Home appliance electronics for Bangladesh need a safety capacitor code that pastes cleanly into a bill of materials. We parsed the Walsin Technology (Walsin) S2 safety capacitor export: all 173 codes are 12 characters long, with no termination or packaging letter on any. One of the 3 safety codes on our shelf is 14 characters and matches none of them.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin MLCC export (00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx) of 24,026 rows (23,601 distinct part numbers), the S2 approval sheet dated April 2026 and a stock list dated 23 September 2026. This post is for an engineer or buyer at a Bangladeshi refrigerator, air conditioner or contract electronics maker who has a mains-side X1/Y2 line to source. Every part number is real, every count is ours, and every news statement names its source and the day we fetched it, 23 October 2026.
What did Bangladesh propose for refrigerator and air conditioner makers in 2026?
Two proposals pulled in opposite directions. The Financial Express reported on 8 May 2026 that the government was considering ending concessional import duty, now 5 to 15 percent, on raw materials for refrigerators and air conditioners, including printed circuit boards and PCB inverters, and Prothom Alo reported on 10 June 2026 an expected halving of local-production VAT on those appliances from 15 percent to 7.5 percent.
The Financial Express added that VAT on the two appliances had been doubled from 7.5 percent to 15 percent in the previous budget, that industry sources feared a price rise of up to 10 percent, and that local makers hold nearly 95 percent of a refrigerator market of between 3,300,000 and 3,500,000 units a year. A tax-tracking site, Lookuptax, summarises a standalone order effective 11 June 2026 and valid to 30 June 2030 that caps VAT at 7.5 percent for local production of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and compressors, exempts VAT on their raw materials and spare parts, and conditions the relief on a minimum 30 percent value addition. We have not read the order itself.
Our view, labelled as ours: if the rules reward local value addition, a local maker or contract assembler wants a second source for each mains-side part identified early, in small lots. We have no relationship with any Bangladeshi appliance maker.
How long are Walsin S2 safety capacitor codes, and which parts cross a 2.2 nF X1/Y2 mains line?
Twelve characters, every time, in the export. We parsed all 173 S2 rows (165 distinct part numbers, 38 capacitance values, 4 sizes): all 173 codes are 12 characters, 166 rows leave the Termination column empty and 7 hold a plus or minus 10 percent tolerance there by mistake, so 0 rows carry a termination or packaging letter. We have not seen this counted anywhere.
The April 2026 S2 approval sheet we hold shows why that matters. Its ordering key ends with a termination letter (E and Z are soft termination variants, K is non-coating) and a packaging letter (T is a 7-inch reel, G a 13-inch reel). The shelf code S252B471K502ZT is therefore the export stem S252B471K502 plus those two letters. A bill of materials that carries the 14-character form will not match the 12-character export row, which is the failure our post on why Walsin part numbers do not paste into your BOM describes.
Take a brief of X1/Y2, X7R, 2.2 nF, plus or minus 10 percent, 2211. The export’s Rated Voltage column reads 5000 Vdc on every S2 row; that is the impulse voltage, and the sheet gives the working ratings as X1 310 Vac and Y2 250 Vac with 1500 Vdc on UL and TUV listings and 250 Vac on the CQC listing. Our post on X1/Y1 versus X1/Y2 safety capacitors covers the classes.

Certificate references on the sheet are TUV R50381780, UL file E182369 and CQC20001280137 for S2; the sheet lists the standards jointly, and we do not map one standard to one certificate. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
What does a Hong Kong shelf hold for an appliance mains filter?
Three safety lines, one matching the brief. Our stock list as at 23 September 2026 holds 1,125 distinct codes, 3 of them safety capacitors: S242B102K502 (1808, 1 nF), S252B222K502 (2211, 2.2 nF) and S252B471K502ZT (2211, 470 pF). That is 3 lines against 165 distinct S2 part numbers and 2 of the 4 sizes.
The ready stock list is a dated snapshot and is never live-synced. The other 162 S2 part numbers, including the 1812 and 2220 sizes, are not on it; a quote is requested through the site. Our post on Walsin passive components in Hong Kong stock explains how to read the list, and the MLCC range lists the families. We offer lot and date-code traceability and a certificate of conformity per shipment on request.
What will we not tell you about appliance safety approval?
Anything about whether your appliance is approved. We make no claim that any Walsin part meets a Bangladeshi, IEC or other appliance standard in your circuit, we hold no ISO 9001 certificate, and none of the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold mentions Bangladesh or a refrigerator or air conditioner.
We hold no office, entity or stock in Bangladesh; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We give no legal, customs, tax or conformity advice. Confirm with your compliance team. Qualification stays with you.
How Venatech helps: what can you do with a mains-side line today?
Paste your incumbent into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Load the appliance bill of materials into the BOM check, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026.
Worked example from our own export: the 2.2 nF, plus or minus 10 percent filter above returned 2 S2 part numbers, one in 2211 and one in 2220, and our shelf holds the 2211 one. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We serve from Hong Kong in small lots, and a quote is requested through the site. The S2 approval sheet is sent on request.
The short version
For a Bangladeshi appliance maker, the safety capacitor question is partly a data-hygiene question: 173 of 173 export codes are 12 characters, one shelf code carries a 2-letter tail, and only 1 of our 3 safety lines matches a 2.2 nF, 2211 brief.
Send us the mains-side lines of one appliance BOM and we will return the Walsin candidates with the differences stated. If your BOM carries the suffixed form of a part number, which of your systems strips it first?

Frequently asked questions
What did the Financial Express report on appliance raw material duty in May 2026?
On 8 May 2026 it reported that the government was considering ending concessional import duty, now 5 to 15 percent, on raw materials for refrigerators and air conditioners, including printed circuit boards. It cited finance ministry sources. The outcome is not confirmed in the sources we fetched.
Did Bangladesh cut VAT on locally made refrigerators and air conditioners?
Prothom Alo reported on 10 June 2026 an expected halving from 15 percent to 7.5 percent. A secondary summary describes an order effective 11 June 2026 with a 30 percent value addition condition. We have not read the order; confirm with your tax team.
How long are Walsin S2 safety capacitor part numbers in the export?
We parsed all 173 S2 rows. Every code is 12 characters, and none carries a termination or packaging letter. The April 2026 approval sheet adds those letters to the ordering key, so a 14-character code will not match an export row.
Which Walsin part crosses a 2211, 2.2 nF, plus or minus 10 percent X1/Y2 brief?
S252B222K502 matches on size, dielectric, value, tolerance and class, and is on our shelf as at 23 September 2026. The 2220 form S255B222K502 differs in body size. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
What does the S2 export column Rated Voltage show?
It shows 5000 Vdc or 6000 Vdc, which is the impulse voltage. The April 2026 sheet gives working ratings of X1 310 Vac and Y2 250 Vac with 1500 Vdc on UL and TUV listings. Read the sheet for the part you buy.
Can Venatech confirm appliance approval or hold stock in Bangladesh?
No. We make no claim that a part meets any appliance standard in your circuit, we hold no ISO 9001 certificate, and we hold no office, entity or stock in Bangladesh. We give no legal, customs or tax advice. Confirm with your compliance team.
