RoHS Exemption Chip Resistor Paperwork for the United Kingdom: One Walsin Datasheet in 28 Names 7C-I

We read all 451 pages of the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold. Exactly one names a RoHS exemption. For RoHS exemption chip resistor paperwork in a United Kingdom compliance file, the only document in our library that names one is the MR automotive sheet, and the exemption it names is 7C-I. The other 27 documents name none.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds 28 Walsin Technology (Walsin) datasheets totalling 451 pages. We extracted the text of all of them — 863,028 characters — and counted every occurrence of the word RoHS. There are 37. This post states what those 37 occurrences say and what they do not say. Every part number below is real and appears in Walsin’s own parametric export.

Which of Walsin’s 28 datasheets names a RoHS exemption?

One: Walsin_MR_Automotive_Thick_Film_Chip_Resistor.pdf, revision ASC_MR_V13, dated March 2024. It names exemption 7C-I twice — on the page-one cover block and again as item 5 of the feature list on page 2. We checked the other 27 documents for the strings “exempt”, “7C” and “7C-I” and found zero hits across 450 remaining pages. Two of the 28 documents name a RoHS generation at all; the rest write “RoHS” with no number.

Part number Line Governing document we hold What it states on RoHS Match / mismatch vs “names a RoHS exemption”
MR06X1002FTL Chip resistor, MR automotive 0603 Walsin_MR_Automotive_Thick_Film_Chip_Resistor.pdf (ASC_MR_V13, Mar 2024) “RoHS 2 Compliant with exemption 7C-I”, pages 1 and 2 Match — the only wording in 451 pages that names an exemption
MR10X1002FTL Chip resistor, MR automotive 1210 Same sheet Same wording Match — 1210 is one of the five size codes the sheet tabulates
MR25X1002FTL Chip resistor, MR 2512 Same sheet is the nearest we hold Quick reference data lists MR10, MR12, MR08, MR06 and MR04 only Mismatch — 2512 has no matching row in that sheet’s data table
WR06X1002FTL Chip resistor, WR general purpose 0603 Walsin_WR_General_Purpose_Chip_Resistor.pdf (ASC_WR_V24, SEP 2016) “RoHS 2 compliant & Halogen free”, page 1 Mismatch — names the generation, names no exemption
WR06X1002FTLV Chip resistor, WR code inside an Automotive series No sheet in our library carries this suffix Nothing; the suffix does not appear in the export’s own documentation Mismatch — automotive-series row, and the exemption sheet covers MR codes
0201B102K160 MLCC, General Purpose 0201 X7R 01_General_Purpose.pdf (Sep. 2026) “Halogen Free & RoHS Compliance”, one occurrence in 21 pages Mismatch — a claim with no generation, substance or exemption named
MT18B104K250 MLCC, MT automotive 0603 X7R 11_Automotive_MT.pdf (Aug. 2026) Same page-one header, one occurrence in 29 pages Mismatch — AEC-Q200 compliant, still no exemption named
S242B102K502 MLCC, S2 safety X1/Y2 1808 16_Safety_X1Y2_General_S2.pdf (Apr. 2026) Page-one header plus “c. RoHS compliant” on page 2 Mismatch — two mentions, neither an exemption

We have not seen this counted anywhere. It is a one-line answer to a question a United Kingdom compliance team asks every supplier and almost never gets answered with a document reference.

What does the Halogen Free and RoHS Compliance header on 24 MLCC sheets actually commit to?

Less than it looks. We read the page-one block of all 24 MLCC series sheets. All 24 carry the header; 22 spell it “Halogen Free & RoHS Compliance” and two — 04_Middle_and_High_Voltage.pdf and 05_Surface_Coating_Type.pdf — spell the last word with a lower-case c. Eighteen of the 24 mention RoHS exactly once, in that header and nowhere else in the document. Six mention it twice. Not one names a directive, an annex, a restricted substance, a concentration threshold, an exemption or a date.

That is a compliance claim, not a declaration. A declaration identifies the legal instrument, the substances, the thresholds, the assessment basis and the person signing it. A header does none of those things. We say so plainly because the alternative — forwarding the header to your compliance function as though it were a declaration — is how a supplier gets struck off an approved vendor list rather than added to one.

How many chip resistor part numbers does the exemption-naming sheet cover?

Fewer than one in seventeen. We parsed all 137 chip resistor export files — 234,815 rows — and counted part-number prefixes. 17,442 rows carry an MR prefix, which is 7.4% of the catalogue. The MR sheet’s quick reference data tabulates five size codes: MR10, MR12, MR08, MR06 and MR04. Only 13,566 of the 234,815 rows are both MR-prefixed and in one of those five sizes. That is 5.8%.

Prefix Rows in the chip resistor export Document we hold Does that document name an exemption?
WR 45,315 Walsin_WR_General_Purpose_Chip_Resistor.pdf, SEP 2016 No
MR 17,442 Walsin_MR_Automotive_Thick_Film_Chip_Resistor.pdf, Mar 2024 Yes — 7C-I
SR 12,871 Not in the documents we hold No document
WF, WK, MF, WW, SF, WA, MK, SA, MA, WT 159,187 Not in the documents we hold No document

The MR prefix also appears in four sizes the sheet does not tabulate — 0201, 1218, 2010 and 2512 — across 3,876 rows. And 20,578 rows carry a WR prefix while sitting in a series Walsin labels Automotive, including WR06X1002FTLZ and WR04X1002FTLJ. Those are automotive-grade rows whose part-number prefix points at the sheet that names no exemption. We are not asserting which document governs them. We are telling you that the two documents we hold do not resolve it, and that the question is worth putting to Walsin before you build a compliance file on an assumption.

Does the parametric export carry a RoHS field at all?

No. We read every column header in all 203 Walsin export files. The chip resistor schema is ten columns wide: Part Number, Series Group, Series, Size, Resistance, Tolerance, TCR, Rated Power, Packaging and Termination. There is no RoHS column, no REACH column, no substance-declaration column and no lifecycle column anywhere in the 203 files. DataSheet URL exists in one file of 203.

So the compliance answer is not hiding in the data. It is in the PDFs or it does not exist, and we have now counted exactly how much of it is in the PDFs: 37 occurrences of one word across 451 pages, one of which names an exemption.

What does a United Kingdom compliance file need that we do not hold?

Most of it. We searched all 451 pages for the document types a United Kingdom or EU compliance function asks for. REACH, SVHC, conflict minerals, PFAS, Proposition 65, China RoHS, Declaration of Conformity, UKCA and CE marking all return zero occurrences. So do ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, PPAP, IMDS and VDA. None of those is in the documents we hold.

What we can give you today is specific and checkable. Twenty-eight Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, sent by email against your part number rather than described in a brochure. Lot and date-code traceability. A certificate of conformity per shipment on request. Original sealed Walsin packaging. An authorised Walsin Technology distributor in Hong Kong — confirm it with Walsin. And on the safety capacitor line, UL file E182369, which you can look up in UL’s own public database in about thirty seconds. These are the things we can show you. The RoHS declaration is not yet one of them, and we would rather tell you that now than at AVL stage.

What should a United Kingdom compliance engineer ask for, and in what order?

Four requests, and the order matters because each one narrows the next. We hold 28 datasheets and no declarations, so the first three questions are about identifying the part before you ask anybody to certify it.

  1. Fix the part number first. A size code that is not in the governing sheet — 3,876 MR rows and all 24,737 non-automotive WR rows outside the sheet’s four sizes — is a compliance question before it is an engineering one. Cross the whole list in one pass: paste up to 500 part numbers or drop your Excel or CSV into the free cross-reference tool. It is matched against Walsin’s published catalogue, returns candidates field by field, and states every difference from your original rather than hiding it. Filter by commercial or automotive grade, or for soft termination, high temperature, safety certified, high Q / low ESR or low profile.
  2. Ask us for the governing datasheet by part number. You will get the PDF and its revision code, which is how you pin what you qualified against.
  3. Ask for the signed RoHS declaration and the AEC-Q200 qualification report for that exact part number. Walsin’s sheets say AEC-Q200 compliant; the report is a separate document and we do not hold it.
  4. Check what is physically in Hong Kong on ready stock before you commit a build slot. That page is a dated snapshot as at 23 September 2026, not a live feed.

For the United Kingdom regulatory picture at MLCC level, see Walsin MLCC for the United Kingdom: UK RoHS and UKCA. For the full list of what our documentation does and does not cover, see AVL submission documentation: what we hold. The resistor range itself is on the Walsin chip resistor page.

The short version

One of the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold names a RoHS exemption. It is the MR automotive chip resistor sheet, ASC_MR_V13 dated March 2024, and the exemption is 7C-I. Two of the 28 name a RoHS generation at all. The 24 MLCC series sheets carry a page-one “Halogen Free & RoHS Compliance” header and, in 18 cases, no second mention anywhere in the document — a claim, not a declaration. 13,566 of 234,815 chip resistor part numbers are covered by the exemption-naming sheet in both prefix and size. REACH, SVHC, PFAS, China RoHS, Proposition 65, UKCA and a Declaration of Conformity return zero occurrences in 451 pages. We will not tell you a part is equivalent, and we will not tell you a regulation says something we have not read in a document. We will show you where it differs and where the file is blank.

Send us the part numbers your United Kingdom compliance file is stuck on and we will come back with the governing Walsin datasheet, its revision code, the exact RoHS wording it carries — and a straight answer where it carries none. Then tell us which declaration you need most: that is the one we take to Walsin first, and your question is what gets it asked.

Does Walsin name a RoHS exemption on its chip resistor datasheets?

On one of the two we hold. Walsin_MR_Automotive_Thick_Film_Chip_Resistor.pdf, revision ASC_MR_V13 dated March 2024, states “RoHS 2 Compliant with exemption 7C-I” on page 1 and repeats it on page 2. The general purpose sheet ASC_WR_V24 states “RoHS 2 compliant & Halogen free” and names no exemption. We checked all 451 pages we hold.

Is “Halogen Free & RoHS Compliance” on an MLCC datasheet a declaration?

No. We read the page-one block of all 24 MLCC series sheets. All 24 carry that header, 18 of them mention RoHS nowhere else in the document, and none names a directive, annex, substance, concentration threshold or exemption. It is a compliance claim. A declaration identifies the instrument, the substances, the basis of assessment and a signatory.

How many Walsin chip resistor part numbers are covered by the exemption-naming datasheet?

We parsed all 137 chip resistor export files, 234,815 rows. 17,442 carry an MR prefix and 13,566 are both MR-prefixed and in one of the five size codes the MR sheet tabulates — 5.8% of the catalogue. A further 3,876 MR rows sit in sizes the sheet does not tabulate at all.

Does the Walsin parametric export have a RoHS column?

No. The chip resistor schema is ten columns and none of them is RoHS, REACH, substance declaration or lifecycle. We checked every column header across all 203 Walsin export files. A DataSheet URL column exists in exactly one file of the 203. The compliance answer is in the PDFs or nowhere.

Can Venatech supply a REACH or SVHC declaration for a Walsin part?

Not today. We searched all 451 pages of the 28 datasheets we hold: REACH, SVHC, conflict minerals, PFAS, Proposition 65, China RoHS, UKCA and Declaration of Conformity return zero occurrences. Those documents are not in the documents we hold, and a part-number-specific declaration is on our request list to Walsin.

What can Venatech evidence for a United Kingdom supplier approval file?

Twenty-eight Walsin datasheets totalling 451 pages, sent against your part number. Lot and date-code traceability. A certificate of conformity per shipment on request. Original sealed Walsin packaging. Authorised Walsin Technology distributor status in Hong Kong, confirmable with Walsin. And UL file E182369 on the safety capacitor line, searchable in UL’s own public database.

Is AEC-Q200 the same as a compliance declaration?

No, and the two are routinely confused. Walsin’s datasheets say AEC-Q200 compliant, never certified, and we do not upgrade that word. The qualification report is a separate document, issued per part number, and we do not hold it. Ask us to request it alongside the governing datasheet for the exact code you intend to buy.
