your incumbent part.

Eight of 14 lines hold a stocked part: lines 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 14. Six do not: the 10 µF line, the 330 kohm line, the 1206 resistor, and the three high-voltage lines. We have not seen a sample BOM counted against a stock list this way anywhere. Our guide on how to cross-reference an MLCC explains the five-field method, and the MLCC range lists the series.

Why do the three lines at 250 V and above come back empty on the shelf?

Because the shelf is thin there. Of the three lines at 250 V and above, each has 2 to 4 candidates in the export, exactly one outside the automotive and soft-termination series, and none is on the 23 September 2026 list. Lines 7, 8 and 9 are the 1 nF and 10 nF parts at 630 V and 250 V.

For line 7 the export returns 1206B102K631 plus three others in automotive and soft-termination series, which add qualification or termination differences you may not need. For line 9 it returns 1812B103K631 and one soft-termination part. The voltage rung is not a derating argument. Our post on MLCC DC bias and voltage derating shows why a part at its rated voltage loses capacitance, and the rating on the label is where you start, not where you stop.

What do Walsin’s documents say about solar and industrial use?

Almost nothing. We converted all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text and searched them: solar and photovoltaic each appear in 0 of 28 files. The word inverter appears in 4, always as back-lighting inverters, and industrial equipment is named as an application in 2 (the MG and HT sheets).

Power supply is named in 8 sheets, as an application of general purpose and soft-termination series, which is the nearest the paperwork comes to your boards. We hold no datasheet for the inductor, MOV, disc, RF or thin film lines, and the WR general purpose resistor sheet is ASC_WR_V24, September 2016, ten years old. A series that appears in an export is not a series that has been approved for a solar duty cycle.

What will we not tell you about Kazakhstan?

Anything about customs, export control or sanctions screening. We hold no office, entity or stock in Kazakhstan; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty, certification requirement, transit time or carrier for Kazakhstan, and we give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949, and we do not claim any Walsin part is qualified for photovoltaic service.

How Venatech helps

Start with your own bill of materials. Paste a line into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload the list to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. Lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment are available on request. The 14-line table above is our worked example; the chip resistor range covers lines 10 to 14. Qualification stays with you.

The short version

Do not wait for a perfect BOM. In our 14-line sample, 14 of 14 lines have a Walsin candidate, 8 of 14 have one on the Hong Kong shelf, and the gaps cluster at 250 V and above and in one 10 µF X5R line. Kazakhstan’s installed solar base was about 1,375 MW in the second quarter of 2026, with 245 MW of renewables planned this year.

Send us your top 20 BOM lines and we will return the Walsin candidates with every difference stated and the shelf status of each. Which of your lines would you least like to discover is a single-source line after the order is placed?
