Passive components for the United Arab Emirates from Hong Kong meet a localisation push: Make it in the Emirates 2026 announced about AED 180 billion of procurement opportunities. We counted our shelf against the Walsin general purpose X7R MLCC list in 0402 to 0805: 75 of 447 parts at 50 V are held, 17 of 348 at 25 V.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) parametric MLCC export, 24,026 rows and 23,601 distinct part numbers, and a dated stock list. This playbook is for an electronics maker or contract manufacturer in the UAE who wants to know what a Hong Kong source can and cannot put in writing. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. Each statement about the UAE names its source and the day we fetched it, 21 October 2026.
What does a UAE electronics maker need from a Hong Kong distributor?
A way to fill the long tail of a bill of materials without a new supplier for every line. The AGBI report on Make it in the Emirates 2026 says the programme opens about AED 180 billion of procurement over the next decade, aimed at localising more than 5,000 products. Each of those products carries passive components, and nothing in the report says where they come from.
We make no claim about any UAE maker’s bill of materials and name none. What we can offer is a Hong Kong ready-stock list, a free cross-reference tool and a straight answer on what is on the shelf. Our post on MLCC DC bias and voltage derating covers the voltage choice that comes first, and the MLCC range lists the families.
What did the 2026 UAE industrial announcements say about electronics?
Two sources mention it, and one pointedly does not. Make it in the Emirates ran in Abu Dhabi from 4 to 7 May 2026, and EDGE Group and ICAPE Group signed a memorandum of understanding there on joint development and local supply of key electronic subsystems; the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development page, last updated 13 October 2026, does not list electronics among its manufacturing sub-sectors. We read each page in full.
| Point | What the source says | Source date | What it means for a component buyer | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Procurement drive | About AED 180 billion (49 billion US dollars, as AGBI converts it) of procurement over the next decade, more than 5,000 products to localise | AGBI report on the 4 to 7 May 2026 event; the article prints no date | Context: the report does not mention electronics | Mismatch with any component-demand claim: no part is named |
| EDGE and ICAPE memorandum | Shared intent to explore joint development and local supply of printed circuit boards, turnkey solutions and electronic components for EDGE’s UAE manufacturing; no value, volume or deadline given | Business Wire release 7 May 2026 | A framework, not a purchase order; it names no passive component supplier | Mismatch: the release states no timetable or binding term |
| Abu Dhabi manufacturing page | Lists chemical, electrical, construction, machinery, food, transport, metal, pharmaceutical, plastics and wood sectors; a 2031 target year for Operation 300 Billion | Page last updated 13 October 2026 | Electronics is not listed; “electrical” is the closest entry | Match for scope of heavy industry; mismatch for electronics |
Our view, labelled as ours: none of these sources says a UAE maker is short of any part. The memorandum is the only one that names components, and it describes an intention to explore. If the point is a regulatory or procurement rule, confirm with your compliance team.
How deep is our general purpose X7R shelf by voltage?
Deepest at 50 V, thin below it. We parsed all 24,026 rows of the Walsin MLCC export and filtered the general purpose series, X7R, in 0402, 0603 and 0805: 1,701 distinct parts. Our stock list as at 23 September 2026 holds 144 of them. By rated voltage the shelf holds 75 of 447 at 50 V (16.8%), 23 of 334 at 16 V (6.9%) and 17 of 348 at 25 V (4.9%).
A 50 V part is 3.4 times more likely to be on the shelf than a 25 V one. We have not seen this counted anywhere. A localised subsystem built on logic rails of 16 V or 25 V meets the thin side of the shelf, which is our reading of the table, not a statement about any UAE design.
| Case size, X7R general purpose | 16 V listed / on shelf | 25 V listed / on shelf | 50 V listed / on shelf | Match / mismatch with a 25 V rail |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0402 | 104 / 8 | 95 / 4 | 127 / 24 | Mismatch: 4 of 95 held at 25 V |
| 0603 | 127 / 9 | 132 / 8 | 161 / 26 | Mismatch: 8 of 132 held at 25 V |
| 0805 | 103 / 6 | 121 / 5 | 159 / 25 | Mismatch: 5 of 121 held at 25 V |
The stock list is a dated snapshot and moves; our ready-stock page shows the Hong Kong list as it stands.
Which Walsin 100 nF 0603 parts cross, and where do they differ?
At 100 nF the shelf is better than the average. In the 0603 X7R general purpose series the export lists 15 parts at 100 nF; the five plus or minus 10% parts at 10, 16, 25, 50 and 100 V are all on our shelf, and every plus or minus 5% part is not. The rated voltage is the field that changes the part number.
| Walsin part | Fields | On shelf, 23 Sept 2026 | Your incumbent part | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
0603B104K250 |
0603, X7R, 100 nF, 25 V, plus or minus 10% | Yes | ___ | Match on size, value, voltage, tolerance with a 25 V incumbent |
0603B104K160 |
0603, X7R, 100 nF, 16 V, plus or minus 10% | Yes | ___ | Mismatch if your rail needs 25 V; voltage differs |
0603B104K500 |
0603, X7R, 100 nF, 50 V, plus or minus 10% | Yes | ___ | Match on value; voltage is higher, so check dimensions |
0603B104M250 |
0603, X7R, 100 nF, 25 V, plus or minus 20% | No | ___ | Mismatch on availability; tolerance wider |
0603B104J250 |
0603, X7R, 100 nF, 25 V, plus or minus 5% | No | ___ | Mismatch on availability; tolerance tighter |
0402B104K250 |
0402, X7R, 100 nF, 25 V, plus or minus 10% | Yes | ___ | Mismatch on case size with any 0603 layout |
Fill the incumbent column yourself, field by field. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit. A Match is a statement about the fields shown and nothing more. Our post on how to cross-reference an MLCC shows the method, and our DC bias guide explains why capacitance at the working voltage is the number to check.
What will we not tell you about UAE import?
Anything operational. We state no duty rate, tariff code, free-zone treatment, customs procedure, licence requirement, transit time, freight cost or carrier for the UAE, and we hold no office, entity or stock there. Our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. Your forwarder, customs broker and compliance team own that side, and we give no legal advice. We hold no ISO 9001 certificate and make no qualification claim.
How Venatech helps
Paste your incumbent into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Load a whole BOM to run every line, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026 and is never live-synced.
Worked example from our own export: the 1,701-part filter above is one query, and the 144 stocked lines are the overlap with our list. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We serve from Hong Kong in small lots, we help with cross-referencing, and quotes are requested through the site. The 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, we hold are sent on request.
The short version
The UAE announced about AED 180 billion of localisation procurement in May 2026 and its sources name no passive component. The useful number for a buyer is ours: in general purpose X7R at 0402 to 0805, the shelf holds 16.8% of the 50 V parts and 4.9% of the 25 V parts. Cross the lines you buy before you assume the rest.
Send us the ten MLCC lines on your UAE bill of materials that sit on a 16 V or 25 V rail, and we will return the Walsin parts with the differences stated. If localisation means a new supplier for every line, who is checking the voltage field?
