Qatar Free-Zone Manufacturers and the MLCC Grid: 117 of 216 Case-Size and Voltage Cells in Walsin’s Export Hold a Part, 73 Hold a Line on the Hong Kong Shelf, and 2220 Has Only 3 Stocked Rungs of 14

A Qatar buyer picking an MLCC for a new board is choosing a cell in a grid, and most cells are empty. We laid nine case sizes against 24 voltage rungs in Walsin’s MLCC export: 117 of 216 cells hold a part, and only 73 of those hold a line on our Hong Kong shelf.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) MLCC parametric export (00_ALL_MLCC_parts_combined.xlsx): 24,026 rows, 23,601 distinct part numbers. This post is for a procurement or design engineer at a manufacturer or contract assembler in Qatar, including a company set up in a free zone, who is fixing the capacitor ratings of a new board. Every Walsin part number below is real and every count is ours. We read every news item on 23 October 2026.

What did the Qatar Free Zones Authority say on 20 October 2026, and why would a buyer care?

It pitched Qatar as a place to set up operations. Gulf Times, citing the Qatar News Agency on 21 October 2026, reported that the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) chief executive told the UK-GCC Strategic Dialogue in London on 20 October 2026 that QFZ offers a platform to establish operations and reach regional markets, and that more than 40 British companies are registered in QFZ.

The report says QFZ plans partnerships in emerging technologies, biomedical sciences, logistics and advanced manufacturing, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. It gives no figure for electronics output and names no component or supplier.

Our view, labelled as ours: a board that has just been designed has rungs fixed in its schematic, and the cheapest time to learn that a rung is empty is before the layout freezes. A grid shows that in one glance.

How many case-size and voltage cells in Walsin’s MLCC export hold a part?

117 of 216. We parsed the Size and Rated Voltage fields of 22,413 of the 23,601 distinct MLCC part numbers, those in the nine common case sizes from 0201 to 2220, and laid them against 24 voltage rungs from 4 V to 6000 V: 117 cells hold at least one part, 99 are empty, and 73 of the 117 hold a line on our 23 September 2026 list.

The other 1,188 parts sit in seven further size names, 01R5, 1111, 2225, 1825, 0505, 2211 and 0306, or in one row whose size field is damaged. The 44 occupied cells with nothing on the shelf are where a quote becomes a factory order. We have not seen this grid counted anywhere, and it answers a question the cross-reference tool answers only one part number at a time: before you pick a rating, does anything exist there?

Which case sizes run out of voltage first?

The small ones, by a long way. We counted occupied rungs per case size: 0201 holds parts at 7 of the 24 rungs and tops out at 100 V, 0402 and 0603 hold 10 each and stop at 250 V, and 0805 stops at 1000 V, while 1808, 1812 and 2220 reach 5000 V.

Case size Walsin parts Occupied rungs of 24 Rungs with a stocked line Highest rung Match / mismatch (a line that needs more than the highest rung)
0201 2,544 7 6 100 V Mismatch above 100 V: go up a size
0402 3,979 10 6 250 V Mismatch above 250 V
0603 4,721 10 8 250 V Mismatch above 250 V
0805 4,780 13 11 1000 V Mismatch above 1000 V
1206 3,348 18 14 2500 V Mismatch above 2500 V
1210 1,323 18 11 2000 V Mismatch above 2000 V
1808 392 9 5 5000 V Match to 5000 V; lowest rung is 500 V
1812 1,005 18 9 5000 V Match to 5000 V
2220 321 14 3 5000 V Match to 5000 V, but 3 stocked rungs

The 1808 row hides a second wall: its lowest rung is 500 V, so a low-voltage 1808 line has no Walsin part at all. Our post on MLCC DC bias and voltage derating explains why you choose the rung before the capacitance.

What does a bill-of-materials line find in five real cells?

Four lines find a stocked part and one finds nothing. We took five illustrative bill-of-materials cells and read what the export and the 23 September 2026 list hold: 0805 at 630 V has 268 parts and 6 stocked lines, 1812 at 2000 V has 100 parts and 6, 2220 at 100 V has 32 parts and 1, 0603 at 250 V has 524 parts and 15, and 0201 at 200 V has none.

The lines are ours, written to show the method, not taken from any customer. A stocked part exists only at the capacitance it carries, so a match on case size and rung is not yet a match on the line.

Illustrative BOM line Grid cell Parts in cell Stocked lines Stocked example, real part Match / mismatch
5.6 nF, X7R, ±10%, 630 V 0805 at 630 V 268 6 0805B562K631 (Middle to High Voltage, T 1.25 ± 0.10 mm) Match on all fields we can see
2.7 nF, X7R, ±10%, 2 kV 1812 at 2000 V 100 6 1812B272K202 Match on all fields we can see
470 nF, X7R, ±10%, 100 V 2220 at 100 V 32 1 2220B474K101 (Big sizes, T 2.00 ± 0.20 mm) Match; only 1 stocked line in the cell, so any other value is a factory order
4.3 pF, C0G, ±0.05 pF, 250 V 0603 at 250 V 524 15 RF18N4R3A251 (Microwave series) Match on fields; Q is not in the export, so unknown
100 pF, C0G, ±5%, 200 V 0201 at 200 V 0 0 none Mismatch: no part; 0603 at 200 V holds 184 parts and 3 stocked lines

The empty 0201 row is the useful one. An engineer who needs 200 V in a tiny body finds that 0402 at 200 V holds 196 parts, none stocked, and 0603 holds 184 with 3 stocked. Either move changes the footprint, which is a layout decision for you, not for us. Our post on chip resistor and capacitor case sizes in imperial and metric shows how the size names map.

Which occupied cells have nothing on the Hong Kong shelf?

44 of 117, and they cluster in the big sizes. We subtracted stocked rungs from occupied rungs per size: 2220 has 11 occupied cells with nothing on the shelf, 1812 has 9, 1210 has 7, and 0201 has 1. The 2220 row is the thinnest: 14 occupied rungs, 3 stocked.

The full count by size is 0201: 1, 0402: 4, 0603: 2, 0805: 2, 1206: 4, 1210: 7, 1808: 4, 1812: 9 and 2220: 11. The stock list is a dated snapshot of 1,125 part numbers and moves; we quote part-number counts, never piece counts. The ready stock page shows what is held in Hong Kong. We hold no datasheet that names Qatar or any free zone, so nothing here is a statement about local rules or approvals. Confirm those with your compliance team.

How can Venatech help a Qatar buyer who is building a board?

By reading the grid for your lines before the layout freezes, and naming a Walsin candidate with each difference stated. Venatech Limited is an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong. Walsin is our only authorised line, and the other lines we supply are Stackpole and Viking.

  • Cross-reference. Paste the incumbent part number into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts, and read each Walsin candidate with match and mismatch stated field by field.
  • BOM check. Upload the bill of materials to /bom/ and have each line checked against the same engine, so an empty cell shows up before the order does.
  • Ready stock. The ready stock list is a Hong Kong snapshot dated 23 September 2026, never live-synced.
  • Service. Hong Kong-based, small lots, cross-referencing help, and a quote requested through the site. Our address is Unit 207, 2/F, Sun Ling Plaza, 30 On Kui Street, Fanling, N.T., Hong Kong, telephone (852) 2628 4777.

A worked example from our own export: a 5.6 nF, 630 V, X7R line in 0805 lands in a cell with 268 parts and maps to the stocked 0805B562K631, while a 100 pF, 200 V line in 0201 lands in an empty cell. Our MLCC range lists the families. We hold no ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 certificate for Venatech, so raise any supplier-approval questionnaire with us early. Qualify in your own circuit.

The short version

Nine case sizes against 24 voltage rungs make 216 cells, and Walsin’s export fills 117 of them. Our shelf covers 73, and the 2220 case covers 3 of its 14 rungs. QFZ’s 20 October 2026 pitch for advanced manufacturing, as Gulf Times reported on 21 October 2026, is the setting for a new bill of materials, not evidence about any supply line.

Send us one board’s capacitor list and we will place each line in its cell, name the Walsin candidate, and tell you which cells are empty. Which rung on your schematic has no part behind it?

How many MLCC voltage and case-size combinations does Walsin actually offer?

Across nine common case sizes and 24 voltage rungs, 117 of 216 cells hold at least one part in Walsin’s export, and 99 are empty. We parsed 22,413 of the 23,601 distinct part numbers to get that. Check your cell before you fix a rating.

What is the highest voltage a 0603 Walsin capacitor offers?

250 V. We counted occupied rungs per case size: 0603 holds parts at 10 rungs and stops at 250 V, and 0402 does the same. 0201 stops at 100 V, 0805 at 1000 V and 1206 at 2500 V. Above those, go up a size or ask us.

Does Walsin make a low-voltage 1808 capacitor?

Not in the export. The lowest 1808 rung is 500 V, and the case holds parts at 9 rungs up to 5000 V. A low-voltage line in that body has no Walsin part, so the footprint would have to change. Qualification stays with you.

How many of those cells can you supply from Hong Kong stock?

73 of the 117 occupied cells hold a line on our list as at 23 September 2026. The other 44 are factory orders. The list is a dated snapshot of 1,125 part numbers, not a live feed. The ready stock page shows what is held now.

Does the QFZ report say that free-zone factories buy Walsin parts?

No. Gulf Times reported on 21 October 2026 that QFZ pitched itself to UK-GCC investors and plans partnerships including advanced manufacturing. The report names no component or supplier. We use it only as the setting for a new bill of materials.

Can you cross a part number from another maker into this grid?

Yes. Paste the incumbent number into the cross-reference tool and it returns Walsin candidates with each match and mismatch stated. We never call a part a like-for-like swap. You confirm against both datasheets and qualify in your own circuit.
