Audio amplifier electronics for United States makers can buy the Zobel capacitor from the shelf but not the Zobel resistor. We counted Walsin’s 10 Ω chip resistors: 73 of 467 are rated 1 W or more, 31 of them at ±1%, and none is on our Hong Kong shelf, while the 100 nF, 100 V X7R capacitor is stocked at 0603, 0805 and 1206.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) chip resistor export of 234,815 rows, 234,401 of them distinct part numbers, and the MLCC export of 24,026 rows, 23,601 distinct. This post is for a design engineer or buyer at a United States maker of power amplifiers, mixers, powered speakers or stage and studio gear who wants to know what a Hong Kong source can offer for the output network. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. We make no claim about sound quality, which no passive datasheet we hold measures.
What happened at the AES Show, and why should an amplifier buyer care?
It closed yesterday, and it was the audio trade’s autumn gathering for the United States. The Audio Engineering Society’s AES Show ran at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville from 30 October to 1 November 2026, and the AES programme at NAB Show New York ran at the Javits Center on 22 October 2026. We read the Sports Video Group report, dated 19 October 2026, on 2 November 2026.
The report gives no attendance or exhibitor figures, and we quote none. It matters to a buyer for a plain reason: the shows are where amplifier makers commit to next year’s designs, and the output network is the part of an amplifier schematic that most often gets re-sourced late.
What is a Zobel network, and which passives does it use?
It is a resistor and capacitor in series across an amplifier output, and it keeps the load the amplifier sees steady at high frequency. A common starting point is 10 Ω in series with 100 nF, and the amplifier maker’s datasheet sets the real values and the real wattage. We use that pair as the brief because it is a widely printed starting point, not because it fits every design.
Two parts follow. The resistor must dissipate whatever the amplifier pushes into it, which is why a 0603 part is rarely the answer. The capacitor must survive the rail, which on a mid-power amplifier can be 50 V or more, so a 100 V rung gives margin. Our MLCC DC bias and voltage derating post explains why a class II capacitor loses capacitance under bias, and our post on the NP0, X7R and X5R dielectrics explains what you give up when you pick X7R.
How many Walsin 10 Ω resistors can take 1 W or more?
73 of 467, and the shelf holds none of them. We counted the Walsin chip resistor export for a resistance of exactly 10 Ω: 467 distinct part numbers, 73 rated 1 W or more, and 31 of those 73 at ±1%. The case sizes tell you why the number is small. 43 are 2512, 16 are 2010, 6 are 1218, 4 are 1225, 2 are 1020 and 2 are 0612.
The shelf, as at 23 September 2026, holds 3 lines at 10 Ω: WR06X10R0FTL (0603, 1/10 W), WR04X10R0FTL (0402, 1/16 W) and one ±5% 0603 line. We have not seen this counted anywhere: all 3 stocked 10 Ω lines are rated 1/10 W or less, so none can sit in a 1 W Zobel position, and every one of the 73 parts that can is a factory order. That is a fact about stock, not about Walsin’s range, which is wide.
| Walsin part | Case | Rated power | Series group | In stock 23 September 2026 | Match / mismatch (10 Ω, ±1%, 1 W or more) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
WR25X10R0FTL |
2512 | 1 W | General purpose | No | Match on value, tolerance and power |
MR25X10R0FTL |
2512 | 1 W | General purpose | No | Match; confirm the series datasheet for the MR prefix |
WF25P10R0FTL |
2512 | 2 W | High power | No | Match, with headroom to 2 W |
WF25A10R0FZL |
2512 | 3 W | High power | No | Match, with headroom to 3 W |
WF20P10R0FTL |
2010 | 1 W | High power | No | Match on value and power; mismatch on case if you drew a 2512 |
WR06X10R0FTL |
0603 | 1/10 W | General purpose | Yes | Mismatch: one tenth of the power |
Rated power on a chip resistor is a rating at a stated ambient, and a pulsed or high-frequency load changes the arithmetic. Our post on chip resistor power rating by case size shows how the rating moves with the footprint.
Which Walsin 100 nF, 100 V X7R capacitors are on the shelf?
Three, one at each of 0603, 0805 and 1206. We counted 45 distinct Walsin MLCC part numbers at 100 nF, 100 V and X7R: 8 at 0603, 10 at 0805, 14 at 1206, 6 at 1210, 5 at 1812 and one each at 2220 and 2225, and the shelf holds 0603B104K101, 0805B104K101 and 1206B104K101. All three are ±10% general purpose parts.
| Walsin part | Case | Tolerance | Series | In stock 23 September 2026 | Match / mismatch (100 nF, 100 V, X7R) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1206B104K101 |
1206 | ±10% | General purpose | Yes | Match on value, rating and dielectric |
0805B104K101 |
0805 | ±10% | General purpose | Yes | Match; mismatch on case if you drew a 1206 |
0603B104K101 |
0603 | ±10% | General purpose | Yes | Match on value and rating; smaller case |
1206B104J101 |
1206 | ±5% | General purpose | No | Match; mismatch on tolerance (tighter) |
SH31B104K101 |
1206 | ±10% | Soft termination SH | No | Match; mismatch on termination |
The class II caveat applies: a 100 nF X7R part at working voltage holds less than 100 nF. Our post on soft termination MLCC explains the SH row, which is the one to ask about if the board flexes.
We hold no datasheet that mentions audio, loudspeaker or amplifier use, and we make no claim of suitability for a listening application. Choosing between a class II part and an NP0 part for a signal path is your engineer’s decision, and the datasheet does not make it for you.
Why buyers in the United States choose Venatech
Because we are plain about what we can and cannot supply, and we can show it with counts. A United States amplifier maker asking for one Zobel pair gets a straight answer: the capacitor is on the shelf, the resistor is a factory order.
- We are an authorised Walsin Technology distributor in Hong Kong. Confirm it with Walsin. Walsin is our only authorised line; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply.
- We show the mismatches as well as the matches. VenaMatch decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and states every difference from your original, field by field. That honesty is the product.
- We cover the whole passive range, with counts you can check. The Walsin MLCC export we hold runs to 23,601 distinct part numbers across 16 series, and the chip resistor export to 234,401 distinct part numbers, so a Zobel pair is a small request against a large catalogue.
- Small lots are welcome. We are Hong Kong-based and a prototype run or a pilot build is a normal request, not an exception.
- We hold documents, and we say which. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and send the one for your part number on request. Where a document is not in the set we hold, we say so in plain words.
- One route to a quote. Paste a list into the free cross-reference tool, check it on /bom/, look at the dated ready stock list, and request a quote through the site.
How can Venatech help a United States audio amplifier maker?
By crossing the part you have already chosen, stating the differences, and telling you what is missing. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Walsin is our only authorised line, and the other lines we supply are Stackpole and Viking.
- Cross-reference. Paste your incumbent number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read each Walsin candidate with match and mismatch stated field by field.
- BOM check. Upload a bill of materials to /bom/ and have each line checked against the same engine.
- Ready stock. The ready stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026, never live-synced.
- Service. Hong Kong-based, small lots, cross-referencing help, and a quote requested through the site. Our address is Unit 207, 2/F, Sun Ling Plaza, 30 On Kui Street, Fanling, N.T., Hong Kong, telephone (852) 2628 4777.
A worked example from our own exports: a 10 Ω, ±1%, 1 W Zobel resistor maps to WR25X10R0FTL or, for headroom, WF25P10R0FTL, both factory orders, and the 100 nF, 100 V capacitor maps to the stocked 1206B104K101. Our chip resistor range and MLCC range list the families. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
The short version
The AES Show ran in Nashville from 30 October to 1 November 2026. For a Zobel pair, 73 of 467 Walsin 10 Ω resistors are rated 1 W or more and none is on the shelf, while the 100 nF, 100 V X7R capacitor is stocked at 0603, 0805 and 1206. No datasheet we hold mentions audio use.
Send us the output network from one amplifier board and we will return the Walsin candidates with the differences stated. When you size the Zobel resistor, do you pick the case first or the wattage?
