MLCC Reel Quantity: 12 of Walsin’s 24 Datasheets Publish Pieces Per Reel, and the Export Publishes It on 0 of 24,026 Rows

MLCC reel quantity is published for exactly half of Walsin’s MLCC series and for none of its part numbers. We opened all 24 series datasheets: 12 carry a pieces-per-reel table and 12 do not. We then checked the export’s Packing and SPQ columns across all 24,026 rows. Both are empty on every row.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds 28 Walsin Technology (Walsin) datasheets, 451 pages. This post is written from the PACKAGING STYLE AND QUANTITY and reel-dimension blocks in every one of them, and from 00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx. Every part number below is real and sits in that export. We read the tables out of the PDFs cell by cell rather than from the flowed text, because the size label is vertically centred in a merged cell and a naive text parse attaches it to the wrong row.

How many of Walsin’s 24 MLCC datasheets publish a pieces-per-reel figure?

Twelve. We opened all 26 MLCC documents. 12 of the 24 single-series approval sheets carry a PACKAGING STYLE AND QUANTITY table giving pieces per reel; the other 12 publish tape and reel dimensions and no quantity at all. The split does not follow grade, case size or price point. It follows nothing we can find.

Series sheet Pieces-per-reel table 13-inch column How the quantity is written
01_General_Purpose.pdf Yes, 35 rows yes 15,000
03_Large_Size_1825_2220_2225.pdf Yes, 4 rows yes, on 1 row of 4 1000, no separator
09_Microwave_Automotive_RT.pdf, 12_Soft_Term_Automotive_ST.pdf, 13_Soft_Term_Automotive_VT_VW80808.pdf, 15_High_Temperature_HT_150C.pdf, 20_Soft_Term_SG.pdf Yes yes 15,000
11_Automotive_MT.pdf, 14_MG_Series_High_Reliability.pdf, 17_Safety_X1Y2_Automotive_S2_H.pdf, 19_Soft_Term_SH.pdf Yes yes 15k, 0.5k for 500
21_Low_Profile_TT.pdf Yes, 7 rows no — 7-inch only 15k
02, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 10, 16, 18, 22, 23, 24 No — nothing published

Note the right-hand column. Six sheets write fifteen thousand as 15,000, five write it as 15k, and 03_Large_Size_1825_2220_2225.pdf writes one thousand as 1000 with no separator. Three notations for the same quantity inside one manufacturer’s own document set, which is enough to break any script that reads them all.

We have published before that Walsin states no pack quantity anywhere in its 203 parametric export files — see SPQ and MOQ for prototype buyers. This is the other half of that count, and it is better news than the export suggests: the figure exists, in a PDF, for half the series.

Do the datasheets agree with each other on the same case size and thickness?

Mostly, and the exceptions are the point. We lifted every 1808 and 1812 row out of the General Purpose, SH and ST tables and compared them cell by cell. Of the eight rows the three sheets share, six agree exactly and two do not — and one of the two differs by a factor of two.

Case size, chip thickness, symbol 01_General_Purpose.pdf 19_Soft_Term_SH.pdf 12_Soft_Term_Automotive_ST.pdf Match / mismatch

1825, 2.50 ± 0.30 mm, M, plastic tape not in the table 500 / none 500 / none Match between the two that publish it

SH42B102K202 and SH42B561K202 are the real 1808 parts that sit on the disputed row: both are X7R, 2000 Vdc, chip thickness 1.25 ± 0.10 mm, symbol D. Their own SH sheet says 2,000 on a 7-inch reel. The ST sheet says 1,000 for the same case size and the same thickness. We have not seen this counted anywhere, and we will not tell you which figure applies to your order — we will ask Walsin in writing and send you the answer.

Which reel diameters and tape widths does Walsin actually publish?

Two nominal diameters, and three different tolerances on one of them. All 24 MLCC series sheets publish a reel-dimension block. We read the A dimension out of every one: the 13-inch reel is 330.0 ± 2.0 mm on 15 sheets, 330.0 ± 1.0 mm on 5, and 330.0 ± 0.50 mm on 1. The 7-inch reel splits the same way, 178.0 ± 2.0 mm on 17 sheets against 178.0 ± 1.0 mm on 5. Tape widths run 8 mm on the small cases, 12 mm across the whole safety range, and 16 mm on the Mega Cap sheets.

Reel dimension 178.0 ± 2.0 group 178.0 ± 1.0 group Match / mismatch
7-inch outside diameter A 17 series sheets 5 series sheets — 03, 16, 17, 18, 20 Mismatch — same nominal, two tolerances
13-inch outside diameter A 330.0 ± 2.0 on 15 330.0 ± 1.0 on 5, 330.0 ± 0.50 on 24 Mismatch — three tolerances
Hub C 13.0 ± 0.5 on 18 13.0 +0.5/-0.2 on 5, 13.00 +0.50/-0.20 on 24, 13.0 ± 0.2 on both resistor sheets Mismatch — four conventions
10-inch outside diameter A 250.0 ± 1.0 on 20_Soft_Term_SG.pdf alone 254.0 ± 2.0 on both chip resistor sheets Mismatch — 4 mm apart on the same nominal reel

Two rows there repay a second look. 03_Large_Size_1825_2220_2225.pdf prints the hub as 13.0+0.5/-0.2 for the 7-inch reel and 13.0±0.5 for the 13-inch reel in adjacent cells of the same table on page 8. And 20_Soft_Term_SG.pdf is the only one of the 26 MLCC documents that dimensions a 10-inch reel at all — at 250.0 ± 1.0 mm, where both chip resistor sheets put the same nominal reel at 254.0 ± 2.0 mm. Its own ordering key offers only T for a 7-inch reel and G for a 13-inch one, so the SG sheet dimensions a reel it has no code to order.

Does the parametric export carry any reel quantity at all?

No, and it has two columns that look as though it should. 00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx carries a Packing column and an SPQ column. We counted the non-null values in both across all 24,026 rows. Each returns zero. The Thickness column, which would let you join a part number to the datasheet’s thickness-symbol rows, also returns zero on all 24,026.

Export column Non-null rows of 24,026 What a buyer wanted from it Match / mismatch against the datasheet
Packing 0 paper or plastic tape, 7-inch or 13-inch Mismatch — the column exists and is empty
SPQ 0 pieces per reel Mismatch — the column exists and is empty
Thickness 0 the thickness figure the reel table is keyed on Mismatch — the column exists and is empty
Symbol 24,024 the thickness symbol letter Partial match — the letter is there, the millimetres are not
T 23,679 the chip thickness in millimetres Match, on 98.6 percent of rows — this is the only working route

So the join exists, but through a column nobody would think to use. Our own chip resistor count found the same shape on the other side of the catalogue — see chip resistor reel quantity and the packaging column.

Which 0201 part numbers reel at 70,000 and which at 50,000?

Almost all of them reel at 70,000, and the exceptions are invisible unless you read the thickness. We grouped all 1,118 General Purpose 0201 part numbers by their T value and mapped each group onto the three 0201 rows of the General Purpose packaging table. 1,079 reel at 70,000 pieces on a 13-inch reel. 26 reel at 50,000. 13 publish no thickness at all, so no reel quantity can be derived for them. We have not seen this counted anywhere.

0201 chip thickness in the T column Part numbers 7-inch paper reel 13-inch paper reel Example part number Match / mismatch with the symbol letter
0.30 ± 0.03 mm 1,079 15,000 70,000 0201B102K160 Mismatch — symbol reads L
0.30 ± 0.05 mm 14 15,000 50,000 0201S224K6R3 Mismatch — symbol also reads L
0.30 ± 0.09 mm 12 15,000 50,000 0201X105M4R0, 0201X334K160 Mismatch — symbol also reads L
no value 13 unknown unknown 0201N1R0A101 Mismatch — nothing to join on

The 1,079 figure includes 8 rows that write the same thickness as 0.3±0.03 rather than 0.30±0.03. That matters more than it reads: 16 rows across the whole export write the chip thickness with one decimal place instead of two, across six distinct values. A string join on the thickness column silently drops them.

Why does one symbol letter point at more than one reel quantity?

Because the symbol is not unique within a case size. We grouped the export by case size and symbol letter and checked how many distinct thickness values each pair carries. 18 of the 64 pairs carry more than one. At 0201, symbol L covers five distinct strings and three real thicknesses — and those three thicknesses are the 70,000 row and the two 50,000 rows above.

It gets worse at 1210, where symbol M carries five thickness values, and at 0603, where X carries four. The reel table is keyed on thickness in millimetres. The export gives you the letter and withholds the millimetres in the column named Thickness. The only reason this is recoverable at all is the T column, which 347 rows leave blank.

Two more cases are worth naming because they have no answer at all. FT21B103M500 is one of 8 feed-through parts, and 22_Feed_Through_FT.pdf publishes a 7-inch reel dimension, a tape drawing, and no quantity table — so no pieces-per-reel figure exists for any FT part number in the documents we hold. 0306B225K4R0 is one of 3 parts at a case size that appears in no Walsin MLCC packaging table at all. For what the Hong Kong shelf does carry by case size, see MLCC pack quantity by case size.

What should you ask for before you schedule a line feed?

Three things, and the first is the one people skip. A reel quantity is a function of chip thickness, not of case size — which is why 1825B224K631 at 2.00 ± 0.20 mm reels at 1,000 on a 7-inch plastic reel while a thinner 1825 part would not.

  1. Send the full 12-character code and ask for the thickness symbol and the reel quantity together. We hold 28 datasheets, 451 pages. Ask for the one covering your part number and it will be in your inbox, not in a brochure.
  2. Ask which tape, not just which reel. On the General Purpose sheet the 0805 rows split between paper tape at 4,000 per 7-inch reel and plastic tape at 3,000, decided purely by thickness. SG18B102K500 at 0.80 ± 0.07 mm is a paper-tape part; TT31X225K100 sits on a sheet with no 13-inch column at all.
  3. Cross and check stock in one pass. Paste up to 500 part numbers or drop your Excel or CSV into the free cross-reference tool, then look at ready stock — 1,125 part numbers as at 23 September 2026, a dated snapshot and not a live feed. The whole line sits on the Walsin MLCC page.

The short version

Twelve of Walsin’s 24 MLCC series datasheets publish pieces per reel and twelve do not. The export’s Packing, SPQ and Thickness columns are empty on all 24,026 rows; the T column is the only working join and 347 rows leave it blank. Three sheets disagree on the 1808 row at 1.25 ± 0.10 mm, where ST publishes exactly half what General Purpose and SH publish. The 13-inch reel diameter carries three tolerances across the 24 sheets, and the only MLCC sheet that dimensions a 10-inch reel puts it 4 mm from where both resistor sheets put it. 1,079 of 1,118 General Purpose 0201 part numbers reel at 70,000 and 26 reel at 50,000, separated by a thickness tolerance that shares one symbol letter. Qualification stays with you, and so does the line schedule — our job is to make sure the reel quantity you plan against is one we read off a page.

Send us the part numbers you are scheduling and we will come back with the governing sheet, the thickness symbol, the tape type and the pieces per reel for each, and we will say plainly where no figure is published. And a question back: when your planner budgeted reels for a 0201 line, did it know that 26 of those 1,118 part numbers come 20,000 pieces short of the rest?

How many pieces are on a Walsin MLCC reel?

It depends on case size, chip thickness and tape type, and Walsin publishes the figure for only 12 of its 24 MLCC series. At 0201 on paper tape it is 15,000 per 7-inch reel and 50,000 or 70,000 per 13-inch reel. At 1210 on plastic tape it falls to 1,000 and 6,000.

Do Walsin’s parametric export files give a standard pack quantity?

No. The combined MLCC export carries a Packing column and an SPQ column and we counted the non-null values in both across all 24,026 rows. Each returns zero. The Thickness column is also empty on every row. Only the T column, filled on 23,679 rows, lets you reach the datasheet’s reel table.

What reel diameters does Walsin publish for MLCC?

Two nominals, with three tolerances on one of them. The 13-inch outside diameter is 330.0 plus or minus 2.0 millimetres on 15 series sheets, plus or minus 1.0 on 5 and plus or minus 0.50 on 1. The 7-inch is 178.0 plus or minus 2.0 on 17 and plus or minus 1.0 on 5.

Why do two Walsin datasheets give different reel quantities for the same case size?

We found two cases in the 1808 and 1812 rows. At 1808 and 1.25 plus or minus 0.10 millimetres the General Purpose and SH sheets both say 2,000 per 7-inch plastic reel while the ST sheet says 1,000. At 1812 and 1.60 plus or minus 0.20 millimetres the General Purpose sheet says 3,000 per 13-inch reel against 4,000 on the other two.

Which Walsin MLCC series publish no reel quantity at all?

Twelve of the 24: ultra-small 01005, middle and high voltage, surface coating, microwave RF, microwave RH, microwave UF, high Q and low ESR, both general safety series, feed-through, and both Mega Cap sheets. They publish tape and reel dimensions and a peel-force clause, and no pieces-per-reel figure.

Can I work out the reel quantity from the part number alone?

Not reliably. The reel table is keyed on chip thickness in millimetres, and the thickness symbol letter is not unique within a case size: 18 of the 64 case-size and symbol pairs in the export carry more than one thickness. At 0201, the letter L covers three different thicknesses and two different 13-inch reel quantities.

What is the smallest reel quantity Walsin publishes for an MLCC?

500 pieces, on a 7-inch plastic reel, and it appears only on the large-case rows. The General Purpose sheet shows 500 at 1812 for the 2.50 and 2.80 millimetre thicknesses, and the large-size, SH, ST and S2-H sheets print 500 or 0.5k on their largest-case rows. We found nothing smaller in the twelve quantity tables.
