Telecom Resilience Electronics for Tonga from Hong Kong: A 100 V, 10 Nanofarad, NP0 Line Finds 16 Walsin Rows in 5 Case Sizes, the 0805 Has Only 1 and the 1210 Is Thinner Than the 1206 at 0.95 mm, and None of the 16 Is on Our Shelf

Telecom resilience electronics for Tonga, such as a power board at a cable landing or tower site, may call for a 100 V NP0 ceramic. We searched the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC export for 10 nanofarad, NP0, 100 V: 16 rows in 5 case sizes, only 1 of them in 0805, and none on our Hong Kong shelf.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin MLCC export of 24,026 rows (23,601 distinct part numbers) and a ready-stock list dated 23 September 2026. This post is for a design or procurement engineer at a Tongan telecom operator, contractor or equipment workshop who has a power or line-interface board and wants a second source in small lots from Hong Kong. Every Walsin part number is real, every count is ours, and the news statement names its source and the day we fetched it, 2 November 2026.

What does Tonga’s second international cable mean for an electronics buyer?

It means a network built for redundancy, and redundancy is made of power and interface boards. The Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific reports that the Tonga Hawaiki Submarine Cable Branch System, a 405 km branch to the existing cable landing station in Vava’u, landed in Tonga in March 2026 and was marked complete at an event in May 2026, with a grant of 35.6 million Australian dollars and partners in the governments of Tonga and New Zealand and Tonga Cable Limited.

The page, fetched on 2 November 2026, says the 2022 Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai eruption severed Tonga’s international and domestic cables and that the second cable provides what it calls critical network redundancy. It names no equipment or supplier, so we draw no link between it and any part number. Our view, labelled as ours: a resilient network needs spares for the boards that power and monitor it, and a 100 V ceramic is a common choice where a 48 V supply needs margin. We have no relationship with Tonga Cable Limited or any operator.

Which Walsin rows answer a 100 V, 10 nanofarad, NP0 line?

Sixteen, in five case sizes, and the sizes are not evenly served. We parsed all 960 General Purpose NP0 rows rated 100 Vdc and found 16 at 10 nanofarad: 4 in 0603, 1 in 0805, 4 in 1206, 4 in 1210 and 3 in 1812. We have not seen this line counted anywhere.

The 0603 reaches 10 nanofarad only as a ceiling, since 10 nF is the largest value in the 0603 at 100 V NP0. The 0805 offers a single tolerance, plus or minus 5%, where the 0603, 1206 and 1210 offer plus or minus 1%, 2% and 5% and also plus or minus 10%. Our post on NP0 against X7R against X5R dielectrics explains why a telecom board might choose NP0, and MLCC DC bias and voltage derating covers the class II side.

How do the candidates compare field by field?

Height, tolerance and case separate them. The table sets one part per size against a 10 nanofarad, 100 V, NP0, plus or minus 5% line.

Walsin part Case, height as exported Tolerance On shelf 23 Sep 2026 Match / mismatch against a 10 nF, 100 V, NP0, 5% line
0603N103J101 0603, 0.80 +0.15/-0.10 mm plus or minus 5% No Match on value, voltage, dielectric and tolerance; case may differ from your footprint
0805N103J101 0805, 1.25 plus or minus 0.10 mm plus or minus 5% No Match on electrical fields; the only 0805 row at this value
1206N103J101 1206, 1.25 plus or minus 0.10 mm plus or minus 5% No Match on electrical fields
1210N103J101 1210, 0.95 plus or minus 0.10 mm plus or minus 5% No Match on electrical fields; mismatch on case if your pad is 1206
1812N103J101 1812, 1.25 plus or minus 0.10 mm plus or minus 5% No Mismatch: case, 1812 is a larger footprint
1210N103K101 1210, 0.95 plus or minus 0.10 mm plus or minus 10% No Mismatch: tolerance, 10% against 5%

The 1210 row is thinner than the 1206 and 0805 rows at the same value, 0.95 mm against 1.25 mm, which is the opposite of what the case sizes suggest. If board height matters, the 1210 is the lower body; if footprint matters, the 0603 is the smaller.

How high does the 100 V NP0 ladder go, and where does the shelf stop?

The ceiling climbs with the case, and the shelf stays low. The 960 General Purpose NP0 rows at 100 V reach 220 pF in 0402, 10 nF in 0603, 22 nF in 0805, 47 nF in both 1206 and 1210, and 100 nF in 1812; our shelf holds 15 of the 960 and the highest stocked value in any size is 4.7 nF, 1210N472J101.

So the 1210 gains nothing over the 1206 on the ceiling, 47 nF in both, and 1812 is the only size that reaches 100 nF. As at 23 September 2026 none of the 16 candidates at 10 nF is on our list, and a 10 nF, 100 V NP0 is a factory order requested through the site. The ready stock list is a dated snapshot, never live-synced, and we quote part-number counts, never piece counts. Our post on how to check Walsin stock and reserve it explains how to read it.

What will we not tell you about telecom boards?

Anything about a network, a site or a standard. We searched the text of all 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, and found telecommunication mentioned in 7 of them and a base station in 3, all as application lists on the RF, High Q, general-purpose and MR resistor sheets, and 0 mentions of marine, salt or tropic.

Those sentences are generic application lists, not qualifications for a cable station. We cannot say whether an NP0 part suits a surge-exposed line board, and we do not claim it; ratings, impulse levels and derating stay with you, and our MLCC range lists the families. We hold no office, entity or stock in Tonga; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We give no legal, customs or conformity advice; confirm with your compliance team.

Why do buyers in Tonga choose Venatech?

Because we show a Tongan buyer the mismatches as well as the matches, and we can prove the rest: 28 Walsin datasheets held, 451 pages, and one named authorised line. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong; Walsin is our only authorised line, and Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We confirm nothing we cannot show.

Tongan buyers need small quantities moved a long way, and being Hong Kong-based means we ship from the same region. For a power or interface board:

  • We tell you which size to ask for. At 10 nanofarad the 0805 has one row, the 1210 is thinner than the 1206, and you see that before you choose a footprint.
  • We name the shelf ceiling. Our 100 V NP0 stock stops at 4.7 nanofarad, so a 10 nanofarad request is a factory order and we say so on day one.

  • Hong Kong-based service, small lots welcome. A prototype or pilot quantity is a normal order for us, requested through the site.

  • Breadth you can count. Our Walsin extracts (00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx, Walsin_Inductor_ALL.xlsx, Walsin_MOV_ALL.xlsx, Walsin_DiscCap_ALL.xlsx, Walsin_Antenna_ALL.xlsx and the chip-resistor, thin-film and RF files) hold 359,135 distinct part numbers, and the VenaMatch tool covers 800,000+ crossable parts.
  • Honest cross-referencing. Every candidate is shown with each field marked match or mismatch, so you see the gap before you lay out a board.
  • Checkable credentials. We are an authorised Walsin Technology distributor in Hong Kong, which you can confirm with Walsin. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and send the relevant one on request.

How can Venatech help a Tongan buyer with a telecom power-board bill of materials?

By showing the differences instead of hiding them, across 800,000+ crossable parts, in small lots. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Walsin is our only authorised line; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply.

  • Cross-reference. Paste your incumbent number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch.
  • BOM check. Upload the whole bill of materials to /bom/, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file.
  • Ready stock. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026, not live.
  • Service. Hong Kong-based, small lots, help with cross-referencing by hand when the tool returns no clean candidate, and a quote requested through the site.

Worked example from our own export: a 10 nanofarad, 100 V, NP0, plus or minus 5% capacitor on a 1206 pad maps to 1206N103J101, to 1210N103J101 if you can use a 1210 pad and want a thinner body, and to nothing on the shelf, since neither is stocked. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.

The short version

For a Tongan telecom buyer, a 100 V, 10 nanofarad, NP0 line finds 16 Walsin rows in 5 sizes, only 1 in 0805, and the 1210 is the thinnest at 0.95 mm. None of the 16 is on the Hong Kong shelf, where the 100 V NP0 stock stops at 4.7 nanofarad.

Paste one board capacitor into the free cross-reference tool, or upload the whole bill of materials to /bom/, and we will return the Walsin candidates with every difference stated and the stock position named. If the 1210 body is thinner than your 1206, would you move the pad to take it?

Frequently asked questions

What did the Tonga second cable project deliver?

The Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific reports a 405 km branch of the Hawaiki cable to Vava’u, landed in March 2026 and completed in May 2026 with a 35.6 million Australian dollar grant. The page names no equipment or supplier.

How many Walsin NP0 rows match 10 nanofarad at 100 V?

We counted 16 among 960 General Purpose NP0 rows at 100 Vdc: 4 in 0603, 1 in 0805, 4 in 1206, 4 in 1210 and 3 in 1812. The 0805 has only a plus or minus 5% row.

Is the 1210 really thinner than the 1206 at 10 nanofarad?

In the export, yes: 0.95 plus or minus 0.10 mm for the 1210 against 1.25 plus or minus 0.10 mm for the 1206 and 0805. Confirm the height against Walsin’s datasheet before you rely on it.

Is a 10 nanofarad, 100 V NP0 on the Hong Kong shelf?

No. As at 23 September 2026 none of the 16 is on our stock list, and the highest stocked 100 V NP0 value in any size is 4.7 nanofarad. Each candidate is a quote requested through the site. The list is a dated snapshot and is never live-synced.

Can Venatech say a Walsin NP0 capacitor suits a cable station?

No. The 28 datasheets we hold, 451 pages, mention telecommunication in 7 and a base station in 3 as generic application lists, and say nothing about cable stations or salt. Ratings and derating stay with you, and we give no compliance advice.

Does Venatech have an office in Tonga?

No. We hold no office, entity or stock in Tonga. Venatech Limited is based in Hong Kong with locations in Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, and Chengdu in preparation. We serve Tongan buyers from Hong Kong in small lots.
