Industrial automation electronics for France repeat the same resistor on every channel, which is where a resistor array can replace discretes. We matched our 23 September 2026 stock list to Walsin’s export: 177 of 236 stocked general purpose lines have an array twin. At 0402, none of 74 matches the 100 ppm TCR.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, wrote this from the Walsin Technology (Walsin) chip resistor exports (137 files, 234,815 rows), the array files among them (Thick_Film_Chip_Resistor_Array__1of1.xlsx, 7,250 rows), our stock list as at 23 September 2026 (1,125 part numbers) and the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages. It is for a design engineer or buyer at a French machine, drive or controls maker. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. The market statements name the source, its date and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.
What did the IFR report about robot installations in France?
France installed 4,500 industrial robots in 2025. The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) reported in September 2026 that France took a 7 percent share of EU installations, with the automotive industry at 21 percent of national demand and the metal industry at 18 percent. The same release put Italy at 7,800 robots and Spain at 4,300.
For the EU as a whole it reported annual installations down 11 percent to 60,500 units, and an operational stock that passed 700,000 robots. The release says nothing about electronic components, shortages or any named supplier, and we draw no conclusion about which parts any French company buys. We have no relationship with the IFR.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| France, 2025 | 4,500 industrial robots installed; 7 percent of the EU | IFR via Business Wire, 24 September 2026 | Match for context only |
| France, customers | Automotive 21 percent, metal industry 18 percent of national demand | IFR press release, September 2026 | Mismatch with any component claim: no part is named |
| EU-27, 2025 | Installations down 11 percent to 60,500; stock past 700,000 | IFR via Business Wire, 24 September 2026 | Mismatch: no electronics are mentioned |
Why does a multi-channel automation board push a buyer towards resistor arrays?
Because the same value repeats on every channel. Our view, not the IFR’s: a controller input or output card with 16 or 32 channels carries the same pull-up, series or divider resistor once per channel, and a four-element array puts four of them in one placement. An array is one part number and one pick for four resistors, and it can only be bought in the values and sizes the array files list.
That is the question we could test. Walsin’s array file lists 7,250 part numbers in elements of two, four or eight, at 0201 to 0603, at plus or minus 1 and 5 percent. Our posts on what a chip resistor array is and on arrays against discretes cover the layout trade; this one counts what our shelf can cross to.
How many stocked Walsin resistor lines have an array twin?
177 of 236. We joined all 254 chip resistor lines in our stock list, as at 23 September 2026, to the export after removing the embedded space that 39,576 Walsin resistor part numbers carry: 249 join and 236 are plain general purpose lines. We matched each to the 7,250-row array file on element size, resistance and tolerance: 177 have an array twin: 3 of 4 at 0201, 75 of 78 at 0402 and 99 of 100 at 0603.
The 59 without are mostly outside the array range. None of the 54 stocked lines at 0805, 1206 and 2512 has an array twin, because the array files list elements at 0201, 0402 and 0603 only. The other five are one 0201 value (1,240 ohm), three 0402 values (1.5, 2.7 and 3.3 megohm) and one 0603 value (2.70 ohm). We have not seen this counted anywhere. Only 1 array line is itself on our shelf, WA04X300JTL.
| Stocked size | Stocked lines | With an array twin | Twin at the same TCR | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0201 | 4 | 3 | 3 | Match on size, value, tolerance, TCR; mismatch on footprint; the 1,240 ohm line has no twin |
| 0402 | 78 | 75 | 1 (a 0 ohm jumper) | Match on size, value, tolerance; mismatch on TCR at every non-jumper line |
| 0603 | 100 | 99 | 78 of 98 non-jumper | Match on three fields; mismatch on TCR for 20 lines |
| 0805, 1206, 2512 | 54 | 0 | 0 | Mismatch: no array at that element size |
| All | 236 | 177 | 83 | 94 twins differ on TCR |
The TCR split is the point for a controls buyer. The general purpose line is rated at 100 ppm. Of the 74 non-jumper 0402 twins, 0 are listed at 100 ppm: the 0402 arrays are listed at 200 or 300 ppm. The 0603 four-element convex array does reach 100 ppm at 1 percent.
Which worked part numbers show the array twins, and what differs?
Take the stocked 0603 line WR06X4701FTL: 4,700 ohm, plus or minus 1 percent, 100 ppm, one tenth of a watt. WA06X4701FTL, the four-element convex array, matches it on element size, value, tolerance, TCR and rated power; the two-element, eight-element and concave arrays differ on TCR and, for two of them, on rated power. The last column is for your incumbent part.
| Walsin part | Series as exported | Size, value, tolerance, TCR, power | Match / mismatch | Your incumbent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
WR06X4701FTL |
General Purpose | 0603, 4,700 ohm, 1%, 100 ppm, 1/10 W | Reference line, stocked as at 23 September 2026 | |
WA06X4701FTL |
Array 0603*4, Convex | Same value and tolerance, 100 ppm, 1/10 W | Match on five fields; mismatch on footprint and pin count | |
WA06Y4701FTL |
Array 0603*2, Convex | Same, 200 ppm, 1/10 W | Match on four; mismatch on TCR | |
WA06W4701FTL |
Array as exported “0602*8”, Convex | Same, 200 ppm, 1/16 W | Match on value, tolerance; mismatch on TCR and power | |
WR04X4701FTL |
General Purpose | 0402, 4,700 ohm, 1%, 100 ppm, 1/16 W | Reference line, stocked | |
WA04X4701FTL |
Array 0402*4, Convex | Same, 200 ppm, 1/16 W | Match on value, tolerance, power; mismatch on TCR | |
WA04T4701FTL |
Array 0402*4, Concave | Same, 300 ppm, 1/16 W | Match on value, tolerance, power; mismatch on TCR | |
WR04W1504FTL |
General Purpose | 0402, 1.5 megohm, 1%, 100 ppm | Stocked; mismatch: no array twin at this value | |
WR08X1002FTL |
General Purpose | 0805, 10,000 ohm, 1%, 100 ppm, 1/8 W | Stocked; mismatch: no array at 0805 |
The export spells the series two ways, “Convex Type” and “Convex type”, and labels the eight-element array “0602*8” on all 1,110 rows; a filter on the exact string drops half of them. A footprint change is a layout change, and an array shares one power budget across its elements. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
What do Walsin’s documents say about automation?
Nothing. We converted all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, to text and searched them: automation, robot, PLC, factory and machinery each appear in 0 of 28 files. The word industrial appears in 3, and in one of those it is a waste vendor, not an application.
We hold no sheet for the array series. The two resistor sheets we hold are the WR general purpose sheet (ASC_WR_V24, dated September 2016, ten years old) and the MR automotive sheet, so the array TCR and rated power above come from the export, not a datasheet. Walsin’s wording for automotive parts is “compliant”, never “certified”.
What can a Hong Kong distributor not tell a French automation maker?
Anything about French or European machinery, safety or controls rules. We hold no office, entity or stock in France; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty, customs position, transit time or carrier, and we give no legal, customs or compliance advice; confirm with your compliance team. We make no claim that any Walsin part is qualified for a safety function.
How Venatech helps
Start with the cross-reference. Paste the resistor from your input card into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and lists Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a card’s bill of materials to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. We offer lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment on request. We hold neither ISO 9001 nor IATF 16949. The tables above came from our own export; the chip resistor range lists the families. Qualification stays with you.
The short version
For a French controls board, the array is a real option on 177 of the 236 resistor lines we hold, but only at 0201 to 0603, and only the 0603 four-element array keeps the 100 ppm of the discrete. At 0402 the array gives up half the TCR. Of 28 Walsin datasheets, 0 name automation, and we hold no sheet for the array series.
Send us one input-channel resistor from your board and we will return the Walsin discrete and array candidates with every difference stated. If your channel count doubles next year, will a 200 ppm array still fit the error budget?
