Industrial controls resistors for South Africa cross from Vishay CRCW codes only if you choose the family first. Five CRCW lines match 110 Walsin Technology (Walsin) rows on size, value, tolerance and a 100 ppm ceiling, but only 45 sit in the General Purpose family, and 3 of the 5 lines have a plain part on our Hong Kong shelf.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, wrote this for a purchasing or design engineer at a South African motor-drive, controls or instrumentation maker whose bill of materials carries Vishay CRCW codes. We decoded five real lines with Vishay’s own numbering document and searched the Walsin chip resistor export of 234,815 rows (234,401 distinct part numbers). News statements name their source and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.
What did South Africa’s factory index say in September 2026?
A rebound, with caveats. The Absa manufacturing purchasing managers’ index rose to 50.7 in September 2026 from 45.8 in August, the first reading above the neutral 50 mark since May, with new sales orders at 50.8 against 40.3 the month before.
The same release, as reported on 1 and 2 October 2026, says business activity stayed just below neutral at 49.3, employment weakened, order backlogs stayed subdued and expected conditions six months ahead edged up to 55.3. Absa and the Bureau for Economic Research called it a welcome improvement after a weak winter but said a sustained move above 50 is needed to confirm recovery, and that shipping delays at Durban harbour inflated the supplier-deliveries reading. Our reasoning, labelled as ours: a plant coming off a weak quarter reorders in small, mixed lots, which is when a second source for a standard resistor line is easiest to qualify. We have no relationship with Absa or any South African manufacturer.
How do five Vishay CRCW ordering codes decode?
Five fields, and Vishay prints the tables. We decoded five CRCW codes with Vishay’s document 20035 (revision 14 April 2026): model and size, resistance with R for the decimal point, K for thousand and M for million, a tolerance letter, a temperature-coefficient letter, and a lead-free packaging code.
In all five codes the tolerance is F (plus or minus 1 percent) and the coefficient is K (plus or minus 100 ppm per kelvin). Each code appeared in distributor or aggregator listings on 23 October 2026, which shows it exists; we did not confirm the five with Vishay. Two cautions from the document itself: it lists only F and J as tolerance letters and reports the plus or minus 100 ppm option only at plus or minus 1 percent, with plus or minus 200 ppm for 1 to 9.76 ohm values in the 14 April 2026 revision.

Our post on cross-referencing chip resistors to Walsin explains the Walsin side of the same exercise.
Which Walsin rows match, and why are only 45 of 110 General Purpose?
Because size, value, tolerance and a TCR ceiling do not choose a family. We counted 110 Walsin rows that share size, resistance, plus or minus 1 percent and a TCR of 100 ppm or better with the five lines, spread over six families: General Purpose 45, High Power 34, High Precision 12, High Voltage 11, Anti-Surge 7 and Array 1.
A standard thick-film CRCW line corresponds to Walsin’s General Purpose family, WR, MR and SR, so the other 65 rows answer a different question: a buyer who filters only on those four fields would be shown arrays, anti-surge and high-voltage parts. Of the 45 General Purpose rows, 22 begin with W (commercial), 13 with M and 10 with S; the M and S prefixes are separate Walsin classes, not the same part with a different label. The last letters of a Walsin code (J, V, Z, W) mark special-function variants; the Walsin resistor sheet we hold for the WR series is dated September 2016, so we do not explain those letters here and ask you to confirm them with us before buying a variant.
| Vishay line | Rows matching four fields | General Purpose rows | Walsin commercial candidate | Walsin power | On shelf 23 Sep 2026 | Match / mismatch |

28 | 10 | WR08X1003FTL |
1/8 W | Yes | Match on size, 100 kilohm, 1%, 100 ppm. Mismatch: Vishay headline is 0.25 W; the 1/4 W Walsin rows are MR08X1003FTL and SR08X1003FTL |
CRCW12061K00FKEA |

12 | 5 | WR25F10R0FTL |
1 W | No | Match on size, 10 ohm, 1%, 100 ppm and 1 W. Mismatch: not on shelf; WR25X10R0FTL is 200 ppm, not 100 |
CRCW040210K0FKED |
18 | 10 | WR04X1002FTL |
1/16 W | No | Match on size, 10 kilohm, 1%, 100 ppm. Mismatch: Vishay headline 0.10 W, standard 0.063 W; not on shelf |
Walsin’s export lists packaging as a 7-inch reel on all 110 rows with no quantity, so the reel counts in the Vishay column cannot be compared.
How many Walsin code variants sit behind one CRCW line?
Ten, for four of the five lines. Each General Purpose set holds 10 rows at 0402, 0603, 0805 and 1206 (5 with a W first letter, 3 with M and 2 with S) and 5 rows at 2512 (2 W, 1 M and 2 S), and in 4 of the 5 sets the rows carry two different power ratings.
| Vishay line | General Purpose rows | W / M / S rows | Power ratings inside the set |
|---|---|---|---|
CRCW040210K0FKED |
10 | 5 / 3 / 2 | 1/16 W and 1/10 W |
CRCW060310K0FKEA |
10 | 5 / 3 / 2 | 1/10 W and 1/8 W |
CRCW0805100KFKEA |
10 | 5 / 3 / 2 | 1/8 W and 1/4 W |
CRCW12061K00FKEA |
10 | 5 / 3 / 2 | 1/4 W only |
CRCW251210R0FKEG |
5 | 2 / 1 / 2 | 1 W and 2 W |
So “the Walsin part” for one CRCW line is a choice among ten code variants, and picking by value and size alone can land on a part with a different power rating from the one beside it. Vishay’s document 20035 prints a rated dissipation at 70 degrees C of 0.10 W at 0402, 0.125 W at 0603 and 0.25 W at 0805 as the headline and states that the standard operating mode is one step lower (0.063 W, 0.10 W and 0.125 W); the Walsin W-prefix rows at those sizes read 1/16 W, 1/10 W and 1/8 W, the standard-mode figure. Our post on chip resistor power rating by case size sets out the Walsin side. The Walsin export carries no voltage rating for these rows, while Vishay prints 75 V at 0402 and 0603, 150 V at 0805, 200 V at 1206 and 500 V at 2512, so confirm voltage against the Walsin datasheet.
What does the Hong Kong shelf hold for these five lines?
Three plain commercial parts. Our stock list as at 23 September 2026 holds WR06X1002FTL, WR08X1003FTL and WR12X1001FTL, so 3 of the 5 lines have a General Purpose part on the shelf, and the 2512 and 0402 lines do not.
We matched the stock list’s 254 chip resistor rows to the export and 249 matched; the shelf is a dated snapshot, not live-synced, so see the ready-stock list. The range is in our chip resistor range.
We have not seen this counted anywhere: five standard thick-film lines, 110 Walsin rows that pass a four-field filter, 45 in the right family, 22 with a commercial first letter, 3 on the shelf, a 2512 10 ohm line where the look-alike WR25X part misses the 100 ppm ceiling, and four of five sets that hold two power ratings.
What should a South African maker check that this table cannot show?
Grade and voltage, first. If your drawing calls for AEC-Q200, a plain W-prefix part is not that, and we make no claim that any of the 110 rows is suitable for your application. Vishay’s product page lists AEC-Q200 under features and automotive as an application; Walsin’s grade is carried in the first letter and in the suffix, which you should confirm with us.
Next, the voltage gap above, and the reel quantity, which you can request. Qualification stays with you. We hold no office, entity or stock in South Africa, we give no legal, customs or conformity advice (confirm with your compliance team), and we hold no ISO 9001 certificate. Our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. Open the Vishay datasheet and the Walsin datasheet for each pair, because a datasheet states what a part number and an export row do not; our counts come from the Walsin export and the stock list as at 23 September 2026, and from the Vishay datasheet we cite, not from any Walsin datasheet. Send us the Walsin datasheet request and we will return the pages for the series you shortlist.
How Venatech helps
Paste a Vishay, Yageo, KOA or Panasonic resistor code into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Load a whole BOM, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file, to run every line at once. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026.
Worked example from our own export: the five lines above returned 110 rows, 45 in the General Purpose family, and our shelf covers 3 of them. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We serve from Hong Kong in small lots and cross-reference by hand when a code will not decode. A quote is requested through the site, and the 28 datasheets we hold (451 pages) are sent on request.
The short version
For a South African controls maker, a Vishay CRCW line is crossed by family first and fields second: 110 Walsin rows pass a four-field filter, 45 are General Purpose, and 3 of the 5 lines have the plain part on the Hong Kong shelf. The open items are which of ten variants you mean, the power rating inside the set, voltage, the 200 ppm part at 2512 and AEC-Q200 if your drawing needs it.
Paste your controls BOM into /bom/ or send us the CRCW lines you want crossed, and we will return the Walsin candidates with the power and grade differences named. Which of your resistor lines is derated from the headline figure rather than the standard-mode one?
