A TDK C-series MLCC cross-reference to Walsin Technology (Walsin) starts with the part number, and only 5 of its 9 fields reappear in a Walsin number. For a TDK 2.2 uF, X5R, 25 V, 0603 brief we found 1 exact Walsin candidate, 0603X225K250, and it is not on our shelf. Two TDK size codes also name a different Walsin body.
Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin MLCC export of 24,026 rows, which is 23,601 distinct part numbers, and a stock list dated 23 September 2026. This post is for a procurement or design engineer at a Singapore electronics maker whose bill of materials names a TDK C-series capacitor and who needs a second source to review. Every Walsin part number below is real and every count is ours. News and datasheet statements name their source and the day we read it, 23 October 2026.
What is moving in Singapore electronics manufacturing that makes a second source a live question?
The electronics cluster is growing fast. The Singapore Economic Development Board reported on 27 July 2026 that manufacturing output rose 7.2% year on year in June 2026 and that electronics grew 21.3%, led by infocomms and consumer electronics and by semiconductors. Its release puts semiconductors at 21.1%, computer peripherals and data storage at 8.2%, and the segment called other electronic modules and components at 5.2%.
We draw one conclusion, and it is ours: a Singapore line that is growing is a line that gets asked for a second source on its commodity capacitors. We have no information on any maker’s TDK volumes or supply position, and we say nothing about TDK’s availability.
How do you read a TDK C-series part number, field by field?
In nine fields. TDK’s general commercial catalogue, document code 20260831 and dated August 2026, builds a C-series number from nine items: series, dimensions code, temperature characteristic, rated voltage, capacitance, tolerance, nominal thickness, packaging style and a special reserved code. Take C1608X5R1E225K080AB, a number that TDK’s own catalogue prints.
| TDK field | In C1608X5R1E225K080AB |
Walsin field | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series | C |
none in the number | Mismatch: Walsin has no series letter in a general purpose number |
| Dimensions code | 1608 (1.6 x 0.8 mm) |
0603 |
Match on body, but the digits differ |
| Temperature characteristic | X5R |
X |
Match: one letter in the Walsin number |
| Rated voltage | 1E (25 V) |
250 |
Match on 25 V, different code |
| Nominal capacitance | 225 (2.2 uF) |
225 |
Match: same three-digit code |
| Capacitance tolerance | K (10%) |
K |
Match |
| Nominal thickness | 080 (0.80 mm) |
none in the number | Mismatch: Walsin carries thickness only as an export column |
| Packaging style | A, B or K |
none in the export number | Mismatch: not a field of the export number |
| Special reserved code | A, B, C or N |
none | Mismatch: TDK internal code |
We counted five of nine TDK fields that reappear in the Walsin number 0603X225K250 (size, dielectric letter, capacitance, tolerance, voltage) and four that do not (series, thickness, packaging, reserved code). The unmatched four are the ones a buyer cannot paste. Thickness is the one that matters on a board with a height limit, and our post on how to read a Walsin MLCC part number shows where Walsin keeps it.
Which two TDK size codes point at the wrong Walsin body?
The codes 0402 and 0603. TDK’s catalogue lists nine dimensions codes (0402, 0603, 1005, 1608, 2012, 3216, 3225, 4532, 5750), and we checked each against the Size column of the Walsin export: exactly 2 of the 9, 0402 and 0603, are also Walsin size names, and in both cases they name a larger body.
TDK 0402 is the 0.4 x 0.2 mm body, EIA 01005, which Walsin writes 01R5. TDK 0603 is 0.6 x 0.3 mm, EIA 0201. Walsin 0402 and 0603 are the 1.0 x 0.5 mm and 1.6 x 0.8 mm bodies. Our post on imperial and metric case sizes gives the full table.
| TDK dimensions code | TDK body (EIA) | Same string in Walsin Size column | Distinct Walsin part numbers under that string | Match / mismatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0402 | 01005 (0.4 x 0.2 mm) | 0402 is a larger body | 3,979 under 0402; 608 under 01R5 |
Mismatch if pasted: wrong body |
| 0603 | 0201 (0.6 x 0.3 mm) | 0603 is a larger body | 4,721 under 0603; 2,544 under 0201 |
Mismatch if pasted: wrong body |
| 1608 | 0603 (1.6 x 0.8 mm) | no such Walsin size name | 4,721 under 0603 |
Match after translation |
| 1005 | 0402 (1.0 x 0.5 mm) | no such Walsin size name | 3,979 under 0402 |
Match after translation |
A TDK buyer who filters a Walsin list for “0603” because the incumbent reads C0603 gets 4,721 parts that are about twice the length of the one they wanted. We have not seen this collision counted anywhere. It is a size-name problem, not a data error on either side.
Which Walsin parts answer a TDK 2.2 uF, X5R, 25 V, 0603 brief?
One answers on all five shared fields. In the Walsin export, 2.2 uF at 25 V in the 0603 body returns 7 rows and 5 distinct part numbers across three dielectrics: X5R, X6S and X7S. Only 0603X225K250 is X5R at plus or minus 10%. The export lists that number and its plus or minus 20% sibling twice each, which is why the row count is higher than the part count.
| Walsin part | Dielectric, tolerance | On shelf 23 Sep 2026 | Match / mismatch with C1608X5R1E225K080AB |
Your incumbent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
0603X225K250 |
X5R, plus or minus 10% | No | Match on size, dielectric, capacitance, tolerance, voltage. Mismatch on thickness band: Walsin prints 0.80 +0.15/-0.10 mm | C1608X5R1E225K080AB is not in the export |
0603X225M250 |
X5R, plus or minus 20% | No | Mismatch: looser tolerance | |
0603S225K250 |
X6S, plus or minus 10% | No | Mismatch: different dielectric; thickness printed 0.80 plus or minus 0.20 mm | |
0603A225K250 |
X7S, plus or minus 10% | No | Mismatch: different dielectric; thickness printed 0.80 plus or minus 0.20 mm |
On the thickness line: TDK’s catalogue prints 0.80 plus or minus 0.10 mm for that number, which tops out at 0.90 mm, while the Walsin export for 0603X225K250 prints +0.15/-0.10, which tops out at 0.95 mm. That 0.05 mm matters only if your board clearance is that tight, and it is a field to check, not a reason to reject the part.
What does the Hong Kong shelf hold next to that brief?
Not the 2.2 uF part, but its 1 uF neighbour. Our stock list as at 23 September 2026 matches 155 distinct 0603 MLCC part numbers to the export, and none of the four 2.2 uF, 25 V candidates is among them; both 0603X105K250 (X5R) and 0603B105K250 (X7R), at 1 uF, 25 V and plus or minus 10%, are.
If the incumbent is TDK’s 1 uF line, C1608X5R1E105K080AC, also printed in the TDK catalogue and not in the export, then 0603X105K250 matches on size, dielectric, capacitance, tolerance and voltage, with the same thickness-band difference as above. 0603B105K250 is X7R, a different dielectric, so treat it as a candidate to review, not a drop-in. Our post on NP0, X7R and X5R dielectrics explains the trade. Stock moves; the ready stock list is a dated snapshot and is never live-synced. We hold lot and date-code traceability, a certificate of conformity per shipment on request, and original sealed Walsin packaging.
What will we not tell you about a TDK part?
Whether it is available, constrained or changing. We hold no TDK affected-part list, we make no statement about any TDK part number, and we hold no price or lead-time information on it. A cross-reference is a field comparison, and the qualification decision stays with you.
Our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation, and the stock list in this post is a Hong Kong snapshot. We give no legal, customs or compliance advice; confirm with your compliance team.
How Venatech helps
Paste your TDK number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read the Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Load a whole BOM, up to 500 part numbers or an Excel or CSV file, to run every line at once. The ready-stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026.
Worked example from our own export: the TDK 2.2 uF brief above returned 7 rows and 5 distinct part numbers, and the shelf covers none of them, while the 1 uF neighbour is covered twice. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We serve from Hong Kong in small lots, cross-reference your lines on request, and a quote is requested through the site. See our MLCC range for the families.
The short version
For a Singapore buyer holding a TDK C-series number, five of nine fields carry into a Walsin number, two size codes (0402 and 0603) name a bigger Walsin body, and a 2.2 uF X5R 25 V 0603 brief has one exact candidate that is not on the shelf. The 1 uF neighbour is.
Paste one TDK line from your BOM into the cross-reference tool, or send the file to /bom/, and we will return the Walsin candidates with the differences stated. Qualification stays with you; which TDK line would you like us to cross first?

Frequently asked questions
How many fields of a TDK C-series part number appear in a Walsin part number?
Five of nine: size, temperature characteristic, capacitance, tolerance and rated voltage. The series letter, nominal thickness, packaging style and the special reserved code have no counterpart in the Walsin number. Walsin carries thickness as a separate export column. Confirm both datasheets.
Which TDK size codes can be mistaken for Walsin sizes?
TDK 0402 and 0603, which are the 01005 and 0201 bodies. Walsin 0402 and 0603 are larger bodies of 1.0 x 0.5 mm and 1.6 x 0.8 mm. Of TDK’s nine dimensions codes, exactly those two collide with a Walsin size name, by our count against the export.
Which Walsin part crosses a TDK 2.2 uF, X5R, 25 V, 0603 capacitor?
0603X225K250 matches on size, dielectric, capacitance, tolerance and voltage, with a thickness band that tops out at 0.95 mm against 0.90 mm in TDK’s catalogue. It is not on our shelf as at 23 September 2026. Confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
Is there a Walsin part on the shelf near that brief?
Yes at 1 uF: 0603X105K250 (X5R) and 0603B105K250 (X7R), both 25 V and plus or minus 10%, are on our stock list as at 23 September 2026. The 2.2 uF candidates are not. The list is a dated snapshot, not live stock, so ask us for the current position.
Do you say anything about TDK availability or lead times?
No. We hold no TDK affected-part list and make no statement about any TDK part number. We hold no price or lead-time guarantee on any part. A cross-reference compares fields; the qualification decision and the approval of any substitute stay with you and your compliance team.
How do I start a TDK cross-reference with Venatech?
Paste the TDK number into the free cross-reference tool, or upload a BOM of up to 500 lines. You see Walsin candidates with each field marked match or mismatch. Request a quote through the site; we serve from Hong Kong in small lots.
