Sourcing passive components for Poland from Hong Kong, for an EMS line, turns on reel counts as much as on values. In the Walsin stock snapshot of 23 September 2026, MLCC and chip resistors share a reel count on 2 of 5 case sizes and differ on the other 3.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) parametric exports and a stock snapshot dated 23 September 2026 that states a standard pack quantity (SPQ) on 501 of 1,125 lines. This post is written from those two files for a purchasing or process engineer at a Polish contract manufacturer or industrial OEM. Every part number is real. We state no freight terms, transit times or duty treatment, because we have none to prove here.
How does a Polish EMS buyer source passive components from Hong Kong?
By crossing the BOM first, then planning reels, then asking for documents. Paste the BOM into the cross-reference tool, read the match and mismatch for each line, check the reel count against your feeder plan, and request the datasheet for each exact part number. We opened the 23 September 2026 snapshot and matched its codes to the exports to see what a reel plan can rely on.
Our free cross-reference tool takes up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file, decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers, and lists Walsin parts with the differences stated. The BOM page is the entry point for a whole list. A 2024 report from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), prepared with the Łukasiewicz Research Network, describes the country’s professional electronics sector, and says its exports grew over the past decade (parp.gov.pl, read 20 October 2026). It gives no component-level data, which is why the rest of this post is our own count.
Do MLCC and chip resistors of the same case size share a reel count?
On 2 of 5 case sizes, yes. At 0201 and 0402 the reel counts agree, at 15,000 and 10,000. At 0603, 0805 and 1206 they do not. We took every stock line that states an SPQ and joined it to the MLCC and chip resistor exports on the part number. That gave 183 resistor lines and 9 to 71 MLCC lines per size.
| Case size | Chip resistor SPQ (lines) | MLCC SPQ (lines) | Example resistor / MLCC | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0201 | 15,000 (4) | 15,000 (9) | WR02X1002FAL / 0201B103K100 |
Match |
| 0402 | 10,000 (55) | 10,000 (63) | WF04H1202DTL / 0402B102K500 |
Match |
| 0603 | 5,000 (78) | 4,000 (71) | WR06X1000FTL / 0603B101K500 |
Mismatch — 1,000 per reel |
| 0805 | 5,000 (23) | 4,000 (25), 3,000 (24) | WR08W2R70FTL / 0805B104K500 |
Mismatch — MLCC splits in two |
| 1206 | 5,000 (22) | 4,000 (7), 3,000 (8), 2,000 (6) | MF12E1R00FTL / 1206B104K500 |
Mismatch — MLCC splits in three |
A feeder or a reel-tracking sheet keyed on case size alone is right at 0201 and 0402 and wrong at the three sizes where most of a typical BOM sits. Our post on passive component case sizes explains the naming that the first column relies on.
What sets the reel count of an 0805 MLCC?
Thickness, with two exceptions. Of 49 stock-listed 0805 MLCC lines, the 6 at 0.60 mm and 19 of 21 at 0.80 mm run 4,000 per reel, and all 22 at 1.25 mm run 3,000. We joined each line to the export’s thickness column and counted.
| Thickness (mm) | Lines | 4,000 per reel | 3,000 per reel | Example part | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.60 plus or minus 0.10 | 6 | 6 | 0 | 0805B102K500 |
Match to the rule |
| 0.80 plus or minus 0.10 | 21 | 19 | 2 | 0805B104K500 |
Mismatch — 0805B103K201 and 0805N103J500 run 3,000 |
| 1.25 plus or minus 0.10 or 0.20 | 22 | 0 | 22 | 0805B105K100 |
Match to the rule |
We have not seen this counted anywhere: a rule of “thicker means fewer per reel” holds on 47 of 49 lines and fails on two, both 10 nF parts, one rated 200 V X7R and one 50 V NP0. The rule is ours, drawn from the stock file. Walsin prints no reel-count key in any document we hold, and a person who plans on the rule will mis-plan two reels in 49.
Does a stock line always hold whole reels?
In this snapshot, yes. Of the 501 lines that state an SPQ, all 501 show a total available that is a whole multiple of it, and none holds less than one reel. We divided the total available by the SPQ on every line and found no remainder.
The other half of the picture is a gap. A date code appears on 683 of 1,125 lines and an SPQ on 501, and only 59 lines state both. A line therefore tells you one of the two, rarely both, so ask for the date code of the lot you will receive. Our post on how to check Walsin stock and reserve it covers the request. Stock is a snapshot as at 23 September 2026 and it moves, so ready stock shows the lines and the enquiry form confirms them.
What do RoHS and REACH mean for a Polish contract manufacturer?
For an EMS they are per-part-number declarations that the customer’s file asks for. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and none contains a REACH statement, an SVHC list, a Declaration of Conformity or an IMDS submission. The 24 MLCC sheets say only “Halogen Free & RoHS Compliance” on page one, which is a claim, not a declaration.
Our post on what authorised distributor means and how to verify one shows how to confirm us with Walsin. We also have a post on varistor selection for Poland for the appliance side, and the MLCC range lists the families.
What should a Polish EMS buyer send to get a crossed BOM?
The manufacturer part number, the case size, the reel count you plan on, and the grade. Four columns are enough to return the Walsin parts with differences stated and the reel count beside each. Qualification stays with you: confirm against Walsin’s datasheet and qualify in your own process.
The short version
Case size does not fix a reel count across lines. Walsin MLCC and chip resistors agree at 0201 and 0402 and differ at 0603, 0805 and 1206. At 0805 the MLCC splits 4,000 against 3,000 by thickness on 47 of 49 lines. All 501 stock lines with an SPQ hold whole reels, and only 59 also state a date code.
Send us the BOM of your next SMT job and we will return the Walsin parts with the reel count beside each, from the free cross-reference tool or by return. Which of your feeder setups assumes one reel count per case size?
Frequently asked questions
Can a Polish EMS source Walsin passive components from Hong Kong?
Yes. Venatech is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Send the BOM and we return Walsin parts with differences stated. We give no freight, transit or duty terms in this post, so ask for them in the quotation.
Do 0603 MLCC and 0603 chip resistors come on the same reel count?
Not in the 23 September 2026 snapshot. The 71 MLCC lines state 4,000 per reel and the 78 resistor lines state 5,000. Plan feeders by line, not by case size, and confirm against the order.
What reel count do Walsin 0805 MLCC use?
Either 4,000 or 3,000. Of 49 listed lines, 25 state 4,000 and 24 state 3,000. Thickness predicts it on 47 lines: 0.60 and 0.80 mm run 4,000, 1.25 mm runs 3,000. Two 0.80 mm parts run 3,000.
Does Venatech hold REACH documents for Walsin parts?
Not in the documents we hold. None of our 451 datasheet pages covers REACH, SVHC or a Declaration of Conformity. They are on our request list, and we state no status that Walsin has not given us.
Is the date code stated on every stock line?
No. 683 of 1,125 lines state a date code and 501 state an SPQ. Only 59 state both. Ask for the date code of the lot you will receive, along with the certificate of conformity per shipment.
Does the cross-reference tool handle a whole BOM?
Yes, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file. It decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers and matches against 800,000+ crossable Walsin parts. The result is a starting point for your qualification.
